@jp2062 the defense is actually still pretty talented (they are very injured this year tho)... but the offense isn't playing complementary football. Even good defenses look bad if they're on the field all game and put in bad field position. Brady ensured the defense was almost never put in bad positions.

It was never the Patriots way. The Patriots were horrible organization even when Bill took over in 2000. He had one of the best quarterbacks in the league who is Drew Bledsoe and ended up with I think it was a 5 and 10 record. Then Tom Brady came along and everything changed it should be known as the Brady way. The problem is New England never had a system until Tom Brady came along. Tom was the one taking team-mate and coaching them. Tom Brady was the system. Tommy's going now and Bill Belichick is back to his losing ways.

For me TODAY is the start of Bill's last chance to show us, the media and the league that he is still a "great" coach... Rhamondre Stephenson is the same player he was last year, the reason why hes not producing is because the Patriots have one of the worst if not the worst offensive line in pro football....Mac has zero time to throw to his mediocre Wide Receivers and Rhamondre has nowhere to run since the opposing defenders front 7 is already in the backfield disrupting plays within 1 second of the snap - When you have as poor of a offensive line as New England does it does not matter the talent level of the backs,QB or receivers since there is nowhere to run and no time to throw. - ANY NFL offense starts and ends with the protection and open lanes made by the big guys on the offensive line and New England is clearly void of that talent there.

Holley is being disingenuous here. Ty Law, Willie McGinest, Teddy Bruschi, Ted Johnson and Lawyer Milloy were all Parcells guys. The Dynasty defense was built upon the foundation these guys set. Every common roster link connects back to them. Milloy to Harrison to Merriweather to Chung to Dugger.
The aforementioned guys were the 'buy in' guys that set the cultural tone in the locker room that the later Patriots teams picked up on and continued. Put a Brady in there on offense and stability at the coaching position, then it all lines up for 20 years of winning football.

Here is my theory... BB and RK went cheap on the talents, so they can pocket more to themselves. That's why RK won't fire BB, because BB followed RK's order. You see, every business has an ROI target and it's up to the owner what the target is and the GM to execute.

No Drafted Talent worth more than a 2nd round pick. With Gonzolez injury they have not studs and the starters they drafted are average at best. We are also forgetting the division is not only better then them but they are top AFC Teams. For Most of BB and Brady's Tenure together they were not the most talented in the NFL but they were always the best of the East. Won 5 Games at minimum. They were able to get wins and figure it out come playoff time. When you have the best QB and Coach in a division you have time to make it all work before it really matters. They went 12-4 with a bad roster cause the East was so Bad in 2019. Now they have no one left that they drafted. Its an Embarrassment. BB knew he had the Best QB in the division for the last 20 years. Now he has the worst in the AFC! They need a 5 year Pete Carol in Seatle overhaul... Get a College COach to come in and draft this team to greatness. Let Most of the players walk or trade them. Sign young guys in FA next year to longer term deals and go hard in the draft. They need so much to compete with MIami and Buffalo.

Titans defense contained opponents to 16 or less for 3 consecutive playoff games, allowed the greatest show on turf scoring 23 points.
Titans spent much less on defense than Belichick did, and gave his QB much better talents on offense.
Brady could have won the SB with Titans, and everyone would have remember the great game by Titans's defense. and Jeff Fisher would look like a genius.
