I wish she would have touched on what the situations were like for hair and makeup. Did stylists ever have a hard time with her curly hair? Did she have to bring her own complexion makeup? Were the MUAs skilled enough to apply eye shadow to her big hooded eyes? Did she ever have to do her own makeup? I'm curious.
She's a little darker than the other idols and there are tanned koreans like Jessi so I'm pretty sure she didn't have a problem with makeup and her hair is wavy, other koreans have that type of hair too. I think you can use the same products that you use for straight hair for that
I used to do some modelling in South Korea a couple of years ago, so I can guess how she was treated based on my experience. When the MUAs are aware that there will be a black girl in the shooting, they always have at least one shade of dark brown foundation that they mix with a dark beige one until the color matches the skintone of the model. For the hair, I had real hair extensions back then so most of the time they would either curl or straighten it depending on what the look for the photo shoot or video had to be. Since Alex's hair seems to be "thin" (I don't know how to say that properly in English), I'm guessing that doing her hair before she went on stage wasn't that complicated. That being said, some MUAs don't bother when they are not given any particular directions. I wouldn't be surprised if Alex had to do everything on her own, I'm pretty sure that some Korean idols are in the same situation sometimes

But then at 10:55 Grace asked "are they still promoting?" and Alex did a little pause (very short) so I guess the group hasn't disbanded but also, it's been a while since they last promoted (this video is from june 2019, keep that in mind). So it can't be BTS, EXO, SEVENTEEN or MONSTA X because they are basically global kpop stars at the moment, doing tours and leading the industry. B.A.P is a little tricky, because they terminated their contract on early 2019 but we don't know if they disbanded (but I think they did, actually, because they had major issues with their company) so I would say BTOB and VIXX are the big candidates. 6. Since Alex said she started dating him in 2016 "right before START A FIRE", they had a relationship that went for a few months. But then she said they broke up because "promotions started for him" and well, BTOB had a comeback in march 2017 and VIXX in may 2017. 7. So I guess it could be any member of VIXX or BTOB, but since Alex is a 89lines I would guess she dated someone close to her age, so I think BTOB EunKwang (90line), BTOB MinHyuk (90line), BTOB ChangSub (91line), BTOB HyunSik (92line), VIXX N (90line), VIXX Leo (90line), VIXX Ken (92line). But this is just my guess... 8. Lastly, she said the first time she received a number it was also during "DEMONSTRATE" era and her manager "was in love with him", so maybe he was someone very famous but even so, Alex didn't know him... so the guy she dated must have been really popular, and the guy who have him the number less popular, but still popular enough to be Rania's manager crush. 9. It's really hard to say. Personally I think she dated a BTOB member and someone from VIXX gave her the number, in this case not necessarily someone close to her age. Maybe Ravi? Because he was making news back then so maybe that's why the manager said "YES, OF COURSE I KNOW HIM".

The Wikipedia article is a little off on that part, Jieun never removed RaNia from hers and Hyeme and Jieun are the only members who still appear in DR Music's practice room. The bankruptcy part is heavily rumored but Ttabo left late last year and Zi.U, apparently, left earlier this year though no one knows about Namfon yet. Either way, if we see RaNia again, I assume it will be mostly new members...
It’s hard to get in the Koreans circle if you’re not korean. I used to work in a korean company and although majority are nice and respectful but they have an invisible boundary. It’s like they don’t share anything personal or want to get to know you as a “closer” friend. They would say nice things to be respectful but may not mean it in their hearts. It’s just my two cents don’t hate me. I guess every culture, race is different so I’m ok.
As an Asian girl, that’s the exact thing I felt and experienced when I was studying abroad in the US. People there were kind in general, but I felt like there is a wall made of glass right in front of me whenever I am in a meeting like a group discussion. Also, there was a moment when students had to form a group for a project throughout the whole semester, but back then nobody didn’t let me in the group. They literally ignored me. So ultimately I had to drop out of that class because I couldn’t find a group to belong to.
That's a story didn't know 'Secret' company is suing them. I thought the company disbanded them. Everything they asked to girls to do they did, lost weight had surgery. Also Han Sun-hwa did a lot of dramas. Can't wait to hear what happened.

She'll probably never get a chance, but if she did an interview with Tasha from Skarf and Idol School that would be great, cuz that girl must have a lot to say, from being a trainee for several years, getting to debut in the first group with Singaporean idols, to disbanding quickly, going back to a trainee and then participating in Mnet's Idol School and ultimately giving up on the kpop life
KingSeonbae she did mention on her instagram that she’s giving it another chance but at the moment i think she’s just enjoying her life but it looks like she might give it another go. she’s a talented dancer so it was a waste that skarf disbanded.

