    This was awesome! Be great to see a migration/decommission of traditional SQL Server installs on Azure VMs to Azure SQL / Managed Instance. Love your content!

    Love your videos mate. Can you create a dedicated video explaining DNS resolution options between On-prem and Azure in the migration process?

    Dude no doubt your content is very rich. and nicely explained but if possible would you mind just bit smaller your image which is showing in the right side corner. due to that unable to see sometimes.
    keep up the good work :)

    Thanks for this, very informative. I would love to see the design and deployment of a landing zone, which incorporates some existing Azure infrastructure already present. (Maybe creating a new management group).

      Glad it helped! Yes, that is definitely in the pipeline - will be a good video to make!

    Informative video mate. Can you do a video on the networking side of things? I know this is an open ended question, but examples used in typical environments between 10-200 seats. How often are VA Firewalls used etc.

      Thanks for the feedback. Yep, absolutely, hopefully in the coming weeks will have some more on the network/architecture side.

    you start the video saying that you are demonstrating how to do a physical server migration as in a lot of occasions you dont get access to vmware or hyper v, then you ended doing a vcenter migration anyway....

    Great content. In real life scenario, where on prem VMs are sitting behind the firewall with no internet access (and no VPN or expressroute), what ports you need to open on firewall and what would be the destination? Cheers!

    • @CloudContext
      @CloudContext  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The data is proxied via the migration server. Basically, you need to ensure that the source can access the migration server on the specifed ports, and the migration server needs outbound Internet access.

    Thanks for the great video, can we have the separate appliances point to single Azure Migrate project? (2 separate appliances point to single Azure Migrate project)

    • @CloudContext
      @CloudContext  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the feedback. Yes you definitely can. You can have multiple appliances for one project but one appliance can only be registered to one project.

    Can we use Microsoft Virtual Machine Converter just to migrate 1 or 2 Linux VMWare VMs . possibility of importing the VMDK files of Linux VMWare VMs??

    • @CloudContext
      @CloudContext  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      From memory, I think MVMC might actually be deprecated in which case I wouldn't use it for anything. If you have access to the hypervisor, then I'd be using ASR to migrate the Linux VMs.

    where are the 3 source VM's located? does it matter or doesnt, mainly when u have VMs with 4tb of storage?

    • @CloudContext

      It doesn't really matter as long as you have connectivity between them.

    Thanks for this informative video. How much will the service Azure Migrate cost? I mean, I`m going to migrate 1 virtual machine in VmWare to tha Azure cloud. How the billing will work in this case? it will depend from the size of VM or anything else?

    • @CloudContext
      @CloudContext  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great question. The service itself is actually free tool but you need to consider the cost of the storage of the VM while it is replicating and after you cutover. Be sure to stop replication post migrate and clean up the migrated data.

      @@CloudContext Hi, we have finally successfully migrate VM machine to the cloud. Now, just for safe money I have stopped the Replication. Please tell me, where can I clean up the migrated data? Thank you in advance!!!

      Dear @Cloud Context , could you please reply to this question?

    • @CloudContext
      @CloudContext  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Erzhan, so, usually, you can just go to the Azure Migrate project, and select stop and it will ask you if you want to clean it up. Usually, what I've found is that gives you an error (normally only if you have migrated a physical server). In that case, you have to go look for the Storage Account that the data was transferred to and delete it manually. Hope that helps!

  • @nhtna4706

    do u need any vpn tunnel for copying the tb's of data using the appliance VM, to the target Vm in Azure?

    • @CloudContext
      @CloudContext  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's one option but you can also push the data over the Internet with no problem, ie, without an Express Route or a VPN.

    Hello, Do you think that it is best to stand up a new Azure VM and OS (Win Server 2019) and transfer the DB as opposed to just migrating the exciting VMware VM? Thank you for your time.

    • @CloudContext
      @CloudContext  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Depends on the size and complexity of the DB. I would personally transfer the DB though.

    Does physical server discovery/migration need own appliance server or can you use appliance installed in Vmware (that is used to Vmware server discovery) ?

    After Final Migration if we don't stop the replication it will sync the data from On-Prem server to azure VM? Please respond

    Why wouldn't you migrate a DC ? Is it because if you still have anything on prem at all, the Dc should be it ?

    • @CloudContext
      @CloudContext  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good question and you answered with a great answer too! On top of that, it's because I hate to run any type of migration tool to replicate a DC. Although Microsoft support migration of DCs via Azure Migrate, historically, many engineers have had issues so most of us would rather just build a new DC since it's so easy and requires even less work than a migration.

    Please how can I migrate VM from Digital Ocean to Azure

    • @CloudContext
      @CloudContext  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You will need to use the process for migrating a physical workload. You will have to install an agent on the VM and allow it to replicate rather than use a snapshot.
