O.o never had this many customers out of power for a cat one hurricane.... Hmmm we've had bigger and smaller storms without this much problem. I've seen worse damage after Alicia, lke, Allison, Harvey, etc and it didn't take this long so what the real reason because I'm not seeing the damage I saw with those storms as an insurance adjuster. So don't feed me a line of BS. NOT TO MENTION I'VE TALKED TO MY COUSIN WHO IS A LINEMAN AND HE SAYS THIS STORY IS JUST THAT A BS STORY. TIME TO GET AMY DAVIS, RANDY WALLACE, AND MARIO DIAZ TO FIND THE TRUTH ABOUT WHAT IS REALLY GOING ON.

Maybe they’re doing everything they can do NOW, but what were they doing all along to prepare? Things like tree trimming and line maintenance. Poles all over the place are always tilted and completely not maintained. So all those regular maintenance items are neglected and they act surprised so many are without power.
Typical more money for management and letting the chips fall where they may for the consumer, especially in a monopoly.

4:58 This interview just confirmed my suspicions. Centerpoint confessed to having too much vegetation/trees around distribution centers. What does this mean? They expect us to do work for them but don’t tell us directly. The less we know the less work they have.
We “customers” need to contact them to handle the trees near the power lines. It’s “free”. Keep calling them, ensuring they are doing their jobs. I’ve had issues with this. Anyone with trees by power lines please contact them once they’ve completed returning power to everyone. Keep calling in. Check in. Double check in. Triple check in. I had to do that for 8 months to ensure my trees were dealt with. Check in again even after someone comes and says yeah I’ll put in an order for tree service. 2x after being told so I was told by their offices that no order was inputted 🤦🏻‍♀️
Last week a tree service contractor for Centerpoint finally trimmed my trees. They said it wasn’t my trees that would cause a power outage. My neighbors’ trees would cause a power outage. Yeah Centerpoint already knew that but didn’t handle it. They won’t handle it unless you bug them to do their job. It’s a monopoly so you have to be on top of them. They have nothing to lose but we have people that we can lose due to their negligence.

Composite pole? They have been around for decades, why did they not implement them after Ike? The wood pole that had not been replaced fell down, why? Maybe because it was not designed for wind because it was under 60’ tall? Maybe the composite pole was designed for wind? CNP had this wind discussion after Ike and decided to continue not designing for wind under 60’. Now they have realized their mistake and started designing for wind under 60’ tall, why the change, a little too late? Maybe they were wrong after Ike and wind does blow below 60’? Just ask any Houstonian. That is about 14 years we missed out on system upgrades that would have mitigated the damage. Bad call CNP.
I hope the PUC grills them on this discussion and we get answers.
