0:58 I genuinely enjoyed that bit where buddy explains that the trap was set for something way bigger than them, it's a badass bit of exposition and I wish the rest of the film had it
A Compelled Passionate Rationalist. My only questions are how did he know the weight of the Predators to set up the traps, how did he set up that massive tree trunk all by himself before the Predators got to him and how did he set up those wooden stakes that like shot straight down?
EzGREEN probably did like Dutch do when he prepared to fight the Jungle Hunter. Too bad for him he is fighting a dirty scum of a predator who never fights with honor like the rest.

I like how there's always a spiritual character in the Predator movies, usually the first to notice something watching them in the trees. The first film had Billy, the second had King Willie, and this film has Mombasa.
It’s as if those who are more in tune with their spiritual selves are always the first to detect something amiss.
I always thought they had a deeper understanding of nature, and could tell when something was artificial. But just my opinion 🤔

If you look closely and play about 1:22 in slow-mo, you can see the ever so slight movement of the predator's camo in that V shape opening with the sky in the background on the slight left, so he might have caught view of that slight movement. Your point still stands though! Spiritual people are usually more observant of their surroundings :D

I watched some movies and played some games to have learned some lessons about seeing things that's out of place or having the sixth sense
It's a shame how this film failed. I enjoyed it. Definitely was better than the newest one.

What made Predator so good and scary was they were stuck in that jungle as expendable black ops guys with no way out and no choice,and getting hunted by something better than them. Putting the characters on another planet recaptured what they did in the original movie a feeling of hopelessness and paranoia of being hunted with no way out.The build up and reveals were great and the Danny trejo scene made my neck hair stand up and using the same score was a great touch highly underrated movie Predator,Predator 2,Predators and the rest were garbage

I love how Cuchillo does the sign of the cross and Hanzo claps his hands together and bows his head.
Oddly enough, they're also the only two of the group who are killers from organized crime syndicates (Los Zetas and Yakuza).

It is a oddly touching detail. No one else cared enough about the unnamed green berets. But at least two of them showed some sense of remorse.

The fact that the predators hunting these people are the equivalent of a bunch of rebel teenagers really puts our place in this universe into perspective, lol.
Bad Bloods violating the Laws of the Hunt. It's why they had to kill the traditional Predator. He would have brought back an Adjudicator to deal with them if he got away. Think of a Yautja Elder tasked with enforcing the Law and with similar authority to Judge Dredd amongst its people.
Great movie. I have rewatched it a hundred times, never gets old. Definitely deserved a lot more than what it got.

I loved it 1st time.
It was really good the first time I watched it.. it felt like a spiritual successor to the first predator. Movie was okay but was better than the others we got.. hoping this predator movie “prey” is better

They wanted Arnold to appear in a final scene. He was supposed to appear from out of a ship, dressed as a predator and tell Royce he did a good job.
Tht would've made the movie 10x better they should've added Harrigan as well.

@@REIVAXMEELAS imagine that as a post credit scene. Royce and Isabelle stranded alone on the hunting planet when a predators ship flys towards them and lands in front of them. They prepare their last stand when the bay doors open and a predator walks out, the predator takes off his mask to reveal old man Dutch, saying “come with me if you want to leave”. Royce and Isabelle get on the ship and find Danny glovers character from predator 2 flying the ship. They take off only to be chased by a new predator ship who starts firing at them. Danny Glover says “I’m too old for this bullshit” as the ship takes off into space.

This film had a few good nods to the original, this is like when Dutch made the traps for the predator, a similar jungle setting, and obviously Isabelle mentions the old black ops file she saw that was reporting about Dutch and the original incident. 👍

I think this was a nice reference for fans that indicated the larger lore of the shared universe. The characters assume that the soldier here was defending himself from Predators, but his chest was clearly broken from the inside. That tells me that there were xenomorphs on the planet, probably brought there by the Predators to hunt. It's a nice touch.

