Awesome idea on having the bedside made. I've had the same idea, and it's awesome to see someone actually do it. Gives me a serious consideration to going that route as well when it'd time for my project. Great job 👏 👍 👌
what an absolutely gorgeous truck this is gonna be. i love when people understand the flow of the original and stick to it when they customize. like the rails and the stakes are so similar to the original but just that next level of fit and finish that it all works. never understood leaving the big gap at the top of the stakes for crap to get in and rot it out... but then, my 2000 has crossmembers on the frame with open holes in the end, so either they never learned or its in the plan...
Coming along nicely, sir. I really like how you're cleaning up the bed. Those smoother lines around the top edge and filing that gap at the top of the support make a big difference visually.
Awesome video, when I get new metal I hate grinding the mill scale off. I take vinegar and xanthan gum to make a gel, brush it on nice and thick, place some plastic over it and bam! It eats up rust pretty good as well.. Look forward to your next phase, thanks for sharing!
I dont know what a steak pocket is but it sounds delicious! Build is coming along nicely. Great attention to detail! Would love to see a few more welding shots in action!
I built my own sides too. I didn't put pipe across the ends like you did yours looks good I like it. Wished I had of thought of that. Made my sides out of 11 ga.
Box sides finished of nicely, maybe finishing the upright pillars with half round pipe would have given it a new dimension and make it more uniform ... Just my thoughts
My one critique to boost your viewership- more energy when you're speaking. Kinda monotone. If youre wxcited about how something is going or frustrated let us hear that when u speak... This is TH-cam the majority of people watching these videos are doing so for entertainment. We are learning along the way, but adding a little zing could make a big differnce in popularizing your channel.
Looking good! You're doing pretty good so far. Keep it up!
That bed cap is awesome.
Fantastic metal work as always! 😎👍 That was a *nice touch* to wrap the tube around the front and back! 🔧
Appreciate it!

Thanks! Yeah i thought they’d cost more in sheet metal but when I got the quote it was a no brainer

Thanks! Well if they built everything to last they wouldn’t sell another truck!
@@CentennialCustoms planned obsolescence... hate it. i remember real cars from my childhood
OMG that looks so great, Love the custom metal fab work you did! 😍 Keep up the amazing work. The truck has come a long way in such a short time.
Appreciate it! Metal work is getting close to being done!

Thanks! Definitely better than the stock bed!

Appreciate the tip! I’ll have to give that a try.
Awesome work on the bed, GM couldn't have done it better. Looking forward to the next video.
Thank you! I think it’s the way they should have been now!
I need to remove a few stake pockets and relocate. Great job man. Love the content
Thanks

Haha steak pocket is just another name for a stake pocket on the bed! I’ll try to get some more welding shots in!

Can’t wait to see the 54 with a load, passing on the highway 😎
I’ll be passing you! Getting some rollers

Nice! I measured the old ones and they were 14ga so that’s what I went with
Nice job on the bed sides
Thanks!

Good job.
Thanks!
I’m working on my bedsides for my giveaway truck. I’m combining 2 1949 beds and fenders off a 73 Cabover.
Sounds like a cool project!
@ it’s getting there
I wish this video would have came out 2 weeks ago. I would of done a few things differently on my bed sides
Shoot! Sorry
@@CentennialCustoms hahaha no worries it’s metal. Easy to change
Hey what’s up 🥵
😏
What holds the tailgate closed?
Right now just clamps but I have hidden latches for it
@ I’m having a tailgate bent up for me. I’ll wait on your video for the hidden latches before I put mine on. Might steal some ideas
