Why does the Dragon Born ask who he is still after defeating Miraak. Wouldn’t they already know from being in his realm and giving up the Skaal’s secrets to him? Bit weird.
right?? i wish they'd kept the void-like model from before the db dlc came out for this part. asking for a name would at least make sense with visual differences, here it just feels like an oversight making your character forcibly unobservant. =(
On my first play through I killed Miraak first. All I did afterward was get married, kidnap a child, and build a house. When Mora said he was pleased it was quite wholesome.
This reminds me of how Sheogoraths quest in oblivion has different dialogue depending on how far you've progressed through the shivering isles questline.

I still can’t get over the fact that after you defeat Miraak, the devs didn’t think to put in radiant fetch quests as his ‘champion’. It could have been a simple copy and paste of the quests for the College librarian.

Can't be helped. Dragonborn is very busy with many works of being in Dark Brotherhood, Thieves Guild, Companion, Running Errand, Stormcloak, Imperial, Dragonborn, and many more.
Also note that if you complete this quest and get his Oghma Infinium before you see him in the DLC (You can go to Solstheim before, but if you meet Hermaeus before obtaining the book it doesnt change), he will refer to you as his Champion and says he knows you have his Oghma Infinium, regardless if youve used the book or not (By this i mean when you use the Book, it disappears but he will say 'you have it' even if its been used, stored or in your inventory)
Well he gives it to you, I think it's taken away from the inventory just for gameplay purposes but the dragonborn doesn't actually consume it upon reading it. unlike spells which I think it is canon that when you learn them the book destroys itself
@albertattei7622 not really the full point of my comment but yes, they remove the book for game play purposes as the book increases the skills assigned to a specific class i.e, Mage, Warrior and Thief, and if you could use it over and over, you can become God without all the grinding for levels like Bethesda and Todd intended

What's does Mora do? Get knowledge by any means necessary. What does Dragonborn do? Auto absorb the souls and knowledge of dragons. Now imagine Mora with a dragonborn's power but without limitation. Mora has an unusual amount of black soul gems in his realm. He made a Word Wall. And of course having the og dragonborn and is Oblivion bent on getting the last one.
if you meet Hermaeus Mora before going to solstheim and read a black book before starting the dragonborn questline, he;ll say something like "You see? I told you your free will was a myth- why else would you be here, in my realm? You will be my champion." I probably butchered it but still lmao
it would've been cooler for them to have the option of you recognise Mora and have him note you're still her champion, to add a further refusal or giving into his will, as a sort of hint to your future.

Rather than the opposite of hiding and or destroying information because it's contrary to their feeling at this moment while ignoring any chances to offer help to others. That and if you do a go-to character command, you see an Orc male appear when it's Hermaeus Mora.
I always like to think about the guy who got to voice act whatever character. Imagine applying for the job of being the voice of an eldritch mass of tentacles.

If you complete “Discerning the Transmundane” before starting the Dragonborn quest, the dialogue will be slightly different during the cutscene where Hermaeus Mora gives you the second word of power for Bend Will. It also allows you to have slightly different dialogue with Neloth and tell him that you’ve read the Ohgma Infinium before that sweet trek through the dwemer ruins
That reaction kinda sucks. Maybe there should be a mod that changes it. like Dragonborn: "Who are you?" More: "Don't give me that crap, you know exactly who I am. Listen, fucksponge, it's time for Round 2."

Honestly, little things like this make me appreciate games like Kingdom Come more… The writing, attention to detail, and maintenance of continuity is leagues above Skyrim and oblivion

Honestly the most natural flow is to get the Ogma Infinium first THEN do Dragonborn. He has different dialogue if you did it in this order.