We need more Korean British groups. There are lots of idols that lived in America or were born in America, or Australia and New Zealand, but no Brits, whatsoever. I'm a Brit myself and would love to see some Korean British idols. That would be awesome.

But that’s probably a big reason why you won’t see as many British Kpop idols as American

I love Alex like I remember reading the essay she wrote about getting into Kpop and I always appreciated her since then bc she really understood why Kpop works esp fan engagement wise. She rly is such a good voice to have in Kpop (and I can’t wait for her book) and I wish she would promote again (make a group omg). As a kpop fan, tbh, one of the reasons why I support my idols is bcs I know they've sacrificed a lot to debut bcs being a trainee is like survival of the fittest. And debuting as an idol doesn't mean that you're going to live a life fulk of luxury. Kpop idols are idols because they are passionate enough to do it, it's their dream and not just bcs they dont have anything good to do or what. PS. I hope you're doing good now, Alex :))
Well... Rania released "Demonstrate" back on November 6th 2015... So they would promote it for like a month, right? During that time (November), they've been on multiple music shows: Inkigayo, Show Music Core, M Countdown, Showchampion and so on. I've looked up a bit (just for fun) for other boy groups that could've promoted during that time, but it was pretty useless... What I mean is that there were too many groups that could've been at those shows, from BTS, EXO, iKON, VIXX, BigBang, Madtown, BAP, Dynamic Duo, to even solo artists such as Zico, Crush and Jay Park. So, in conclusion, I don't think we'll ever going to know "the real tea" ( 😂 ) unless Alex will tell us. But, sincerely, it's up to her to choose if she wants us to know or not... She beeped his name for a reason. And maybe it's for the better, it's her life after all 🤷♀️
If your non Asian and wanna be a kpop idol read this You have a very very big challenge ahead of you . Like very , but not impossible . I myself really want to achieve that goal in my life . I think korean music is beautiful and I want to be part of something as beautiful as that. Kpop idols work so hard to be idols and even risk their own health by doing so. I think that in the future korea is going to become more acceptable towards foreign people as it is slowing growing in Korea. I know many of y’all are young , but let’s trust eachother and ourselves because of course we can do it . This girl did it but she couldn’t stay because she wasn’t prepared enough and they made it really hard for her to communicate with others . But it’s different from you young girls/boys that are now wanting this . Prepare yourself before hand . Learn korean and work on yourselves . Make it worth it luvs . I wish she would have touched on what the situations were like for hair and makeup. Did stylists ever have a hard time with her curly hair? Did she have to bring her own complexion makeup? Were the MUAs skilled enough to apply eye shadow to her big hooded eyes? Did she ever have to do her own makeup? I'm curious.
She's a little darker than the other idols and there are tanned koreans like Jessi so I'm pretty sure she didn't have a problem with makeup and her hair is wavy, other koreans have that type of hair too. I think you can use the same products that you use for straight hair for that

I used to do some modelling in South Korea a couple of years ago, so I can guess how she was treated based on my experience. When the MUAs are aware that there will be a black girl in the shooting, they always have at least one shade of dark brown foundation that they mix with a dark beige one until the color matches the skintone of the model. For the hair, I had real hair extensions back then so most of the time they would either curl or straighten it depending on what the look for the photo shoot or video had to be. Since Alex's hair seems to be "thin" (I don't know how to say that properly in English), I'm guessing that doing her hair before she went on stage wasn't that complicated. That being said, some MUAs don't bother when they are not given any particular directions. I wouldn't be surprised if Alex had to do everything on her own, I'm pretty sure that some Korean idols are in the same situation sometimes

