Feels kinda weird to have a video during christmas eve 😂, but it's definitely amazing, like always. In my opinion, the SR-905 could certainly be renamed ''I-905''. Btw, did you see that classic old car at 1:42 (IDK what's the name)? Yesterday, a huge storm went to the Canada, with pretty strong winds & blowing snow. In Quebec city, the winds reaches a speed of something like 120 km/h, which is almost comparable with an hurricane strength 1. But I'm glad I didn't lost the power, unlike most other peoples. In Quebec, I think there were about 400 000 power outrages, especially in the Capitale-Nationale, the Laurentides & ther Outaouais. We also have someone who died, it's a 37 years old man. He lost control on his vehicle, then made a lurch. According to the Sureté Du Quebec, he died at the hospital. Now, the storm is in the eastern Quebec. In Baie-Comeau, the winds beaten a record of a speed of 131 km/h, but at least, the storm has passed on my sector. For the U.S. also, the temperatures went below the freezing point. Here's some examples: In South Dakota, the temperature felt is about -45. At Denver, -25 & Austin, -11. In Oklahoma city, the Temperature at this time of the year is about 10, but it might be a felt of -24 for the next nights. The government declared a state of emergency & reccomends to citizens to stay at their house. At St-Louis & Kansas City, a winter storm warning has been issued, which is something pretty rare for both cities. I hope you've been doing well during this storm, if you have something to share, don't hesitate, I'll be glad to read it 😉. Since it's christmas eve, I'll definitely consider this as a early christmas gift. I hope you're having a great christmas & happy early new year!
Beautiful drive. Not sure how much I like the slanted freeway lighting though. Caltrans must allow for some pretty high superelevation rates. That ramp to SR-905 is probably the steepest I've seen, on bridge nonetheless. I wonder if that's the border wall going over the mountain near the end of the video.
I think that the slanted light standards formerly housed fluorescent tube luminaries, which probably fit the look they were going for more than the current fixtures do. And yeah, CalTrans can get away with crazy super elevation. I'd guess the ramp to the 905 Freeway is at something like 6-8%. There is a border wall along most of the southern tier of California between the US and Mexico. You can actually see the wall in a few places while driving along I-8 heading towards the Imperial Valley. Thanks for the comment.
Interstate 5 travels between Los Angeles and San Diego but interstate 405 is called the San Diego freeway and ends in Irvine north of the interstate 5/ Bake parkway interchange. Interstate 405 would travel directly through Cox sports park where it would likely intersect crown valley parkway In Ladera ranch and next interstate 405 would tear through rancho San Clemente and last but not least where would interstate 405 cross between Camp Pendleton and Oceanside. The terrain is too rugged east of where interstate 5 currently passes besides the Pacific Ocean.
I know these roads so well! I used to travel the 8 and 805 every day!

805 is not in Oceanside fyi, it’s northern en is Del Mar where it merges with the 5 which does go to oceanside
