Somehow Codemasters have a hard time making Finland look even close to what Finland looks like. It was same story with Dirt Rally 2.0. It's a shame because in DR 2.0 one of the best stages in the whole universe was ruined by the bad physics and now another amazing and iconic piece of road ruined by the choice of using Unreal Engine 4. Also they somehow managed to flatten the rollercoaster. In WRC the flow on Finnish roads is completely missing. It's a shame because the driving aspect of the game is rea-aly solid and Finnish roads should be the best thing since sliced bread. (Only roads I still can enjoy driving in RBR)
A lot of people have this misconception that Unreal Engine makes games look and behave certain ways, but it has nothing to do with it. The reason DR and EA WRC looks the way they do is an artistic choice. Probably because they think it will make them more money. It's a shame really.
There is some accurate points in WRC but the ambient, colors, trees(lack of it) and road textures are just wrong or bad. Should have done better job. Finnish stages in RBR, thanks to modders, are way more Finnish-like. I dont even mind if the road is not real road but the feeling, ambient and colors should be spot on.
