So, despite many problems in Vidya's film Parineeta such as Vidhu Vinod Chopra wanting a star, screen testing her for months, wanted to change her nose, Saif not too sure, etc... the movie came out with Vidya in the lead cast. Looking at the film, wouldn't have known so much fuss over people behind the scenes not wanting Vidya. Surprised that Vidya managed to put on a performance regardless of what she went through filming the movie.

She is very pretty indeed.. but with so many great designers n living in a plush city that too being a top actress, there's no excuse to be a poor dresser that too most of the time.. with lil guidance from designers like Manish malhotra, Ritu kumar, Sabyasachi,Nitu lulla she can definitely rock , enhance her natural beauty n body n shut many fault finders too..

I am aware that malayalam cinema has done some brilliant work. I watch them even though I don't understand the language. N I esp love Kerala - blessed with nature's beauty beyond doubt. I love its food, I love the place.

fakecrime She is a public figure, she is a star by the virtue of her fans. She cannot disregard their opinions. The least she could do is to hear them out. It is not like the woman was hating on Vidya that she deserved to be slapped. The woman actually complimented her on her good looks, but gave her a good advice. 90% of Vidya's public appearances have her wearing hideous clothes. Vidya should have taken it constructively and worked on it, instead of desiring to slapping her wellwisher, which was a very juvenile and immature thing to say.
reddya10 That's true, she did choose this profession and therefore will always be under the public's eye. But people often forget that these celebrities are human, too. They have feelings and it's only human for one to react as such when people keep breathing down her neck with regards to how she should dress/shed weight. Plus, Vidya is an actor first, not a fashionista. I find it odd how you pick just ONE moment in a candid interview (in which she's allowed to speak her mind), to label her as "immature". IMHO Vidya is one actress who carries herself very well compared to some air-headed actresses in the industry we have today.

fakecrime Humans have feelings, I agree. But there is an accepted way of showing them. You can't slap people just because they point out a fact about you. Vidya is an actor first, correct. Then why is she doing all these shows, ads and not just acting in films? That is because she is a public persona too, not just an actor. And do read my comment again, I did not label her immature. At that particular point, whatever she said was really immature and I pointed it out. And she may be better than a lot other "air-headed actresses" that you refer to, but I'm not getting into comparisons now.

Well, majority of actress' are in good shape and dress up better, people can follow them. Vidya has carved a niche of her own, so if she needs to watch her weight or her fashion, it's her personal choice, otherwise she is more known for her work and she is still in the industry for that. If only being pretty, having a good body and dressing up better gets her an audience, then she wouldn't be here. That being said, it's true what you said that these things are part of being an actor, but if I want to see actress' who are pretty faces with good fashion sense, there are other people.
