    I think everyone has high hopes for the introduction of Pyro and the associated gameplay.
    We all want the system to be an engaging area to be in, not just another Staton with cool locations to take screenshots at.
    With the letter from the chairman and the progress shown so far on all the official sources I´ve been very optimistic.
    I know it´ll most likely not be ready at the end of 2022 but it´s on the horizon for 2023.
    I am hyped for SC and that hasn´t happened in the last few years.
    With servermeshing done the last major tech hurdle will be out of the way and the most exciting phase of development for Star Citizen is about to kick off.
    It is here where we´ll see how CIG actually plans to expand the universe they created.

      CIG can take as long as they like, i have so many new games to get through, and with the mighty ''Starfield''/ 'S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chernobyl/Warhammer 40,000: Darktide/Dead Space remake'', to name a few. Haven't played since dec/21 so i'll wait till 3.18 drops in dec.

      PS: Pyro isn't a 'size' anomaly... next-up system NYX is f***ing huger, I think it's 7 times the size of Pyro.

      I hope each system will have its own "justice" system.
      Stanton has the prison planet, Klescher if you get a crime stat.
      Pyro, on the other hand, will see justice handed out by the various gangs, no such thing as prison.
      Other systems will also have their own systems of justice, whether some sort of system prison or street justice.
      At least that's how I hope it will be.

    The monthly report makes me think they've finished the lightning VFX tech, since they stopped mentioning it. It's one thing to disappear from the roadmap, but they quietly complete features all the time, while the louder ones make their way in game.

    I'm actually really curious how much infrastructure for things like insurance claim and medical respawn will be available in Pyro. I've heard hints of anything from several options in the system (much like Stanton) to virtually none you don't bring with you. It will make a huge difference to how play evolves in the system if, for example, you can't make a ship insurance claim without going back to Stanton, and if you die, your only option to respawn is a Stanton hospital or a top tier medical facility you or a friend brought with you.

    Just want to say that it's not that the project is only now coming together, but that they always knew what they were doing; that we only got here because they knew what they were doing. Every boring patch, every trivial feature and mechanic led to this.
    But when you, Execute, and Paul talked about 100 vehicles, plus what will have to be at least 200 ships, my mind was blown all over again by what the goal is. To have a legitimate living, breathing universe, with so many different vehicles and ships that you hardly see the same one twice, with logistical vehicles and haulers being the exception.
    It really is amazing. Thanks CIG, and thanks Tom for bringing us the process in high quality installments like this 🍅

      Whenever somebody ever says Star Citizen has too many ships, I ask them, "How many different types of vehicles do we have for the same function IRL?" The number of vehicles, when NPCs can do the same things as players next few patches, it's going to be a transformative experience. I seriously don't believe there *HAS* been a truly living breathing world, just yet, in any video game. But, there is another thing that casually cropped up that CR was mentioiong back in the 2013 days. With the new event, graffiti is a thing. Part of the dynamic sim was also more trash piling up, gangs possibly moving in... that's starting to be realised right now.

      Yea i think we will need 100+ ships for sure and i am not even sure that is enough once we have close to 50 star systems in game. thatys just two ships u have per star system lol

    Space Tomato, your videos are by far the best star citizen videos out there I love the channel and i love the editing and the voice not to mention the amount of detailed content you put into it, I watch a lot of other channels like salty mike and board games, morphologist and more but yours are the ones I look forwards to the most, you deserve more subs and I love how enthusiastic you are for star citizen, just keep doing what your doing man!

    Freelancer is a really underrated game. I sunk so many hours into that in the 00’s. Both that & its precursor, Starlancer hold up pretty well & the lore is fun.

      Ah yes, good old freelancer. I played this game and 3 friends of mine said, what you play such a boring game? So I gave them a try and they instantly fell in love. Such a great game.

    Canyons are going to be sweet. If they do the same thing they did with the caves with city meshes, I won't be surprised if the canyons of arc corp are actually flyable. Still not landable, for the most part, but flyable. Building outerirs coming in means building interiors where there weren't before, (Also, Arc Corp still needs is actual hanging slums near the starport so there's not as much of a walk).
    Guess Pyro's features get to be rolled into Stantons, so whatever we see in Pyro is going to make me ecxcited for Stanton's future. I'm fairly certain I'm going to be a Terra and a Pyro man though. Coupled Mode and Cruise Control and you're Trekking through the system. Better pack food for at least a week, it's going to be that long of a trip. Just to get to th enearest planet. Oh, the whole system? Probably going to need a month's worth of food to cross the entirety of Pyro, and that's if you don't meet up at the Truck Stops.
    ....I hope CIG doesn't think they can sweep the larger rest stops to Truck Stop upgrade under the rug, with those giant abandoned stations in Pyro.
    If those abandoned ones are that big, the repaired ones from other places must be big enough to house Bengals to dock. Woot.

      they will not convert all features from pyro to Stanton. Each system should look different and has its own style. That’s what they said in the planet content team Q&A too.

