The splitter has its place just like the axe does. It’s just like you’ve said before, humble labor is good for the mind. That couldn’t be more true! Love to you and the family buckin❤️

Wanted to know if you had any tips with how to properly split wood with a wood splitter. I had an accident last year and I think I was going to quick and my finger got caught partly in the wood splitter and it pulled it down with the log thankfully was just my nail that got smashed in but kind of scared me after that and I don't know how to go about it as far as the proper way and if the log should be perfectly flat on the top and bottom before it even splitting wood you have any suggestions please

    • @tracedavis4007
      @tracedavis4007 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

@@codyglomboske113 I might have some suggestions for ya bud, mainly if yer inexperienced just start off slow and at some point you will get the muscle memory of it and you will be able to do it faster without havin ta think about it, as far as wood bein straight, it doesn't have to be straight, it will still split, it just might fight you a little or might try to push yer piece off the splitter. All in all just be careful, start off slow, try to make sure that yer pieces of wood yer splittin are cut relatively straight to begin with and once you get some time on the machine then you will feel more confident to split wood that's not cut very straight. The last suggestion I have is to get out the good ole axe🪓 and do some swingin! That's how I do it and then I just use the splitter for the ones I can't split with an axe. Best wishes to ya, good luck! Remember take er slow and just work into it. You'll get it figured out in no time once yer doin it. Be safe!! Be kind!! Give love!!!

Thank you so much and yeah it's a different experience because there's times where I get really hard wood and the thing will just go pop goes a weasel .and as far as an ax I really want to get one do you have a suggestion I know you probably have videos informing about access but right now I'm just at a point in life to where I forget or don't always have the time to watch the videos I try to as much as possible to inform myself to better myself into having the knowledge to going about so and not being cocky because I've been realizing that it's a big factor in life were an individual starts being careless in a sense any who I really want to know what suggestion you have right off the bat right off the Hop for someone who has never used an ax but also someone who has a lot of root strength that could be used towards an act suited for him.I played baseball so I have good hand-eye coordination as far as that so I don't know if that would play in the aspects as far as what acts I should get thank you so much for your reply and your time I greatly appreciate it and I greatly appreciate your content. I have been entering the realm of using chainsaws and I just love it I love the two stroke to smell of the gas the sound of the chainsaw the sharp chain when it's sharpened perfectly cutting through a piece of wood it just feels so invigorating and I feel so accomplished after it. Then again I've never felt any trees like you in a sense you're kind of like an idol in a sense. And excuse my language but when I see your videos I'm like I want to look like that bad ass right there now that's an effing man I say lol on a real note

So, I am pretty sure there is not another person alive that can make log splittin so fun to watch. The first time I saw you I thought man that guy is swinging that axe all crazy like, a minute or two I realized the skill and precision you are using. The years of swinging an axe have made you an absolute artist, and faster than any hydraulic splitter I have ever used.

I've been watching quite a few of you wood splittin' videos lately and feel like I am getting a lot better with the flick and strategies to handle the pieces of wood for body longevity and more energy. I use what I learn from you videos coupled with the advice I get from my dad when I'm dealing with some particularly gnarly chunks. I feel like I am becoming a much more efficient chopper this Spring. I used to go out there and just hack and wack until I was tired. Now I'm not overstriking nearly as much and if I do I have the tight Paracord wrap there to save my handle haha! Your videos have been much appreciated and I want to acknowledge how generous you are with your time and energy.

Andrew of Eastonmade. I think I've seen everyone of his vids. i even subbed. This man also has a heart of gold, like Buckin'. The quality of his machines are hands down. Does not matter which model chosen. He reads all comments for feed back on his splitters, to build yet a better machine any chance he gets. He has made his team like family and they all give back to him. For good reason. I would not hesitate to purchase one of his machines if I had the available coin. He is the kind of guy that you want to see his business grow and prosper. He is a man of integrity. He is a friend to us all.

Your very right, men must expend energy to feel healthy in both mind and body. My family owns a very successful tree business in michigan, I worked there throughout my teens. Everyday splitting wood in the morning and cutting down trees for customers in the afternoon. either axe, maul or hydrolic splitter. It gave me a good outlet to both meditate and be sound of health. Now I work a desk job and think.....man....those days were hard as hell, but great for me overall.

Buckin has taught me to be more aware of the surroundings as you work.
It's so easy to have some kind of accident.
Watch as he splits, the feet automatically get settled by pushing and kicking little spits and sawdust out of the way to settle the body into stable stance.
When he's falling a tree he always looks around, back and forth, up and down. You never know when someone or a dog could walk into the drop zone.
It's pre-programmed movement to maintain high level of safety.
Without that high level of awareness the chances of injury go up.
    Stay safe
    Stay strong
    Be kind

I'm currently sitting on two huge stacks of logs from a tree service. People tell me constantly to get a wood splitter. I use a double bit with a straight 30" handle. I love it. Sure, I might ramp up production with a wood splitter or maybe I'll end up faster with my double. Point? What wood splitting with my axe does for me overall cannot be realized with a gas/electric wood splitter. It is my favorite part of the whole process and I come away with a real sense of accomplishment and an inner peace you can't get any other way.

Any axe men out there can tell right away if it's a good splitter by the first hit. It's just has a certain sound. It's hard to explain but if it has a "popping thud" then you know it's a good splitter. Me personally I like a sharp edge with a noticeable progression on the profile.

Love it brother. What a great way to highlight the effectiveness of different cutting profiles. Keep em coming.
FYI: did a quick google search since I’ve never heard of the “Swift Drifter”. Looks like it was called the “Swift Cutter”. It’s always fun to find a new model from Kelly.

BBRS! Love your channel! Got to ask - what make and model of chainsaw boot do you use? Or do you use a different boot for all your climbing jobs versus what you use for ground work? Thanks!
