The chilling part is that Fetting doesn`t sing that just children will run through a house again. He sings that "there will be NEW children born" as previous ones didn`t survive the war.

Yes! I wish the translation was accurate instead of trying to be poetic

The song is from a film called "The Law and the Fist". It is often called a Polish Western, because it has the same atmosphere as classic American films such as "High Noon". The film's plot takes place right after World War II. In a city abandoned by the Germans, the makeshift administration tries to organize life for new residents resettled from the east. The main character takes the side of good and opposes the gang that wants to get rich in the abandoned city.

The composer of this song is Krzysztof Komeda. He also composed the music to Rosemary's Child.

Correct. This song is of hope for good days, with no war & no oppression. Well it took us half a century, but we did it.😌

I think this song was a kind of therapy for the generation that survived the atrocities of the WWII. Later generations just know that this song is not only beautiful but also important like "Dziwny jest ten świat" strange is this world) by Czesław Niemen. Last but not least - let me write something personal - Mr Reactions by D - you surprised/amazed me by your remarks again - you have no chance to know or understand typical local Polish things and you guess so sometimes things so correctly that I can't believe it and I think to myself - how does he know that???? He is not Polish!!!!. In this case - you said that the music was a bit jazz/blues. I've never heart it although I know this song by heart - you did. Why? Because music to this song was written by Krzysztof (Christoph) Komeda famous jazzman of 60's who is also known for having written the music to the famous film "Rosemary's Baby" by Roman Polanski. Thank you for your comments. Best regards from Warsaw/Poland.

This is not an exact translation, rather an interpretation.
    Here it is accurate:
From four sides of the world,
    From rovan roads,
Where there are the burnt down woods,
    The tired wind,
    The night and the frontline,
Where there is the not harvested crop,
Where there is the blackened hawthorn
    The day is getting up.
The sun will hug us with its arms.
And look: the earth heavy from blood
For us will give a birth to a grain crop again
    Golden dust.
Women will take us under their roof.
And look: they'll laugh through the tears.
Someone will play music to dance for us again.
    Maybe already
    In a day, in two,
    In a night, in three,
    although not today.
In a night, in a day
    You'll see
    The dawn will rise.
Breads will be baked in ovens for us.
And look: there where was only smoke,
War's trace will scar up with a flower,
    Rose's colour.
New kids will be born to us.
And look: they'll laugh that we
Are remembering that bad time again,
    Storm's time.
    In a day, in two,
    In a night, in three,
    although not today.
In a night, in a day
    You'll see
    The dawn will rise.

Thank you, I was about to get to translating it because it irritated me the translation wasn't accurate and it just missed some important meanings behind the lyrics that were in the original
