I HAVE DECIDED TO RUN A MINI SERIES CALLED
"MANCHESTER'S HORRIBLE HISTORIES"
FOCUSING ON TRUE CRIMES & TALES FROM THE VICTORIAN ERA.
I HAVE BEEN DIGGING INTO THE ARCHIVES OF MANCHESTER'S PAST AND FOUND TWO WICKED STORIES THAT REALLY GOT ME INTERESTED THE MORE I READ ABOUT IT.
THE FIRST PART OF THE VID IS ABOUT A CRIME THAT WAS DUBBED "THE MANCHESTER RIPPER" BY THE PRESS. THE MYSTERIOUS MURDERER KILLED TWO PEOPLE, THIS WAS PUT ON RECORD BY THE POLICE. JUST HOW MANY IN TOTAL WERE KILLED WE WILL NEVER KNOW AS THE KILLER WAS NEVER CAUGHT...
THE SECOND PART OF THE VID TAKES US OVER TO ONE OF MANCHESTERS HIDDEN GEMS AND A PERSONAL FAVOURITE OF MINE...ANITA STREET.
ANITA STREET IS SITUATED ON THE OUTSKIRTS OF THE HUSTLING CITY OF MANCHESTER. IT'S A SMALL ROW OF FACE TO FACE 2 UP 2 DOWN TERRACED HOUSES THAT HAVE A VERY ATMOSPHERIC VIBE.
WHEN WALKING DOWN THE STREETS THERE IS A VERY NOSTALGIC AND "STEP BACK IN TIME" FEEL TO IT. I CAN ALMOST SEE THE OLD RESIDENTS THAT USED TO LIVE HERE AND WHAT A TIGHT KNITT COMMUNITY IT WOULD HAVE BEEN BACK IN THE DAY.
BACK IN THE VICTORIAN PERIOD A BOY WHO WAS PLAYING ON THE STREETS OF MANCHESTER WAS APPROACHED MY A MYSTERIOUS OLD WOMAN WHO HE HAD NEVER SEEN BEFORE. SHE PAID THE BOY TO DELIVER A CAKE TO A MR DRUMMOND WHO LIVED DOWN THE STREET. UPON GETTING TO THE DOOR OF MR.DRUMMOND HIS WIFE ANSWERED THE DOOR AND REFUSED THE CAKE. THE BOYS MOTHER TOOK THE CAKE OFF HER SON AND DIVIDED IT UP SHARING IT TO THE NEIGHBOURS AND THE FAMILY. LITTLE DID THEY KNOW THAT THE OLD LADY HAD LACED THE CAKE WITH ARSENIC AND ONE OF THE FAMILY MEMBERS DIED AS A RESULT OF BEING POISONED. THE STRANGE OLD WOMAN WAS NEVER SEEN AGAIN OR CAUGHT.....

Yeah, to be honest I have to know as much as I possibly can when I’m researching and honestly it’s the worst part of the job for me lol not because there’s a lot of work to be done, but because I have to know as much as I possibly can. It almost becomes obsessive and I can’t switch off until I’m relatively happy with it ( which is never ) haha!

What's the story with the name Anita Street, I remember Martin Zero telling us in a video but I can't remember.
As you can see I'm on catch up, the first story with them railway arches rings a bell, I worked on a night club which was situated in side the arches, I think it was called The bee-jou, it was insurance job, it'd been petrol bombed, do you know of it ?
