I could listen to this man for days. All these liiiiiiittle nuances that you may (or may not) pick up on during the show is utterly fascinating. If you’ve only seen the show once, try to make the time to go through it again when you can. It’s SO much more rewarding the second, third or fourth time through. Wish he had an hour-long discussion for each episode! Edit: I’m glad I’m not the only one that speculated that Don was Jewish early in the show. I was like, “that’s his big secret? Yeah, the country as a whole was at odds with it back then, I guess... but in New York?!” I guess that would’ve been the case had this been another tv show. That’s the kind of “training” that other dramas make you expect...
The rich insights into people, creative and ambitious people is absolutely on-target. This guy must have conversations with the creator, he has such a rich understanding of people. The characters are superb, I can only descend into superlatives I am just so impressed with this series, congratulations.
One thing, in addition to Weiner’s genius, comes to the writers, the set designers, cinematographers, and the cast. I read once that the head writers were a total of 9? And 6 were women - compare that to even the wore or BB, and o think that weighted perspective does also add to the depth of MadMen
I was born in 1964 and watching Man Men, gave me an insight of what was going on in the sixties! I would love for Mr. Weiner to do a Man Men 20 yrs later and see where they are...Then and Now! Loved the show and remembered some things growing up and had forgotten things! Thank you! ;)
Me gustaría que esta entrevista tuviese la traducción al español. Soy una fanática de Madmen, la vi 2 veces de lo buena que me pareció. Traten de traducir la. Mil gracias.
On this video, when the two gentlemen turn to watch the clips, it turns into something very different. Like Mystery Science Theater with their silhouettes against the light of the screen. the small portion of the screen also reveals some very telling physicality of the actors. Especially in the Don & Rachel scene, where Draper is drinking a couple of Old Fashioneds durning the middle of the day and Rachel is playing with her cigarette holder. Even without seen the actors faces we see the body language.
I love Matthew Weiner's response to the interviewer's media-collective-knowledge hack assertion that Don's advertising instincts are poor. He just tells him he's flat out wrong and everyone else who thinks it is too. Truly great art and shows like Mad Men can ONLY come from independently intelligent people such as Matthew Weiner.
***** That's kind of a famous debate. ou-topos in Greek is no-place; eu-topos is good place. From which version do we get the word "utopia"? We don't really know.
I miss Mad Men so much. Leaving the trash after the picnic scene completely nailed it. When I saw that I was like, yep yep yep.

I'm born in the early 90s in India but I feel such a strong pull toward this TV series.. every episode I've watched it vicariously.
I share the same feeling
Same
It feels like America of 50s is India of 2020s :) and we are living through same changes in our family structure

Genius writers with so many great storylines, shocks and surprises. .I miss Madmen so much.
Best show ever.
Always interesting to see a creator like this give an inside look.

Chasidic garb is actually from 16th-18th century Poland, not Germany.
He likes to talk, don’t he?
Too bad not every TV creator is this open.
Mary Tyler Moore had an openly Jewish character. He didn't mention that. :(

very interesting!
Ginsberg's scene speaking about a martian is also here th-cam.com/video/dwwHmAF2iR8/w-d-xo.html
יישר כוח! גאה שווינר יהודי!
The interviewer should be more receptive to the interviewee. He’s good but also competes too much
Mr Weiner, utopia (not eutopia), means no place, meaning it doesn't exist.