Remember the second kill in Predator? Blain was hit by the plasma caster from behind. His chest pretty much exploded as well.
Naah they blasted him in the comics. He's whole idea failed but he went out fighting.
I think this was more a reference to Blaine from the first Predator movie. He got hit from behind and his entire chest was blown out. You can see the blackened and charred flesh around the wound. Even accounting for decomposition it was still readily apparent if you were looking for it. They didn't at this point so they would have just attributed it to exposure and decomposition.
1:18 The Mexican and the Yakuja Guy actually prays for the dead guy. Hence, they were not really bad people but circumstances forced them to choose the wrong path/dangerous path. But deep down they were good people.
Didnt notice that, pretty solid to show they still have beliefs and codes.

Nice catch! Never noticed, but they probably just did it out of respect for the dead, especially after hearing the analysis. Mexico and Japan have strong beliefs and culture surrounding the dead. They even have holidays and festivals dedicated to them; Day of the Dead for Mexico, and Bon Festival for Japan. Outside of their current situation, they still could very well be shitty and ruthless people

01:14. 6th sense is a REAL thing. Mahershala Ali nailed it. He's thinking 'It didn't hit the trip wires. The dead operator was firing in all directions, which means he couldn't see it. So it must've come down from....above.' Looks up into the trees and his skin crawls. The sensation of being hunted when you're a hunter is unmistakable.
I think that's why he was taken out early. He was the most perceptive and the first to "sense " the predator. The predator was probably like "I'm camouflaged and this dude is literally staring right at me. That's a problem and he needs to be taken out quickly". That would've been an advantage to have later on.
With this cast, it's disappointing that this movie doesnt get the credit it deserves.
Guessing this Special Forces gent was captured on base, hence why his only weapon was the pistol and had all those traps set up.
Possibly, or he had exhausted every other gun and ammo, and sidearm was his last weapon, or to end himself quickly instead of a possible painful death (if the traps failed) and the enemy got to him
No, they were all in combat when they are captured, thats how the predators do it.

@@YokaiX they did explain it in the comics this guy's name was Drake he was the leader of his special force group but they all got eliminated from the predators so Drake was on his own he was to noisy though and he fought with roland when they were working together then Drake went out on his own to set up these traps but he was shot after he was done
I’m a big fan of this version. While it may have failed I still love it that an elite team of people with specialized skills went up against the predators is cool sht
They sprung a trap just like the first movie to show that the predators in this one are tougher and smarter than the original movie’s. These predators are proven to be stronger and smarter since they hung one up and got through the traps without setting them off.
They didn’t get that predator because they were stronger though lol. They got it because Nolan and the dead guy in this scene managed to capture it and the dead guy used it as bait thinking the other predators would come to its help.
Also in the first film the Predator didnt fall victim to the first trap and backed out of it. Arnie had to force the issue.
it's weird how in the first movie the predator snuck into camp, without setting off the traps, to steal the body of whichever soldier he had most recently killed - I think Jesse Ventura - but this special forces guy was just left sitting there entirely intact, didn't even take his head for a trophy.
Such an underrated movie. Maybe not an absolute masterpiece but still thoroughly enjoyable. Takes itself seriously, good cast and acting, a storyline which doesn't mess about with the lore. Time for a rewatch I think.

I really enjoyed mumbasa. His facial expression when he's looking towards the direction of a Camouflaged predator. Then snaps back to being a soldier showing no weakness with that reply. Great touch.
Mahershala Ali was excellent in this movie, it would have been cool if he survived in the end

This was my first exposure to Mahershala Ali. I am so happy he has become such a talented and multi-faceted actor.
Even without a solid plot, this movie was still way better than the most recent predators

It sucks the black dude dies so soon. He was the only person who knew something was in that tree watching them. If you look closely you can see one predator moving slightly. Showed it to my brother and my dad while watching it years back.

These are bad blood predators and are way different and hunt differently than regular predators.

I loved this movie and I watch the clips more than even the first one. Great script, cast and ideas. Could've been greatly expanded on.

