- Some KOMATSU PC1250SP-11 and PC1250LC-8 Excavators loading CATERPILLAR 777F Haul Trucks on a nasty rock job for what will eventually be the site of a large new residential community.

The new one has a tough fight with that hard ground! Nice video!
A little blasting would loosen things up a bit. I wonder if they are permitted to use blasting? I worked at a landfill back in the early 90s where we blasted until the neighbors started having foundation cracks. That put an end to that right now. After that it was ripping, and ripping, and more ripping. When you were done ripping, you’d go rip some more. Very tedious work.
We have our 1250 and 775’s coming in next week. Can’t wait to see them work!

Yes, Nasty is the right word for that job, Absoluely Love the 1250s! Now if they swapped out those F trucks for some HD785s they would have a fleet. Fantastic video footage socal. Great work and thanks for posting!

Only in SoCal they have nothing better to do with their money than throw it at diesel and machines to split rocks. Everywhere else cuts in a road, makes a retainer wall, and just puts the houses on top of the dirt... Good for the economy, I guess. Keynes would be proud of them digging holes to fill them in again.

Nice job operator. Just curious why you aren't loading the trucks you're missing half the load? Are they going over something wieght restricted?
I was waiting for the ripper. Using an excavator to rip rock beats the hell out of the machine and is nor productive. If you have a boulder to load a bucket or two of smaller stuff will cushion the blow and prevent damage to the dump body.
Not sure how the D11 would fare in such large boulders considering the cost of almost daily shank replacement
That last shot is a little bit disorienting because there's nothing for scale, but it's impressive just the same.

Unfortunately it just looks like they are making a giant stock pile. Pity really as that floating rock looked pretty sound for crushing down as
quality road base material.

That looks brutal, honestly. I'm curious; would a wheel loader like the 992 have an easier time with hard bank digging like this?
A 992 loader would be too underpowered to push into a bank and dig like that

Yes. It went pc1000, then pc1100 and now the 1250s.