Also, since Alex said 9:45 "I did know who he is" and because of Grace asked her if she knew who he was, I think he wasn't a big star at the time. But Grace question also makes sense because Alex is a foreigner, so maybe Grace thought Alex wasn't familiar with kpop idols, even if they were top stars. But since she knew who they were, it was NOT a rookie group, because it takes long to remember the names of the rookies. And well, MONSTA X, SEVENTEEN, UP10TION and many others on that list, were rookies at the time (2015).
5. But then at 10:55 Grace asked "are they still promoting?" and Alex did a little pause (very short) so I guess the group hasn't disbanded but also, it's been a while since they last promoted (this video is from june 2019, keep that in mind). So it can't be BTS, EXO, SEVENTEEN or MONSTA X because they are basically global kpop stars at the moment, doing tours and leading the industry. B.A.P is a little tricky, because they terminated their contract on early 2019 but we don't know if they disbanded (but I think they did, actually, because they had major issues with their company) so I would say BTOB and VIXX are the big candidates.
6. Since Alex said she started dating him in 2016 "right before START A FIRE", they had a relationship that went for a few months. But then she said they broke up because "promotions started for him" and well, BTOB had a comeback in march 2017 and VIXX in may 2017.
7. So I guess it could be any member of VIXX or BTOB, but since Alex is a 89lines I would guess she dated someone close to her age, so I think BTOB EunKwang (90line), BTOB MinHyuk (90line), BTOB ChangSub (91line), BTOB HyunSik (92line), VIXX N (90line), VIXX Leo (90line), VIXX Ken (92line). But this is just my guess...
8. Lastly, she said the first time she received a number it was also during "DEMONSTRATE" era and her manager "was in love with him", so maybe he was someone very famous but even so, Alex didn't know him... so the guy she dated must have been really popular, and the guy who have him the number less popular, but still popular enough to be Rania's manager crush.
9. It's really hard to say. Personally I think she dated a BTOB member and someone from VIXX gave her the number, in this case not necessarily someone close to her age. Maybe Ravi? Because he was making news back then so maybe that's why the manager said "YES, OF COURSE I KNOW HIM".

It’s hard to get in the Koreans circle if you’re not korean. I used to work in a korean company and although majority are nice and respectful but they have an invisible boundary. It’s like they don’t share anything personal or want to get to know you as a “closer” friend. They would say nice things to be respectful but may not mean it in their hearts. It’s just my two cents don’t hate me. I guess every culture, race is different so I’m ok.
Asians in general are like that, here in Brazil their communities are kinda isolated even though our culture is very welcoming to foreigners.
As an Asian girl, that’s the exact thing I felt and experienced when I was studying abroad in the US. People there were kind in general, but I felt like there is a wall made of glass right in front of me whenever I am in a meeting like a group discussion. Also, there was a moment when students had to form a group for a project throughout the whole semester, but back then nobody didn’t let me in the group. They literally ignored me. So ultimately I had to drop out of that class because I couldn’t find a group to belong to.

I believe those clothes are her clothes I think she said they didn't give her clothes so she had to wear her clothes and her own make up.
They always had excuses as to why they didn’t have an outfit for her, but there was one show where she was matching with the group. Only one show though, she always had to wear her own clothes

I love Alex like I remember reading the essay she wrote about getting into Kpop and I always appreciated her since then bc she really understood why Kpop works esp fan engagement wise. She rly is such a good voice to have in Kpop (and I can’t wait for her book) and I wish she would promote again (make a group omg).
She deserved a better debut experience than like being added to an already established group & essentially being thrown to the wolves.

As a kpop fan, tbh, one of the reasons why I support my idols is bcs I know they've sacrificed a lot to debut bcs being a trainee is like survival of the fittest. And debuting as an idol doesn't mean that you're going to live a life fulk of luxury. Well... Rania released "Demonstrate" back on November 6th 2015... So they would promote it for like a month, right? During that time (November), they've been on multiple music shows: Inkigayo, Show Music Core, M Countdown, Showchampion and so on. I've looked up a bit (just for fun) for other boy groups that could've promoted during that time, but it was pretty useless... What I mean is that there were too many groups that could've been at those shows, from BTS, EXO, iKON, VIXX, BigBang, Madtown, BAP, Dynamic Duo, to even solo artists such as Zico, Crush and Jay Park.
So, in conclusion, I don't think we'll ever going to know "the real tea" ( 😂 ) unless Alex will tell us. But, sincerely, it's up to her to choose if she wants us to know or not... She beeped his name for a reason. And maybe it's for the better, it's her life after all 🤷♀️

You have a very very big challenge ahead of you . Like very , but not impossible . I myself really want to achieve that goal in my life . I think korean music is beautiful and I want to be part of something as beautiful as that. Kpop idols work so hard to be idols and even risk their own health by doing so. I think that in the future korea is going to become more acceptable towards foreign people as it is slowing growing in Korea. I know many of y’all are young , but let’s trust eachother and ourselves because of course we can do it . This girl did it but she couldn’t stay because she wasn’t prepared enough and they made it really hard for her to communicate with others . But it’s different from you young girls/boys that are now wanting this . Prepare yourself before hand . Learn korean and work on yourselves . Make it worth it luvs . That’s my advice to any of y’all who want to become a kpop idol not being Asian . Thank you for reading :)
