I asked about bearing reins, because I know how horrible they are. They said they do not use them, the horses are trained to keep their heads up, and for the maneuvers they do, their heads have to be free. So, I don't know what you are looking at, but it isn't bearing reins..... they just have the reins that go from their bits, to the driver.
The first time I got to see them was in Florida got to touch and stand next to one. They are Magnificent.. Awesome.. Was in Bush Gardens was looking at theirs one leg was cut. I hate not just let them be horses. Running playing and eating from the pasture.. It must hurt their mouth with those dam bits in their mouth.
They love showing off it like getting dress up for a ball for them and they do get to run and eat from pasture and they get feed better then you eat it like the best of everything .
You can tell these handlers are gentle and caring with the Bud horses and absolutely OCD about every detail, so that the horses and people are safe. A delight to watch. Lol dog wanders off into the crowd to say hi! Horses start shaking their heads when they are all set up and ready to go. Notice how they side step to turn with those big hoofs.

Their explanation is that the wagon weighs 6000 pounds. The horses weigh 2000 pounds and can pull twice their weight. However if you watch the way they have to maneuver the wagon like it would have been done in order to deliver beer and allow for traffic back in the day, then you can see the need for that many horses.
@@oregongirl1064 It is NOT just for show. This is how things were actually delivered to places before the time of cars, trucks, trains and planes. They needed eight horses to pull and maneuver the wagons. Two horses could not maneuver a huge, heavy wagon load. Watch their show sometime.... the drivers show how the horses move the wagon, backing it up to a loading dock.... no way could two horses do that with a full wagon load.

It's not a draw rein; it's a martingale. It's attached to rings on the bridle above the bit, not directly to the bit. Also as loosely as it's attached, it's mostly there to be shiny.

It's a beautiful display, but also sad. It's obvious that these majestic, gentle giants are very uncomfortable with the metal bites in their mouths. For me, this is animal cruelty for public display. Why can't the bites be made of a more gentle material like strong leather to make it more tolerable for these beautiful creatures. I love seeing the Clydesdales, but cry everytime I see them tossing their heads and trying to get this hard material out of their mouths! Come on Budweiser please do something about this.
No other material can be used, leather or rubber would chew it, it has to be made of metal, to be able to control them, imagine how I would control 8 of these runaway horses, they are also draft horses, they are trained to this, if we suffered for all of them animals, you would not eat a chicken, a beef, a pig.
