Robert Rob C Or, it acts as a gateway drug to some relatively obscure genres of music once you've listened to their entire catalog for years and have built up a tolerance; vaporwave, production music, etc (more so the latter). After awhile it starts to feel strange to listen to "normal" music and it feels like you are mentally hiding out in small apartment with only a single flickering light bulb, headphones and an analogue hi-fi system circa 1980.
@zbubs7784iyeah dayvan cowboy was an amazing first song from boards of Canada. My first experience with BOC was in about 2004 or 2005. I was 14 or 15, my friends and I had just got into smoking weed and I was annoyed that they were listening to this “trippy” music, thinking it was lame and try hard. I then stayed at my friends house one night, I stayed downstairs in the living room on my buddies couch while my other buddies slept in various rooms upstairs. We smoked and went to sleep, I woke up an hour later still heavily buzzed- the house was quiet and the room was dark and blue from this blue lighting, and I picked up my friends mp3 player and turned it on, dayvan was on first followed by 1969, my mind was blowwwwn!!! I had to tell them the next day I was wrong about it all 😂. Sorry for the long comment!
When it comes to favourites though, 747, 2B from untitled, 5.9.78, buckie high, Macquarie ridge, and dayvan cowboy. There’s probably more but I can’t remember
this is quickly becoming my favorite song.. i find myself listening to it over and over as i am doing college classes because it always puts me in a very zen place. boards of canada is a godsend.. i am recently clean and sober, and it is amazing to have music to rely on for stress relief and positive energy. there is beauty in this world
there's something extremely evocative about the way they choose unconventional interval movements, sometimes chromatic or heavily relying on the suspended 4th, while many times making these very evocative sequences using two notes to harmonize instead of a triad or extended chord. it leaves much to be implied.
yet again, im commenting here, I can't stop listening to this track, definitely one of my favourite boc tracks, I often play it while playing poker, helps me concentrate on the long term goal of positive ev and a growing bankroll.
Although the world is large, there is only so much it can provide. Those blinded by greed have sought to acquire as much of a grip on it as possible... what happens when there's none left? Will their short-lived dominance over this earth, this mortal Finity, be worth it after they're eaten from the inside out? It's time they took less than they give, else either crash and burn, or starve.
Yeah exactly, I noticed myself from listening how some of the guitars on campfire have been sampled and are being sequenced by an mpc (i'm guessing mpc). Nothing wrong with that tho, still sounds awesome. What I love about BOC though is how good they are at sampling. And they have good taste in sampling & blending sounds together, whether it be analog, digital or whatever else it happens to be.
@Sundownerr they are not analogue purists. they have stated many times that they use all kinds of equipment. acoustic, digital, analogue or otherwise. lots of the crazier fans that they have think they use nothing but analogue gear, and got really pissed off when they released the campfire headphase. it had guitar samples. little did they know that boards have been using all kinds of stuff like that ever since they started. they just fuck with the samples so much that people had no idea.
True, my mistake. All their stuff is old, since their latest album was late 2005 and considering it was also on their 2006 EP.....score you. Now "you" are ruling the youtubes
Once into Boca, you get like; not wanting to listen to any other kind of music for a good while - That's tha truth!!

excrono wow that's a very good comparison. Feels like there's so much missing in 'normal' music
+excrono That is exactly how it feels. You managed to convey what I just quite couldn't.
Robert Rob C totally agree with you there!
Total agree!!👌
Bit of an ironically titled song, given how many times I've hit the replay button.
really makes you think
if you right click, there's a loop option on videos
thanks! xox :)
Hahaha yeah boy
Do you know what Ironic means?
This song reaches into my soul
This is their most ultimate track in my opinion. Straight goosebumps everytime.
@Z Bubs to each their own 🤝

gilbertgbert
wow dude accurate
gilbertgbert LMFAO. I cannot deal with your comment and how true it is.
This song is older than some people might think, like around 1995 i think
Few tracks stand out from these auld tunes, this is one of them.
Yeah you guys are definitely from another planet, there's no doubt about it.

To me, it's wild how hard it is to find this song. I hope it gets released in a more proper way so it doesn't get lost. Thanks so much for uploading!

Not at all creepy
beautiful....at one with the ambience.....takes a certain mind to 'get' boards of canada
I know it sounds pretentious, but I think this is true.
Scatter Brained it's very true, most people aren't open minded whatsoever
I have yet to put my finger on why many of BoC tracks seem to represent a higher order of music.
I feel the same. "Transcendent" would be the closest to a description of their music overall.
By all accounts, they are using the same tools as everyone else, but it doesn't seem to add up.
I'm guessing there're a lot of things you yet to have put your finger on.
You're probably just a bit thick.

two of the most beautiful minds roaming this planet. thank you for making my life so much better boc.
The drum beat sounds like it would say "Boards of Canada"
Damn, i really like them, they're beyond everyone
Vibes hit me instantly. I usually need to listen a few times.
Another great track from BOC
it took 10 years to mother fortune to bring this to me, and here I'm enjoying it
Magic.
I'll never grow tired of listening to these guys, perfect smoking music.

Sounds of life
I cant start my day without listening to this track!

+rgawer2 How did you guess? ;-) And seriously; first tune I listen to every day.
"I've never listened to a Boards of Canada track I did not like". Anonymous

great track.

Total Goosebumps From Start To Finnish ❤
The perfect meditative experience. A journey every time.
The genious of BOC is managing to make chilled out ambient music sound non cringe or cheesy. They just have it
Why does this song have to end?
Finity
it doesn't. just right click, then select "loop."
I have that very same question about almost every BoC song.
@Sudstah i always come back to this song,
The trumpets make me think of Judgment Day. The climax of all human civilization. Epic!
Imagine if this track had never hit youtube and remained lost, only heard by the producers, it existed once but never forever like it will be
It's crazy how hard it is to find this song anywhere else. It's one of their best imo, and they have many great songs.
I get what you mean, ok so they arent like full on TECHNICAL LETS DO THIS AT CERTAIN TIMES its kind of rough and compromised its

Yes. And all your life's memories flashing alongside the track before the transition
How about you end your sentence with a period. I'm gonna have to give you a citation.
Someone's taking life seriously again, how quaint!
