bro youre literally what I like about camera videos on youtube. theres still so many channels out there that are gems but are not getting views. keep it up brotha!
This is very similar to my Olympus AF-10 super, probably need to change the battery on the door interior in order for the LCD (back pannel screen) to work.
I owned one these in the early/mid 90's. I never had any problems with 'finger in the front of the lens', or with the 'rectangle in the viewfinder'. It cost me around £100/£120 new. It's a decent little camera, for its time. If you paid $100 for yours now, I'd say you paid well over what it's worth. Just to note.., Kodak Portra is a professional grade film. ( and rather expensive, especially at today's prices for 35mm film ). Olympus generally do decent lenses, but that film will have helped in your pics. Most people who used this camera back in the day would never be using a professional grade film in what was a mass market consumer point and shoot. Nice pics though.
Thanks for the insight. I might add that based on current market values, shooting Olympus glass like this for $100 is a steal when the Mjus are going for several hundred. It’s a point and shoot and wasn’t meant for anything special when it came out, but now we are living in a world where point and shoot photos can make it into high fashion magazines and model books. Gosha Rubchinsky campaign photos were shot on a Contax T2 which is still a point and shoots. Times have changed.
I know this is an older video but I just got a first roll back from an Olympus OM-1 and I thought I was the only one who felt that twinge of disappointment at how “normal” the photos looked 😅 I downloaded them into my phone and to be honest they blended right with my phone photos. I don’t know what I was hoping for .. something more.. film-y?
Good on you! I'm getting rid of the AF-10 and I soon want to grab the Super because... its really everything you could want out of a Point and Shoot for the price imho! Best of luck on your journey.
For me, the Konica. I love Pentax Cameras, however I find that Konica makes better glass for Point and Shoots. Just my opinion. Also I have a distrust of Point and Shoots with zoom capabilities. They seem to break more often.
I'm looking for a point and shoot and I appreciate that both your videos on p&s highlight very affordable options. between the Konica BM 201 and this which do you recommend?
That's a tough choice, but if it were me, I'd go with the Olympus all day. It has traveled with me everywhere and has yet to let me down, rain or shine.
@@ebayuser2993 in my experience it absolutely does, and I think it produces a better overall color based on my experience with the Konica. To be honest, I sold the Konica very quickly because I wasn't very impressed with it felt so flimsy like I was going to break it just by having it.

@@ebayuser2993 I really appreciate your feedback! It's immensely helpful as sometimes it's hard to know where I am with them :) ! As for P&S I am not one to spend much money on cameras as I am more focused on the photos themselves, so I try to stay within my means. I have had a lot of experience with Olympus P&S and I would probably invest in an XA2 just because of how well it performs in almost every situation and the price isn't nearly what a Contax T2 is. There is also the Nikon L35AF2 that I have used and enjoy shooting with, another brick! It is a less expensive version of the L35AF with a 3.5 lens instead of a 2.8. Yes and it takes better pictures imho. The Konica always felt like a toy, dishonest in its existence as a Point and Shoot. The Olympus, however, doesn’t betray its purpose. It’s quick, well metered, and sharp. It takes very little prep to use and it gets the job done nearly every time :)
I really hope you will answer. So my Olympus, when I put battery and film in it, still the counter shows S. I tried 100 combinaton with film but still it’s not moving. Not showing 1 or 2 etc. Only S. What does it mean?
It means that the mechanism for advancing the film is not automatically working. When you close the back after putting the film in, the camera should automatically begin advancing the film by three frames. I myself had this camera go awry in a similar way as the motor just gave out eventually with a roll stuck inside it. Hope this helps!
I just picked up one of these! How do you like this compare to mju 1 & 2, lens wise? I was gonna get the mju instead but they cost well over $400 canadian lol. I got this for $25 haha.
What an absolute steal. I'm a big fan of Olympus's lenses and the Olympus AF-10 is definitely packing. The quality of image is so comparable to the mju series. Only minor sharpness in my pixel peeking experience. Now, if you get your shots scanned at high res, then you'll see that the difference is marginal and that the price difference is TOTALLY a matter of trend inflation. The same happened with the Konica BM201, which are dinky little things that have a reputation for irreparable breaking. Hope this helps! 🤙
You CAN use a phone with a film scanning app and have no problems for instagram because your resolution will be okay :). I used a flatbed scanner called the EPSON V550! So basically you’ll have a roll of negatives after getting your photos developed and the next thing you need to do is find the best resolution for the lowest price! There are kits for scanning with household cameras, phones, and tons of economical flattened scanners for film. Otherwise you’d need to use a film lab! I hope this answered your question 🍻
You take the film out of your camera and then you must develop the film! Then scan the developed film, my friend. The scans will now be digital images. From there you can email/upload your photos to phone via google, Dropbox, email, usb, etc. I hope this has helped! P.S. most people get their film scanned by a photo lab
Hi there, I am actually having a problem with my Olympus AF-10. So, when I open the shutter, the red light flash for a second. And it did not open flashlight when I am taking picture in the dark. Is there anything wrong with my camera?
@@han3651 I'm not sure about the light flashing, however when I use my AF-10 the light does not blink before the flash goes off, it only stays a solid red to let me know that flash is ready whoch is why I suspect that the batteries are going.
So theres a lot that can make an image look sharper both in the image and on the screen. First and foremost I can say that objectively the 35mm photos wouldn't compare to a $600 sensor. However, there are other factors that would make it seem so. 1.) Editing the photos for better quality with a youtube compression in mind. 2.) Adding some sharpness to the image itself. And 3.) That the image itself will look sharp regardless because it is compressed. If we compared a digital image of a mirror less camera to a 35mm image from an AF10 side by side, you'd immediately see that the mirrorless would be much sharper!
The differences fall into DX code readability. The af 10 can go up to 1600 ISO while the Mjui can do 3200. The mjui also has a slightly better focusing system and lens. If I were traveling to Europe, I would bring the AF 10 Super simply because I prefer the durability of the body and the price on Ebay is still excellent IMO.
So the AF-10 is the Quartz-date, but often times the quartz-date is left out or shortened to "QD" because it is implied. So, they are the same camera. A major question is the difference between the Olympus AF-10 "QD" and the "Super" as those are the two major differing models of the AF-10 series
I'm not sure I understand the question. You would have to get them scanned and developed into digital copies, and from there you can post onto Instagram! If you're still having trouble feel free to get in touch! 🤙
@@JSoulKeys the major difference is going to be controls. You'll have some dials by the lens for flash control whereas the AF 10 QD in my video is auto flash. IMHO the Super is the way it should have been and it keeps you shooting for longer as the sun goes down, given that the slowest shutter speed will be 1/45. 🤙
They have the same lens, however with the super, you have flash control. The quality will be the same. Also important to note is that in low light, your lowest shutter speed is 1/45th and that both AF10's will only read up to 800iso film.
