That sculpture is Ondine Emerging From The Water by Ives. I saw it at an exhibition in Dallas many years ago. It's magnificent.
The Filipina woman looks very stunning! She's wearing a "Filipiniana Dress" which is a fashion trend for Filipinas during the Spanish Colonial Period. That Filipiniana dress now is called "MARIA CLARA" after the heroine of Jose Rizal's novel "Noli Me Tangere". The Filipiniana "Maria Clara" dress is compose of a Baro(Blouse) and a Saya(Skirt). The blouse is covered with a Pañuelo as a layer of protection for women, because at that time Bra's and other women's undergarments are still not invented. Therefore, that woman is indeed FILIPINA. Don't argue.
That picture is probably labeled as "Indio" i.e. the Spanish colonizers' term for indigenous Filipino people, and the Americans thought it meant Indian i.e. Native American.
@@chrysocolapteserythrocepha5915 indio are only for those uneducated locals, that lady is from the upperclass family mixed with spanish and chinese, a MESTIZA DE SANGLEY
I saw the picture of the young lady taken in the Philippines in a maritime museum in The Netherlands. According to the archive, her father was a Dutch port master stationed/orchestrating trade in Taiwan.
the dress tells it all. Traje de Mestiza, a traditional filipino clothing.
that statue is freaking amazing
'Undine' by Chauncy Bradley Ives (1884)
@@TazSua-du8jo thank you very much for that I was wondering who made it. This is truly one of the most amazing statues I've ever seen, I'm happy I got to see it.
I guess nobody else noticed the Chief from "1970" is singing into a gramophone and the recorder's garb looks more early century 🤷🏼♂️🤓😎✌🏼
Imma need that sculpture...
The window got sucked out because some maintenance worker used the wrong screws! 😮😮
Indeed -- Attention to detail & following policies & procedures make a huge difference between life & death...
The portrait of the Philipino woman, if you didn't know you could be fooled into thinking she was probably European!..
Yeah. Given her fine features & if she was in different attire.
Lol, she is not a European, care to look victorian photos and how they looks so different from her?.
@@lebellebonida-wt2il the commenter did not state that she's European. Please read the comment again.
@@user-kk9ig9eb8x thank you ✌️
Keep them coming. I love these.
It's amazing how people back then able to do that sculpture with 1 hand!
That second one is from a recreation/documentary of the event
I think the photo of Arnold, Wilt and Andre was altered. Andre was the tallest at 7’4”. Wilt was 7’1”. Arnold is 6’2”. I don’t think there would be that great of a difference if he was only a foot shorter!
Do you realize that a foot is around 30cm which is a huge difference in height?
They all had movie costumes on, so maybe someone was wearing the KISS boots?
WRONG -
7'4 with shoes but still taller than Wilt at 7'1 with shoes.
It was altered big time
that 1880 statue got me thirsting ONG
I love pictures like this
Seeing Arnold next to them hurt my brain
🇧🇷🇧🇷 These fotos are indeed unique.🇧🇷🇧🇷
That sculpture was so beautiful and life like.
Seeing someone make the TERMINATOR look like a dwarf is a mind fuck
Just a couple of battle buddies cuddling to keep warm