      @@asta3457 Liquid physics still require a baseline. Stanton is that baseline for....things. Magma is still a shader over a liquid just like water is a shader over a mesh.

      @@asta3457 Testing, integrating, and implementing new tech so they can iterate and propagate the rest of the star systems with it. As xtremetuberVII mentioned, the river tech is the baseline for magma (i.e., volcanic eruptions, and flowing lava), acid pools, acid rivers, and other similar such planetary liquids. That's just one example.

    In my opinion ,
    this long development is actually a very good think ,game simply will grow up and gets old with you (literally 😅), any other games are as fast as possible being developed (in compereson with SC) and than simply gets abonded or devs simply will start working on another project to get more profit.
    This game simply doesnt have limit ,meaning that there will be always something to create ,improve ec ec

      It is urgent to have real persistance, no more wipe at some point, and complete career mechanics that are fleshed out. Then it can introduce new things down the line. But until that point, there is no game to speak of, but a technical alpha. When things will get much much more complete and polished than they are now, only then we will speak of a game that will grow with us.

      This fastpaced game development we've seen the last 15 years from all the big studios has not been very innovative, it's like these big companies lean back and take the money and stop developing new technologies to make games greater. That's real complaceny, but out comes these smaller game developers who outshine the bigger ones, like CIG is doing right now, and you have other studios like Embark that really innovates to break new grounds.
      To all the whiners and haters of Starcitizen, why aren't they whining more about the bigger ones underdelivering almost EVERYTIME!?

      @@TruthIsKey369 Instead of whining about the smaller one that overhype and underdeliver every single time? It's a mistake to reinvent the wheel at every turn. There were PLENTY of tech they could have taken ready made. Inventory. Took them 8 years to implement a simple and botched inventory system. Salvage? We get a beam. Of course. After it's supposed to be in game since fucking 2016. CIG foes push the barriers and do good things. But they also take plenty of bad decisions and shouldn't be sheltered of criticism just because they try something new. For example, their constant lies and overhype for thechs that THEY KNOW won't be in game when they say ot will just to generate hype, thus sales, is innexcudable.

    Before going too far into this (0:55), my first thought is, on day one Orgs should have a mass PVE and take out every criminal ship through out Pyro.
    I don't know how that would be accomplished and they'll respawn, but it could be entertaining watching waves of ships from different Orgs kick butt (hopefully)? ;-)

    I wonder if the world of Star Citizen will progress as the game progresses were maybe as time goes Pyro might have outposts which can build up to small cities after maybe the UEE sends player groups as missions to set up actual physical camps over maybe the course of a year and the thriving ones will build up to become a city like New Babbage or Orison.

    I'm most interested in how you get there. Currently, SC ships use FTL travel to get around Stanton and it's pretty slow. Traveling the vast distances between systems will take forever without using huge wormholes / Star-Gates / Jump-Gates. A considerable fee would need to be paid since the construction and maintenance of these jump gates and the energy supply to power them would be very costly, but you would arrive to your destination quickly.

      We don't have FTL at the moment. The fastest Quantum drives go at just below 70% of the speed of light. Travel between planets will be a significant time sink in the future as bigger star systems come in. Pyro may be bit of a problem for smaller ships in terms of fuel as well.
      And I see these as a good thing. Longer travel times makes trade more meaningful and many other things require forward planning as well.
      And Wormholes are obviously the way to go between systems. I think there has been talk that some wormholes may not be quite as stable as the main ones and there will be wormholes popping in and out between systems. So when a new wormhole comes in that may create a shortcut on some profitable trade route for example.

      @@Qwarzz being a big system might mean that solo fighters aren’t harrying players everywhere and require a support network … or a refuelling ship at the very least, to pirate traders and miners (and salvage too, I expect).
      Being a larger star system will change the dynamics to large ships interacting and mostly on shipping routes.
      Pyro will be a dangerous place, but with a LOT of empty space to avoid the PvP and pirate players, it should be viable for most people.

      @@7MPhonemicEnglish There are quite a few places that show the max speed of quantum drives. And now that I check it Seems VK-00 for example is actually 283046km/s which is 94% of the speed of light. That's pretty fast.
      Those numbers are pulled from game files.

