I feel so left out. Bought my Leuku last year and have no complaints. Though not the prettiest handle, I dont have any issues with it hurting my hand and its grippy when wet too

Adventure Sworn knife is 3-5 times more expensive than the Benchmade Leuku. Please compare similar knife handles and knives. Thanks

I am glad you are being straight and honest with the benchmade review. I can't believe DBC's gave it a good thumbs up, .

I think this is more of a burnt edge issue. The factory edge grind heat damages the steel on that edge. Give it a full reprofile and sharpening and it’ll be closer to ~60 rc.

It's funny, this is the first negative review I've seen on the Benchmade Leuku. Makes me wonder who I should trust.

This video talks about how soft it is and literally everyone in the comments is complaining about BM's soft heat treat: th-cam.com/video/ShF8P9CtjHA/w-d-xo.html
Don't be like the fuck boy sheeple in the above comment and be a brainless Benchmade shill boy

@@karlizen4990 I bought a BM Leuku about 4 months ago. One thing I've learned about the knife I purchased is it can build a shelter, put up my tarps, start a fire and harvest / baton enough firewood to last a couple days, and still be sharp enough to dress 2 trout. A second thing I've learned about the knife (sample size of one) I bought, is that it's incredibly durable and I can easily sharpen it in the field when I feel it needs it. The handle might be uncomfortable if you are a white-collar dude and don't know how to grip a knife, but I appreciate the grip and control I have over this knife especially when it's wet. The problem I have with all these people on TH-cam cutting rope and discussing steel quality is I never see them actually using the knife in a real world application. If they would spend more time in the woods using the knives and less time in their garage cutting rope and cardboard it might give a little more credibility to their reviews. I really appreciate the knife I got at the price I paid.

Every review is an personal opinion. That's also how it should be. I guess Benchmade got some complains from people finding the Puukko to short so they decided to make it a bit bigger, make the blade look somewhat like a Leuku and give that name in the Finnish tradition.
They forgot that the average Leuko (there are shorter and bigger ones) has a blade length of just over 7 inch (18cm), a straight spine and wider than the Puukko blade. Or they thought that it wouldn't sell as good as a shorter 'Leuku like' knife.
Puukko just means 'knife' in Finnish and basically refers to the fixed blade EDC knife they used and still use in the cold in Northern Scandinavia. You don't wanna take your gloves of and try to open a folding knife there. When going in the woods you needed something bigger for chopping, more demanding, less finesse tasks, etc. That's what the Leuku is for but they also used it for fighting. They carried the Leuku in addition the the Puukko, and I think that's where Benchmade went wrong and they only wanted to use the name for commercial reasons but a 5 inch blade is not a chopper. It's still a medium camp knife and the Varusteleka Puukko 140 is with it's 14 cm blade longer but still considered a Puukko by this Finnish company.
But the names and dimensions are not engraved in stone, so they are free to use it.

Thanks for the review. I was wondering about how good the steel was on those. I got a benchmade 162 on ebay for $100, but the S30V steel sucks, my moras hold a better edge. I do like the handle on it though, but that's only 1/2 the knife.

Hue Janus That is a bummer on the 162. I have had good experience with Benchmade S30v, but I have only used folders so far! Could be they heat treat the fixed blades differently.
