    Which Minelab Coil do you prefer and what do you think about the new Coiltek coils? Any of them look good to you? I'm looking forward to the 5x10.

    I really wish they would beef up the attachment point. These companies don't seem to get that not everybody is hunting nice manicured lawns, beaches, or bare fields where you don't bang into things. Nel and Cors are the only ones that seem to understand this, and have nice strong attachment ears.

    • @MentalMetal
      @MentalMetal  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would have to agree w/you on that. They really do need to stop cutting corners.

      I have seen the Minelab 15" tabs on the coil snap off, just to weak, turning the coil into a $300 plus (Canadian) piece of junk.

      Great detector, poor build quality 👎

    • @clemarr
      @clemarr 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Agree 100%. I have worked in the plastic industry for 40 plus years and have had a lot of Injection molds made and modified. It would be a simple modification of the Injection mold to increase the thickness of the attachment ears and the cost of the extra plastic is very men-able. I am always afraid mine in going to break even with me being very carefully with it. With my Simplex that detector is built like a tank and its 1/4 the cost but I prefer my Nox 800 well at least right now. Just my 2 cents.

    The 11 inch coil more stable in saltwater can run it at around 19-21 sensitivity same conditions for 15 inch coil 14 -17 sensitivity lets hope that the new 15 inch coiltek will work better in saltwater looking forward to seeing it tested.

    hey MM, couldn't agree more, 11" smokes the other Minelab coils. The 6" really a waste of money if you ask me for the few things you might find, at best you carry it in your pocket and use it if you come across a spot with good finds and you need to check a tight spot , use it for 5 minutes and switch back to the 11". The 15" is good for wide open , virgin ground, and you want to cover more ground quicker picking off the easy targets, which is becoming a rarity (the virgin ground that is) and that extra inch of depth almost always is just deep rust, another waste of cash. Now the Coiltek 10x5 has me interested for the same reason, I really liked the 8x5 on the Garrett. Can't wait to get my hands on one. ATB & HH 👍👍

    The 15 is an exact copy of the one for the x-terra 705. It's a little heavy for me not to pleasant on a long hunt and I don't want to see how much it flexes my equinox shaft.

    • @MentalMetal
      @MentalMetal  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I have it for the Equinox and it seems to be fine as far as flexing goes, then again I do have the carbon fiber shaft though. It is a bit heavy after a couple hours of using it. Thats just my honest thoughts on it.

    Do you have plans to review that carbon shaft? Or have you already and I missed it? I’d love to hear your thoughts. I’m trying to make my nox a little more backpack friendly.

    • @MentalMetal
      @MentalMetal  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey thanks for the idea I can probably put one together. I really like it to be honest. its lighter and collapses but I'm not so sure you would be able to put it in a back pack but maybe.

    • @donusmc1
      @donusmc1 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Awesome. I appreciate the reply. There’s a hinge sold on Etsy that allows the screen and handle to fold over but it’s difficult to judge durability from the pictures. The appear to be 3D printed. The concept is pretty sweet. I’m just kicking around ideas to make it easier to lug into some of the hike in places I detect. I hope all is well and I look forward to more videos in the future.

      @@MentalMetal I bit the bullet and bought one. It should be here today and I will test it out over the weekend. I hear see posts where the 15 inch is not as good on smaller targets so hoping this will be deeper than the 11 but more sensitive than the 15"