    I think they make a mistake with wormholes. Larger ships should have a warp drive, that can get you to the nearest system in 15-30minutes. This would give ships crew interiors a purpose. Otherwise pool tables, crew quarters with kitchens and tables are just decorative, pointless rooms.

    They have had ample lots of time on pyro and the more time they work on it, the more i am expecting from it IMO.
    Basically, my expectations over a year ago for pyro was that they would release all the planets and moons done with the same kind of bounty/searches/mercenary copy and paste missions as in stanton for now,.
    But now, i am expecting more. I am expecting pyro specific missions, the main space station landing zone, and dozens of outposts and derelicts!!
    I am practically expecting pyro to be gold standard in other words as they have been working on pyro for at least 3 years now. The planets and moons themselves do not take long to make anymore thanks to the planet tech tools they have which keeps getting better and better every time and there is not many if any "cities" landing zones to handcraft and design. I suspect that the ruin station and some of the solar flares effects is where a lot of effort has been put onto stanton?

    Pyro 2026 first quarter. PES will be released in 3.18 which means they're probably going to need a lot of time to peek & tune. In addition to fixing a lot of bugs that are unknown right now. Which I predict will take about 3 years then server meshing in 2025 one year later Pyro 2026

      I think Pyro 4.0 may come IAE 2023 . That would be the perfect time to release it and not beyond impossible really if PES is a success.
      If PES proved to be a success, then literally all they need to do is split the servers up. the hard part was actually PES and the shard/replication layer part.. The meshed splitting of servers is kind of like the last 30% of the whole static server meshing

      @@jonneymendoza As a long time backer from 2013 and $7,580.78 USD later I hope your right. Problem is I been a backer from 2013 and I seen how CIG works. If PES is a huge success! I still believe it will take years. For server meshing and Pyro. They will use PES being a success as an accomplishment to constantly remind everybody they did. They will bank on that meanwhile delay everything else for much much longer. If it's not a success you won't hear a peep.

    I know what I'm going to do when Starcitizen gets fleshed out enough to make PvP much more fun, you call it Bounty Hunting, BUT here's the difference I will create a Criminal Extermination Squad that ONLY goes out to hunt down criminals and kill them. Screw the bounties, I want to be feared by all the criminals across the verse ;) that includes corrupt finacial people too, just to mix it up a bit and that will get the cops on my ass for sure, but playing a little Robin Hood once in a while will keep these people on their toes aswell in the protected UEE space.

    Great really well done content! I'm strictly a E:D player, but follow SC in wonder.. Like wonder if it will ever be actually playable this decade. SC's certainly beautiful but a long way from prime time...

      We are close to 2023. Star Citizen will certainely get polished and as playable as any AAA mmo, and after than continually add to it, becoming basically a virtual second life in space. But no, not this decade. Not a fat chance. People can absolutely be hyped of what it may and probably will become, but have to be aware that every mechanics are waited in magnitude of years, not quarterly patches.

      They'd need to fire all of the planet tech and content teams until the rest of the features are finished, and then go and try to hire those people back from whatever jobs they went and got in that time. Or the people making these planets and systems can work in parallel with those building features.

    I'm not really sure how star citizen's monetization is going to work, as it is definitely a game with a weird funding history, but do you think star citizen will adopt the f2p model in the future when it launches? I realize this is not feasible due to the funding needed right now, however If the game is this popular to me it would make maybe make sense, however if it is the best game in the entire history of gaming I doubt people will moan too much about the overhead cost.

      Would be nice to have the player base of f2p, but without the horrible gameplay loops/designs that come with it. In my eyes, this means f2p w/ a membership for unlocking all content. Kinda like the runescape model. Either lock out some systems/ships/gameplay behind a membership, or have some sort of "level cap" (I know, this game isn't supposed to be level focused). This lets "starting" areas feel alive and populated, while the outer reaches ("membership" areas), dangerous and uncharted. Only other option in my mind is a mandatory monthly membership model, but even some of those games have started adopting in-game shops.
      The realist in me knows, though, that CIG has been INCREDIBLY successful with having players pay separately for in-game cosmetics and content, so that system will not leave the game for a long, long time (most likely after "release", which will only be prompted by the player base/investors dwindling in numbers).

    I do think they can churn out systems faster then 1 a year. Remember all the talk of the planet tech? Creating systems quickly is what that's for. And its been done for a while, or at least well polished and effective in its current iteration. Some systems are being worked on for SQ42 as well, once that is out then those systems should be in the PU also. I mean maybe im being too lofty in my hopes but I am thinking we will have a handful of systems by 2025. Since the bottleneck for more systems has always been server meshing, and thing is it doesn't even need to be dynamic server meshing. And these things accelerate usually because then once you have made a large selection of assets. You start kit bashing them together. A lot of making environments for games works like this, it takes a while to make the first versions of the assets but once you have them you just copy paste them essentially.

