Never owned a pinball machine before and decided to fully restore an older Bally SS. I know general wiring and how to read schematics but that only goes so far. These are really helpful
Very helpful! I did a search on a whim here looking to diagnose an issue with my JJP GNR, and this is exactly what I needed. I’m back up and playing thanks to you!
Great Video! working on my 1st pinball machine this helped me repair mine & get me back in the game! Thanks Jack!!
Excellent instruction. Thank you for taking the time to do this.
Thanks for this. I'm fixing up a Capcom Breakshot and I now have all 3 bumpers being SUPER unresponsive. The switches all work and the bumpers themselves fire correctly but it takes a lot of effort to get the switches to trigger. Also the ring snapped on BOTH sides on one of them!
I hope the repairs go well. Bumper parts are hard to find for Capcom games...
Thank you, I really appreciate these tutorials👍
Awesome Lessons! Thank you 👍

@@chinering23 Ya, finished Gorgar.. Pop Bumpers are not easy to tear apart and assemble.. learned that the hardway.. ;-)
Very well done, informative, and entertaining. Thanks for making this Butch!

Excellent videos. Keep them coming. Very informative
Thanks!
Fantastic video and information for a beginner, like me. Thanks!
These are great, thanks for the for the informative videos. I can’t wait for the up kickers because my hobbit right hole kicker keeps getting hung up in the wire form. Please do those soon.
Thanks Allen!
Great info
Wow!...this is the best. I'm going to learn how to be a tech from these. lol
Thank you! :)
Awesome video. Haven’t lifted my playfield up to check yet but my skirt keeps sticking and then not working. I take the glass off and wiggle a little then works again for a bit then stops. Would you assume the alignment is off making the skirt stick in the “down” position?
Great video. May I ask a question? Your switch has a diode in use. I understand diodes for the coils, but what is the reason to have it for the switch? Can you explain that? Thanks! Keep up the great work.
I'm curious why you omitted the scoring leaf switch from your pop bumper demonstration device? It's just as critical a component in any pop bumper assembly, and requires maintenance, adjustment and sometimes replacement.
23:35 This is exactly what happened to my bumper, the bottom thread broke off the rod and I found the 6-32 nut in the bottom of the cabinet!
can you help me find a 12v fast popping acuator
I have three pop bumpers. All pop. One does not score. Is this is issue most likely in the pop bumper or elsewhere?
It means one of the wires going to or from it either broke off or is poorly connected. Gently tug each wire going to that bumper and see if one of them breaks off. That one is probably your culprit.
You did good, however I came to determine when a coil is bad and how to replace it. That wasn’t covered here.
Coils are bad when they look charred or smoked. They're also bad if they measure less than 3 ohms of resistance on a digital multimeter. If you pull it out of the mech and can't get the sleeve to come out, it means it got so hot that it melted a bit and needs to be replaced. To replace it, de-solder the old one off, buy a new coil (make sure it's the same number + the correct sleeve for it) and re-aseemble.
