'Wanna reassure you, we do watch this kind of video at Scania, and we pass around hyperlinks to colleagues. You are helping us improve, and it is appreciated. Many thanks ! I should say that I am a consultant at Scania R&D, and my response is only personal, but I know how the company values this kind of customer feedback.
Oh.. the door closing sound... normally it is incredibly good. When I close them I am always impressed, so I am surprised at that observation. That mudguard support grit trap is quite unimpressive.
'Hope that washing chemical is not harming the environment.

My experience with Scania is the staff are well versed in NOT giving information out regarding problems with their trucks. After a number of years of repairs and poor service and being told absolute bullshit, the only pleasure I got from the truck was disposing of it.

Totally disagree on the doors. They sound like on a luxury car instead of sounding like falling apart on the old model.
You definitely get all the tachoinfo on the dashboard, even in much more depth then on the old model, you just have to open the road symbol and scroll down. There you can push "OK" and insert it as a fixed feature on your dash.
And the made the bunker liftable instead of having the net feature.

1st world issues there Stavros 😂 but your right enough about them, especially considering the price. The amount they spend designing them you would think practical stuff like the hazard switch would be better. I'm not a fan of the switches on the door, I always think they will get soaked when reversing in the rain so need a cloth to cover them up.

Be aware that on the Volvo there's a temperature sensor in the cab tilt pump hole on the side where the pump isn't mounted. So don't insert the handle on the wrong side or you'd need a new sensor.
The window switches are designed that way due to legal reasons on some markets where it's not allowed to close a window by pushing down the switches, only by pulling up the switch. Originated as a child safety design for passenger cars to avoid decapitation.

I agree with your comments on how light weight a lot of the switch gear is on many modern trucks, there seems to be a desire to make them look nice rather than function well. No doubt replacement costs will be higher also? The window switches you pointed out on the window shelf will form a dirt trap in the recesses as well.

Looks like, there is no such thing as the perfect truck, but you would expect more from Scania with the price of them.
Wouldn't like to see water dropping down on the door switches, next thing is, mirrors adjusting, doors locking etc, without driver input. The fuse board, not great also. The sun visor would be better as an electric roll down shade, fitted out to the end of the windscreen.

This is the first video I have seen of yours and it was fantastic. That idea for washing the polishing cloths was brilliant. The one thing I really hate about the G type Next Generation is the fact that the windows don't go all the way down, a bit like the old P cab apparently you have to have the R type to get fully retracting windows. I reckon the idea for the air con to reset will be down to maximising the fuel figures which seem to be better with the next Gen models. All the best.

Well if the window switches are the same ones as Peterbilt use they will be a problem. They get water in them short out and fry the control module very expensive to fix. Peterbilt used the old rocker switch that you showed. They were so good they almost never broke. Same problems here as over there they don’t build them like they use to.

Pretty much my same dislikes. I tend not to use those side lockers for that same reason, broke a few finger nails on them. The sun roof covers is a pain being on manual, I like it closed but open on an evening. Water on the inside door when opening is a real annoying problem. I have the swivel seat on passenger side but again would have preferred a fold up one. I’m due a new one in December but I doubt anything will be improved. Nice vid👍

Two points I want to mention for you Stavros; One, which has been commented earlier, is that you can change your interface in the dashboard to set favorites, like your driving time and break time, amongst many other things. The second one is, my workplace has two Scania R500 nextgens, both rounded up about 650 000 kilometers on the trip each, and those window buttons are just as reliable as if it was brand new. I get your concern but if those babies can survive 600k km, that goes to show they are very durable. And these trucks don't have one driver each, they are swapped between 4 different drivers every 24 hours, rolling almost around the clock.

I have mine for 300.000km now and the truck is not bad, but it shows that it's made in France. Different width gaps all over the outside. When it's raining harder, while i drive water comes into the cabin where you showed so i need an umbrella. Infotainment screen freezes from time to time and i cant hang up bt call. Cabin heater blows warm air for about one hour, then it decides It's too hot, so it starts blowing freezing air until you have to start the truck to get good temperature back. Also i find it louder inside than older series. Also my freezer if i put on one snowflake It's not enough, if i put on two, everything freezes inside. And i bet there is some other faults too, that i can't remember right now

Agree with some points, lane departure for example mine picks up shadows in the road. First thing I do is turn it off. Also the rain dropping on the door panel really bothers me. But disagree with some points. The doors closing quietly is beautiful. You can modify the dash to mirror your tacho times on the dash display, sure you know that having driven 1 for a while? I don’t wear shoes in my truck I leave them on the top step and had them wet a few times. Cut a small v shape in each bottom corner of the seal, problem solved!

My prediction is with that fusebox in approx 8 years to 10 you will try to do the same thing and you will hear the cracking and snapping of plastic sounds as the clips give out.
While on the old one, you can still get away with it, although it may be a little rattly, but at least all the pieces will stay in place.

On US trucks, the lane depart warning doesn't turn on until you get to 35mph (~60 kmph)

I just hope it doesn't get the same cabin suspension the MAN had/has... The bounciest cabin after the Renault Magnum.

My good man. How do you prevent dirt from getting into the cab, you ask? By not wearing your shoes inside the truck! It's a bad habit!
Also, I love your videos ^^

I agree I like the more robust sound of the older truck, sounds more "trucky" for lack of a better term. But I bet the new truck is much quieter and smoother?

Without governors etc etc how fast do you think your Scania would go?

Ya I can't understand the 40k service intervals when other manufacturers are moving upwards towards 200k. Also the side skirts are easily damaged because they are too low.

Bottom locker can actually be opened one handed. Just give the lever a single pull and you can open the flap. It's not necessary to keep pulling while you open the locker. For me as a Scania mechanic the fusebox is way better than the previous one cause there's more working space around it and it's so easy to add circuits compared to previous model.
