Mine just burnt out. When I took off the shield I noticed the black and red wires were reversed. Been like that since I bought this place 4 years ago. Does it matter? Not sure if that caused the issue. If it did, why did it last so long?
    Thanks

It may have just been a connection that worked loose over time. I haven't done any research to see if there is a recall on this unit or if this is a common problem. Either way, the black and red wires SHOULD both be 120V each to make 240v total, so it shouldn't matter if they're reversed as long and the Neutral and Ground are correct.. The white (Neutral) wire and ground (green) wires do matter. If those were wrong it would trip the breaker if it didn't catch fire first.

FixItWithJerry Thanks. Yes, white and green were ok. Was gonna replace entire unit but there is a backlog of appliances. I’ll by a new terminal block and swap it out. Seems simple enough, just was not sure if safe to do so. Now that I know it is safe I will do the repair.

@@nickdeliso7026 Yea, the only other problem could be an internal short somewhere. when after you install the new block just be sure to test it one burner at a time and be ready to kill the power if there's still a problem. Good luck!

FixItWithJerry Thanks. Whirlpool sending a guy to look at it. No charge. Not sure how much repair will be if I decide to have him fix it, but it may be worth a few extra $$$. Part is about $40.

Excellent video, very helpful but in my situation the black hot wire is burned with the connector , so do you have to replace it , and how, or just cut the burned part? Please if anyone knows about this. Thanks!

Yea, if you feel confident enough in your abilities that would be the way to do it. If it's burned on the plug side I would replace the whole plug. If it's burned inside the stove itself then I would try and replace the entire wire if you can easily access both ends. If not, at least replace the burned section, solder and heatshrink the in-line connection. You may have to cut back farther than what appears to be burned on the outside, there may be charred wire that you can't see. This is high voltage (240v) and High Amperage (30-50amps) so there is a serious risk of fire if it's not done correctly. If you have any doubt it may be best to hire a professional appliance repair person and since you have an idea of what's wrong you may be able to save some money on a troubleshooting charge. It's better to pay someone $100-$200 for a repair rather than burn the house down. Hope that helps!

    Did the oven still work?

    • @fixitwithjerry6161

No, the clock and the light worked (they sometimes use only one 120V leg) but everything that needed 240V was not working since one of the 120V legs was not making connection.

All 4 of mine just stopped working after cleaning it. What that may be?

What type of cleaning? The "clean" cycle on the oven or manual cleaning?
