Why not just read the service manual and follow the instructions? You basically just pry it off using 2 flat head screw drivers. Here is the service manual instructions: -----------------THUNDERBOLT V IGNITION SYSTEM SERVICE MANUAL NUMBER 25--------- ----Rotor sensor wheel removal------------ Rotor and sensor wheel are secured to the shaft with Loctite. Use two flat blade screwdrivers. The screwdrivers are positioned opposite each other with the blade tips on the underside of the rotor and sensor wheel assembly. Make sure blade tips are toward distributor shaft until they come in contact with shaft. A downward push on both screwdriver handles at the same time will pry off rotor/sensor wheel assembly. The use of torch lamp will also aid in the removal of the rotor/sensor wheel assembly.
Tried the service manual procedure several times and it would not come off. Although I believe it was the factory original so after 30 years, time may have been a factor.
This works great!! I didn’t have a “hot knife” so I just heated an old hunting knife with a torch over and over. Came right off! Thank you!
Thank u for ur knowledge!!!
Thanks Nunyo! I was stumped by how to get that darn thing off. I'm going to try this.
I tried this and it really worked good
Just did this. worked well
I used a dremel tool and cut it off in about 6 pieces, then had to emery cloth the shaft to get the metal plate off, took about 10 min

This service manual approach didn't work for me, it's what I tried first since I didn't have a hot knife.
