    Thank you so much! This really helped me because I was so scared when I heard my DIL had this early in pregnancy. I am sharing this with her and with a midwife in my church who takes care of women in poverty in the Appalachians.

    Thk you for your detailed explanation. I have itches once in 3 days on my feets and hands mostly . I’m 35 weeks 3 days pregnant and my issue now is I’m in Africa. Went to my doctor for test but they do it just in France 🇫🇷 and I will be expecting results in a week. While waiting I wish to know how fatal is cholestasis to the baby .

    • @TheMaternityMentor
      @TheMaternityMentor  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for asking! Cholestasis has some risks for baby including stillbirth. In the meantime, while waiting for the results, monitor your baby's movements. If you notice them decrease, you need to contact your healthcare provider right away or go to the hospital. I am sending you love and light and healing thoughts.

    In my first pregnancy in the third trimester I had severe itching but it was not treated properly and my baby who was born had lung and heart problems and died on the third day. I developed gallstones after c section .Dr advised me to remove gallbladder. and during the operation the doctor cut my common bile duct.In second operation a team of doctors treated me with a hepatojejunostomy. I was two weeks pregnant before the operation and did not know . After the operation I took a lot of medication. Now I'm At fourteen weeks my Alt test is 55 and now I have itching little bit what should I do?
    Now I don't even have a gallbladder and I'm pregnant and at risk of intrahepatic cholostesis...😭😭

    Hello, Thank you for this useful video. I am 39+5 days now and I started itching few days ago mainly on hands (not palms) arms legs and back. I have no itching on palms or soles. Do you think this might be cholestasis? Thanks

    I’m 4 months pregnant, I did have itching towards the end of my first trimester in my hands, breast and chest, but that has now stopped, I do not experience any itching but my ALT results has come back high.
    Can you still get it even thought you do not experience any or excessive itching ?

      Thanks for asking! This sounds horrible. I would be asking your doctor to run weekly liver tests. It's possible it hasn't shown up in your blood yet. I would also ask to visit an allergist to determine if you have a new allergy. Feel better!

    Did my chances of getting this go up because of my missing gallbladder? I had to get it removed because of gallstones. Have been itching all over for 6 days now.

    • @TheMaternityMentor
      @TheMaternityMentor  ปีที่แล้ว

      I have never heard about any correlation between gallbladder removal and an increased risk of cholestasis. If anything, the removal would prevent blockages. It's more likely that your body produces a higher level of bile acids than your gallbladder could handle and now it's causing your ICP.
