I was just here in early April with my family, and we had a blast. We didn’t ride any rides this time because it was too crowded, but we bought souvenirs at Wings gift shop, rented scooters, bought ice cream, walked the boardwalk, went to Silver Fin to eat, and had a great day viewing the gorgeous sunset. It is is hard to park, but love the free parking. We❤️San Diego, especially Mission Beach. I would go back again and again. (LA born and raised, but engaged in San Diego, many years ago, and always loved it more than LA).
You are slowly giving me hope again by seeing how awesome California always is. I have been here before and this brings back some awesome memories. The sunset close is also awesome.
Mission Beach is a really fun spot to people watch. I used to go bodyboarding there and I remember when MTV arrived to broadcast one of their shows in that location. Such a storybook setting with the beach, rollercoaster, and amusement park. Straight out of a fairy tale. I sure miss those times.
We are coming to SD with two little kids in less than a week. They’ve never seen the ocean. We are staying at Bahia and can’t wait to explore Belmont Park and the boardwalk. Thank you for the tour (and the bathroom tip)!!
Visited three years ago. Fell in love with The Misson restaurant. Food and people are great. Great selection of Latino breakfasts and have a Hammerhead! Not on the beach, but on Mission Blvd.
Hi Chris. Thanks for the walking tour. I can see why this is your favorite beach in San Diego. Lot's of food options and activities to do. The boardwalk is not as pack together as Venice Beach and definitely not as sketchy and free parking. Travelling Princess would really enjoy Mission Beach.
Always enjoyable watching your walking tours. Beautiful beach, thanks for all the info on shops & yummy eats. Great video of the area you grew up in. Thanks Chris
Yes it is all built on a sand bar. Walk from Belmont north to Crystal Pier. It's a Local thing to do. btw, my My Mom was the telephone operater at the Islandia in the 1960's. My Dad was a Bellman at the Catamaran. I spent countless summer days at Belmont until 1972 when I was 12. 💜.
Thanks Chris !!! Loved seeing Belmont Park again.... our Little League coach used to take the team to Belmont Park at the end of the season in the late 60's... it was fantastic !!!!!
Good walking tour.I like Mission beach, used to go there many years ago.I was last there in 2003.I may come for a visit next Fall. You really capture all the fun and excitement.and share with us so much information. Thanks!
I didn’t know about that pool!! That’s awesome! I would definitely get a pass I think you said they had one. I’ll be moving to San Diego in a few months, Wanted to learn about the beach areas! I can’t wait to live here!! Eventually I wanted to live in LA, Maybe I’ll fall in love with SD and won’t want to leave!
Nice 👍🏾! I grew up in San Diego too back in the 70s and 80s…Then the Navy shipped me out 🤣✌🏾 I love and miss Mission beach! Thanks for an awesome video tour. 😇 Looks way different now with all the new shops along the boardwalk, but still enjoyed watching. Brings back very good memories!
I went there 3 times recently in the last few weeks I’m returning again for sure. Lots to do there during these times. The crowd does not bug me at all I bought an annual pass for Belmont park
I think I was there a week before you uploaded this video. I was there Friday- sunday during spring break. Was so crazy every night..beach is always pretty boring unless you have a bunch of people to hang around with I guess, other than that the atmosphere is pretty cool. San Diego number 1 as always.
This video series is definitely putting San Diego on our "fly to" list. (My husband just started with a certain West Coast airline based out of Seattle and we'll start getting to use our flight benefits soon! 😉) Thanks for helping us plan our trips!!
Love Mission Beach, used to stay there when I lived in CA. I probably visited 6-7x and never realized there was an indoor pool. Also, good point on the sketchiness. I moved out of Venice Beach in 2016 and it sounds like it has gotten worse from what my LA friends tell me.
Yeah.. most people don't know about the Plunge (the pool).. but its been there since the 1920s :). And yes.. Venice is rough.. I just shot some video there today.. stay tuned for that video next week
how is there weather there? im going there at the 24th of may hope it’s a sunny day so i can have a better experience! will the weather be good at the end of may?
Great vid! Answered a lot of my q's! Taking my fam of 5 (2 under 10 y/o) early oct while school is on break. Couple questions tho.. would you suggest getting wrist bands for the Littles at Belmont or just purchasing individual tix? & is the water too cold to swim in that time of year? Thx again!
On Belmont Park.. depends how long you want to stay there with your kids. If it's an all day affair definitely get wrist bands.. I'm not sure we'd want to go hang out there that long. We always just get individual ride tix. And the water temp depends.. sometimes it's warm still October.. but sometimes not. I'd say you've got a 50 50 shot
Hey chris not sure if you can but can you do some walking tours of popular hotels in San Diego that you would give a thumbs up and recommend. I know it would require jumping in your car but I think it would be of great interest for us outsiders and Canadians. As I mentioned in a comment I stayed at Paradise Point and to see it again would bring back some great memories. Thanks Andrew
At both Venice and Mission Beach there are places that you can rent chairs and umbrellas from.. but they won't set them up on the beach for you. You've got to lug them from the rental place to your spot on the sand
LIved in PB and OB and loved going to MB for fun. I have been many a times. When my Sons came down from Oregon back in the earlly 2000's for the summer I would drop them off with enough$$$ to spend and if they wanted to walk home they could or stay until I picked them up. The oldest was 14 and youngest was 8 both responsible and I had close friends that lived a few blocks away if they needed anything
@@YellowProductions I heard there were some at the Belmont Park by the restrooms, so I just wanted to confirm before I go. I will be coming from really far
Heyyyy I just rode the rollercoaster in Belmont 3 weeks ago for the first time. Some punks threw food at us and let me say food coming at you really hurts. Never going there again the crowds and parking lot is pretty bad.
@@YellowProductions It was some teenagers that weren't riding the coaster. But you do bring a good point Mission Beach is much nicer then Venice Beach. I wouldn't discourage anyone from visiting just because of my own bad experience.
I really don’t like your voice. Did you just call gelato ice cream? And why did you pronounce it gulato as though you didn’t see the spelling of the word that you were trying to read? Cool headset

