For the first time on the channel, we are checking out Supertramp and they are incredible! I had no clue there would be 3 keyboard players and horns! Such a unique sound all around, but the singer really threw me for a loop! Hope you enjoy! #reaction #supertramp #thelogicalsong #musicreactions

This could have been written this morning!! Their orchestration was the first of the kind for the time. Always amazing. Their “Goodbye, Stranger” was featured onSupernatural sparking a new generation of listeners.

Boomer here. So happy to see someone reacting to Supertramp. You don't hear their name mentioned enough. I can tell you that their sound stood out - no other band sounds like them. And they had a message / sentiment that others were not sharing. At least that's how I felt. I really appreciate your reactions

The digital sample you heard when Roger sings "d-d-d-d-digital" was added on the fly in the recording studio, where the guys from the band played with a hand-held electronic soccer game from Mattel. They preserved that sound for the live gigs.

Supertramp is a great English rock band formed in 1969. They had so many hit songs in the 70's-80's such as "Dreamer", "Give A Little Bit", "Goodbye Stranger", "Breakfast In America", "Rudy", "Take The Long Way Home", "School", "It's Raining Again", "Bloody Well Right", "My Kind Of Lady", "Cannonball", "I'm Beggin' You", "You Win, I Lose" etc.

There are three keyboards and a grand piano on that stage. Roger Hodgson (Lead singer) plays the guitar. Check out "Goodbye Stranger" Roger does a cool electrical guitar solo at the end of the song. The "Digital" sound was NOT a cellphone. We didn't have them back then. It sounds like an old fashioned alarm clock (The kind that you had to wind up to set). There was NO other band like Supertramp. And apparently they were too progressive to get into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Check out "Child of Vision" live too.

Glad you enjoyed this gem of a song. I have to say I prefer the recorded version given the precise orchestration of the song. I suggest you check it out. Supertramp was a uniquely imaginative rock band. Their standard of originality and playful exploration was always met and surpassed! Truly superb!

This band has 2 lead singers, the other one being the guy on keyboards who was behind the main singer singing harmony. That is Rick Davies. This singer is Roger Hodgeson who also plays guitar, just not on this song.

There's a great live performance of Take the Long Way Home.
Since you clearly missed seeing a guitar player in this one, you can't do better than the outro on my absolute favorite Supertramp song, Goodbye Stranger! The lyrics for both of these, as well as The Logical Song, are a big part of their lasting interest for me.