      I agree. Right now they’re laying the foundation for the future of their Universe. Bashing out the kinks, refining the gameplay and improving the QOL for all players of all types.

    Q1 of 2024. Since 3.18 has been delayed for 2 quarters now. I would push Pyro to 2024. With the work on SQ42 and with PES, Messing and other tech comming online it will take a bit to get back to Pyro.

    In the Grand Scheme of Things, "Every SC feature should be treated as a classic corporate five-year plan," as that's how long you're generally going to be waiting while funding arbitrary sandbox-features that are stubbornly resistant to 'valid and overdue completion'.
    100 systems -- 4 systems per year -- 25 years, minimum.

      They also have at least 6 to 8 systems all in the same state of completion, at least 3 in 42 Odin, Vega, Castra, plus Stanton, Pyro and Nyx.

    Did they move it back again? Who was filling my head with these lies. This is getting old.
    Also if it takes them two years to complete Nyx....That is not a good look. Keep in mind these systems don't have huge cities like Stanton. There is no excuse for slow turn around because they rely heavily on the planet tech.

    the moon 🌙--> 🌍 distance to earth its about 385.000km! but sometimes it seems to be VERY big in the sky though the great distance. IN STAR CITZEN, from ArcCorp to Walla moon, roughly less then 150.000km it appear TOO WAY SMALL then a marble ball! So 🫵🏼 you need to be very close to Walla to have a real impression of the size. ITS TOTALLY WRONG! even Walla diameter much smaller then our Moon, when your are traveling to there from ArcCorp, walla DOESNT EVEN appear Visible until you are very close! i think the Proportion vs Distance it’s underestimated. Looking like a MARBLE BALL 😅

    We seriously need CIG to go open with their devkit and allow (a seperate server) their fans to start helping the production process, via modding.
    If the massive world of the Elder Scrolls series is all getting remade purely off the back of dedicated fans, why does Star Citizen not see the potential in this assistance?

    Here's what we really know.
    The Pyro system will never be in game...like the Perseus, Idris, Javelin, Pioneer, Banu Merchantman ships, land claims, data running, etc.
    The backlog of promised ships already paid for that don't exist aren't even a focus because CIG is too busy coming up with other ground vehicles or ships with no game play loops to sell on their Invictus money grab events.
    By the time they actually get around to making Pyro, it will be 2265, and you'll either be dead, or able to buy your own real life space ship to explore the universe yourself, in person, and won't need a video game that profiteered off an alpha that never got to beta, but only got rich on unfulfilled promises.
    That's what we REALLY know about Pyro.
    Chris Roberts laughs at you as he spends your money.
    Scam Citizens should be the title of this "game", because that's exactly what CIG is doing.
    If a "game" is still in alpha after 15 years, and at least a billion dollars in revenue from crowd funding from ships sold , some exceeding $3k in real world cash that still aren't available to the people who paid for them years ago, you should probably assume you've been scammed.
    Glad i never spent money on this fraud, and only waited to see if it actually launched as a game before parting with my cash.
    Hilarious, i spent $80 on Elden Ring, and got a complete and playable game. Yall spent hundreds or thousands on ships for a game that isn't playable, and the ships don't even exist.

      No thanks. I'd rather spend money on a completed, playable game that will be fun, not just one frustrating penalty after another. Why would I want to spend an hour doing missions to fill a cargo hold, only to have a server crash erase all my effort, my ship, my cargo, and then have me wait an hour to reclaim a ship that shouldn't have needed reclaimed to begin with...oh....and lose the in-game money spent to acquire the cargo that is lost in the "twisting nether" ( Warcraft reference)?
      I'm good. I'm not paying 45 cents for a sub par product.
      Keep hoping Fraud Citizen will deliver. They're counting on the hopes of fools that hand them money but don't hold their feet to the fire to produce what people paid for. That's how they're raking in millions.....by manipulating your hopes.
      In my state, what CIG is doing is a felony, specially, theft by deception...punishable with up to 15 years in prison.

    If they're already showing that type of game play in all these demo's, why would they not put it in the game? That's a false representation, and saying it's an alpha and things change is bs, they've been showing that same looped game play segment for over a year now, no excuse for that.

    I’m edging closer and closer to uninstalling this game. Time and time again they promise big things and then they are delayed endlessly. If Pyro isn’t out by March next year I’ll be uninstalling the game.

      It's very possible to play the game without giving them money. Just cause somebody is playing a game that is taking forever to reach feature complete doesn't mean you're getting scammed, it just means you're playing an unfinished game.