I realize it is quite off topic but does anyone know a good site to stream new tv shows online?
I’ve lived in San Diego my whole life. I’ve not been down to Belmont Park in about 7 years and I’m amazed how much it’s changed since then.
Time for a revisit.. it has changed a ton!

Very cool! You've gotta check out the roller coaster next time! :)
@@YellowProductions We did check out the roller coaster back in 2013, but decided not to do it this time around, because of the long 1 hour wait. 🥲
@@candye777 Ouch! That's a long wait!
@@YellowProductions You’re right, it is, so we will have to check it out again soon. 😎
You are slowly giving me hope again by seeing how awesome California always is. I have been here before and this brings back some awesome memories. The sunset close is also awesome.
Awesome! California is pretty good :)
OMG I just saw you on a Dead Meat video!
I also saw you on the Dark Knight interrogation scene clip! (Why are you everywhere!)

I'm a former resident of San Diego and this was my favorite beach. Watching this video brings back nostalgia.

Yes! MTV did Spring Break in Mission Beach one year.
@@YellowProductions Oh yes, Spring Break! They chose the perfect location.
Love this! I miss San Diego.
We mostly went to silver strand when I was a kid growing up in San Diego, but loved going to Belmont Park. Thanks for jogging my memory Chris

Is there enough parking?
Where is a good place to rent a bike around Mission Beach? I would love to ride that 13 mile trail you were talking about!
I would go with Ray's Rentals on Mission Blvd
Do you know if you can rent umbrella and chairs on the bus beach? How about Venice beach?
At both Venice and Mission Beach there are places that you can rent chairs and umbrellas from.. but they won't set them up on the beach for you. You've got to lug them from the rental place to your spot on the sand

If I'm booking a hotel in the inner city , do you advise I uber to the beach or drive?
Depends when you're coming to the beach. Summer weekend at 2pm. Then uber. Winter Tueaday at 10am. Then drive :)
Is mission beach too cold to swim in July? I'm planning on vacation there but I'm afraid it might be a bit cold to swim
Depends what too cold is for you. Water is usually about 68F in July
@@YellowProductions will it make shiver? I'm from Utah btw and you know how cold those waters are in the summer

Hi.I want to ask and ask. There's a 1994 movie Angels with Black Belts, have you seen it?Look at the beginning of this beach?and this place.
Yup!

I'm not aware of any lockers for rent in Mission Beach

It's sad what's become of Venice Beach boardwalk. I remember it being so cool as a kid and now it's just scary and smells like weed everywhere
