Super Dragon is the Godfather of California Indies, he's both amazing fluid and glides from move to move, while at the same time, he makes his offense look so brutal and vicious, a rare breed of wrestler indeed
Dudes amazing. Sad to see he literally can't wrestle anymore. His last return to pwg wasn't even going to happen due to his injuries but the bucks convinced him. Wish he was tearing it up in AEW right now.
It's always amazing to see just how much influence Super Dragon has had on the modern wrestling scene. Throughout the 2010s, you had tons of people coming out of ROH and PWG, who have adopted so many of his moves, and now they're inspiring more now that they're becoming the veterans. Shame he doesn't get nearly the credit he deserves.
Such an outrageous set of moves haha, wrestling this guy must've been a nightmare. Those Tombstones on Evans and Davey were gnarly! Also glad he changed up the Barry White Driver, the original where he just pulled them over by the head looked so dangerous haha. Quality video again man!
Yeah, straight up spiked their asses. I think about Dragon back in the day describing some of his moves to his opponents back in the day when he was still kinda fresh. I bet he got a lot of nos down the line lol. I agree with you on the Barry White Driver. He gave Quicksilver a stinger with it once, and it was the head pull version. I think it may have been the last time he did it like that.
@@tcwentertainment Yeah, it's when someone thinks they broke their neck/back because they can feel much, but some nerves were overstretched from an impact.
Love coming back to this every now and then, picking up on different moves every time and seeing more of his incredible influence over current wrestling. My favorite US wrestler of all time
I've always liked the UFO, being Super Dragon or anyone else doing it. It's such a cool move, that could be easily a finisher if it's executed like Super Dragon does. Another awesome video, keep up the great work!
I agree! He actually got a couple pins with it. Pinned Excalibur with it in APW. It's a beauty of a move, and he would nail people with it. Appreciate the comment as always bro!
Probably one of the the most "Unassuming" guys to ever hit a ring , other than his costume he's not much to outright "look" at at first sight with his physique. Once in the ring he's quite a sight to behold , somewhere between Ultimo , Liger , Misawa and Kawada with a varied amount of classic holds with his own sadistic touch to them , powerbombs , suplexes , rare brainbusters and strikes of any kind with agile high flying moves peppered in just to cover all angles. Also did he get 17 from Davey Richards?
He was doing that 5 or so years before Davey. I wouldn't be surprised if he gave it to Davey. He started using the DR Driver II around the time he started wrestling actively in ROH, most likely because Jay Briscoe was using the J-Driller.
@@ThunderFilez I could see that though I'm not sure if Davey has a real major wrestler hes based himself around so couldn't guess via that ((Id give him the same fusion aa id give Danielson which is Tiger Mask 1 x Chris Benoit)) , then again cant go wrong with the double underhook piledriver
God damn... I knew super dragon was good, but ive never actually seen a lot of his matches, and his moves are so diverse and interesting... I think I need to watch more super dragon
Super Dragon’s Springboard Spinning Heel Kick might actually be as good as Ohtani’s, if not even better. And that’s saying something, because to me young Shinjiro Ohtani had the most vicious looking Springboard moves, even to this day. Also I love how happy everybody gets whenever Dragon hit the Phoenix Splash. Like there’s always at least one dude jumping up and down celebrating like ”yeah, he fucking did it!!”.
Yeah, the UFO was something else. To be fair though, half the time, Dragon would hit their legs, or overshoot and completely miss. I used my best 5 clips for the UFO in this video. Granted, when he hit it right, it was a thing of beauty.
He's one dude I've always wanted to meet. I think you're the reason I first learned about him, TFZ. The more I learned about indies, I would always search the internet for info.
Like I said in a previous vid, Super dragon is a vindictive bugger. Curb stomps and stamps DIRECTLY to the head, Five different Psyco Drivers - if you count from the Top Rope, and of course *deep voice* Oh baby - The Barry White driver. Fantastic vid mate. Thanks.
The diving headscissors (50) is super cool, though i can see why no one else does it His back suplex (47) looks amazing and also looks way safer than a lot of folks back suplex. Tilt a whirl backbreaker (45) is beautiful I hate that surfboard spike (43), pointless neck drops. I know people talk about how he never injured anyone, but i wonder how many people he gave concussions to, but they were just accepted as part of working for him The suicide dives (39) are phenomenal, he launches so much Some of them buckle bombs (38) look very unsafe. Again i wonder how many people he gave whiplash, but it wasnt thought of as serious enough to be an "injury" by people Spinning impaler (35) seems risky too, impaler is already a bit risky because you need to not over rotate while someones got your head hooked and pointed at the ground, and preferably you land a bit on the person doing it. None oof thats applicable when being swung around. Tornado ddt guillotine (34) super cool, and you can really tell how fairly safe it can be by seeing samoa joe take it Some of them tombstones (33) seem rushed and rough The diving foot stomps (29) are look great, but i think you can tell by how he lands after that hes very much protecting the taker as much as he can The hung underhook ddts (27) are really cool, closer to a brainbuster than a ddt (probably for the best) Avalanche butterfly suplex (26) are super nice as well Missile dropkick babadunk (23) is a cool spot Cradled brainbusters (17) are very impressive Ive never really liked his curb stomp (15) the feel both a bit underdone and a bit rough, like hes just treading on someones head Diving head stomp (13) jesus christ. Imagine agreeing to that lol. At least hes doing it with a similar care to the previous diving stomp. And if wrong it probably wont kill someone (no brain movement "just" skull compression), but wow That dragons fire (11) is cool Turnbuckle curbstomp (10) i dont like the risk of whiplash with the neck movement there, but ignoring that this is a much better looking move than the regular Chair head stomp (8) jesus again, though technically safer due to less fall distance, but you can really see some peoples head rattling with it so i take back some of my previous praise. His pheonix splashes (7) are absolutely beautiful Psychodriver 1 (6) 2 (4) 3 (3), barry white driver (2) fuck no. Don't drop people on their head and necks. Theres no chance he didnt injure anyone with these. he just didnt decommission anyone Some of them were face bumps and they still look good and would hurt, ive got no respect for the rest At least the avalanche psycho drivers (1) are less fucked up
The first Psycho Driver (and even BWD to an extent) actually doesn't look too bad to me, IF the guy receiving can flip over and get their knees down first, as shown in some of the clips. That's a big if though. The pumphandle variation definitely should never have been done.
I get so giddy every time I see a Barry White driver 💀 it so scary but I can't look away. It should never be done, but if anybody is demented enough to do an avalanche BWD I'll be sure to pour a whole liter bottle at your funeral my friend
Perhaps I underestimated this guy. Dude put his body on the line in the indies forever and despite his wild moves seems to be a safe and solid worker. Although he's very illusive and his identity is vague but I guess that's the mystique of super dragon. People wouldn't have him any other way.
@@ThunderFilez the springboard spining heel kick is absolutely perfect and the psycho driver is one of the most brutal looking finishers I've ever seen. Its unfortunate he's not in the condition to wrestle anymore

The fact that the Top Rope Head Stomp looks so dangerous but yet he injured no one with it it’s amazing. It proves what a hell of a wrestler he was.
Yeah definitely. Super Dragon came off like a stiff asshole in the ring, but he was relatively safe most of the time.
