We sailed away from Le Havre to Bilbao. We were dreading it because of all the stories about the Bay of Biscay and storms...... For us, the weather was brilliant and we were mostly unaware that we were out in the sea. So we took the opportunity to look around the liner, and in the evening, went to a brilliant show. I wasn't sure whether I would be allowed to video in the theatre, so I didn't, but it was really good. We also took the opportunity to eat the biggest ice cream that I have ever eaten. We literally had a tea tray served up for each of us. Helena couldn't eat it all but I did!! It's not cheap, but really worth trying out. They call it their 'Ice Cream Tea'. The ship comes to life at night with so many activities. Even a 'silent disco' where you wear headphones and dance around like a muppet. there was an out loud disco going on when we took a little stroll. Then there are the swimming pools and the jacuzzis scattered around. We took a swim in a heated pool at the back of the ship in late October while in France!!!! The pools are shielded by glass panels around the edge of the boat. So .... what to do when you all at sea ........
I could barely walk after all that ice cream. They sell it as an ice cream tea! And we finished it too!!!! Helena was worried about the Bay of Biscay: especially at the end of October going into November. Also, we went right out into it to get back to France. We really thought we might hit something but we’re very lucky. The strange thing was that it was really flat and we were followed by dolphins. They only popped up for a second at a time, so I couldn’t really catch them on video. I got two very quick rises from them when we were on the balcony at one point. The whole thing was brilliant and we’re off again in Spring, going around the whole of Spain to the south of France and back again. I’m looking forward to visiting Barcelona and Cadiz especially. I love Barcelona and never been to Cadiz. The ship is stopping at various ports along the way so that’ll be two weeks and a very large video. This trip was a week and I took around 1000 clips, so I’ll probably be looking at around 2000 next time.
@@iancraig Sounds like it was perfect! Makes a change for the Bay of Biscay to be flat. Going round Spain should be a fantastic trip I have always fancied Spain but not made it yet. Sounds like a lot of editing next on your next trip. I hope the weather is kind to you for that one!

Y'all really ate all that food???? 😋
Oh yeah ….. sure did! Regretted it later though …….
That afternoon tea was quite something! I have heard from a family member how bumpy it can be in the Bay of Biscay. Looks like you got through it ok.