This wasn't so bad, it showed that every person in the movie are from different units and categories in their specialty.
Especially this scene showing it. Then the next scene where the Mexican guy got killed and is calling for help then there were traps laid out. Two of the character saying it's a trap and testing it too by tossing a rock then the other explained he did it before

Nolland/doctor: two weeks of decomposition.
Nikolai: he took up a position here, firing on all directions, this was.his last stand.
Ryroce(can't spell): the tree was at dead fall, you put the weight 5 times that of the targeted animal.

I just saw the first part of the clip . I didnt realize it back then when i watched this movie but its insane that 1 man made soo many traps when we saw Dutch and the other spec ops in Predator 1 struggling to set up basic trip wire traps out of vines and trees

This movie was way underrated And had great potential. After their first attempt to get off the planet failed the “Good Predators” renforcement arrives and locates their dead comrades “black box” which shows the humans tried to help. As sort of a thank you the good Predators take the humans with them on their ship but as they were leaving the sector they were attacked and the humans witness a great battle between the 2 aliens and the story continues.
i hope this film has a resurrection as the newer one sucked. this one is much better!
1:23 You can actually see the predator moving (a little to the left from the center of the screen where the edge of the tree and the patch of bright sky collide)
All in all, I think this movie probably came the closest to capturing the spirit of the original.

This movie was great. The final chapter slightly less so (although not bad, just not as exciting), but the whole build up was an awesome action movie.
Although I actually enjoyed The Predator, I would have liked to see a sequel to this. Still a possibility though I'm sure.

Cos apparently he holed up instead of taking them on in a straight fight. The comics showed he worked with his crew and Noland, until he went his own way.

I like the point they were trying to make here, the Predators in this weren’t honorable like the one Dutch faced, when Dutch set up his last stand the Predator took the dangerous route and went hand to hand because he considered that honorable. When the Predators in this movie saw the last stand he had set up they were like “fuck it, just shoot him and get some new prey, this one is too dangerous”
@@TMTM7 I'm not so sure that the masks are recording whatever the predator sees and uploading it to somewhere. if that was the case, they would have found Nolan a long time ago since he was wearing that predator mask.

Best movie in the franchise. The 1st is iconic and awesome for sure but came in second for me. The rest were entertaining especially watching the predator fight the aliens. But that's it.
They could have done so much more with this franchise.

the african soldier was like Bobby from the first movie..they couldn't see the predator, but they had the ability to somehow sense his presence.
It's not the ability its more of instincts. People who are trained in certain environments and such you gotta learn to be aware of your surroundings regardless where u are if u know it or not. For example Vietnam its very forested and the war that halted the amercian troops due to traps and lots of crazy crap from the Viet congs who did every dirty trick to halt the enemy and to ambush and raid.
Which is why in the predator scene Balaine or whatever his name was, had the minigun and was hearing noises and it was a small hog or whatever. He let his guard down. They were in hostile environment and unknown territory. That's the thing about some people being aware and not.

Predator is my all-time favorite alien concept. Their warrior class only cares about the sport and our language is just a joke to them.
They live to live, with good tech and bad disposition. No invasion coming, just appreciating the skills and the skulls. Rest means little.
The predators in this movie were bad bloods except for the one that's tied up. Which is why the berserker and the other normal predator even fought.
Plus the berserk and bad bloods had better weaponry and were made to be on par or better than the normal predator for example when berserker vs the black ops guy who was shirtless and wearing mud camo, he threw a torch down creating fire and heat to block out the thermal from being affective even then the berserker switched to a heartbeat sensor thingy.
Plus if you look back at the aliens vs predator where this black lady in the movie killed a xeno( stolen kill) from the predator and plus the earned a mark then when the predator died an elder appear with a big ass ship. She offered the lady the spear so she's earned her place by killing the queen. Also it'll probably be a protection against other predators if she comes across any. I don't know the backstop behind an elder handing a spear to weapon to a human

The sickening part of this Predator movies is there is always the first person who saw the Alien in camo mode, got afraid and kept quite......from Billy pt 1, Errigan Pt 2 and this Sierra Leone guy.....all kept quite. Cant they inform everyone abt it?
