hi cozy friends, thank you for being here! I hope you enjoy my yarn stash tour, let me know if we have any knitting project plans in common & if you’d be interested in participating in a Salty Days KAL! 🤍
I would love to join in a KAL and I've got a couple of different yarns I could use 🩷. Love watching the projects you're wanting to make and I'm getting so much inspiration, I might have to look at the Sabai tank top definitely ☺️
I’m totally in, I just received my yarn for that sweater today and I’m so excited to start knitting it, please make the group, it’d be so fun and no one around me knits so I’d love meeting knitters and sharing ❤❤❤
@@morganunraveledI definitely will keep an eye out. I’ll have to make a bendigo woollen mills order! Have you ordered from them yet? They’re in Victoria, Australia and are very good value. Huge meterage per ball!
I just did a color theory test with chat GPT a few weeks ago! I found some videos online on how tot do it, and it says I'm a light spring, which matches with the colors that suit me best. It definitly helps with picking yarn for projects now and just gave more clarity overall. Maybe a Ferns & Feathers sweater would fit with your Sewrella yarn, but I have no idea how much you need for that. Loved this video!
that’s so interesting! love a spring vibe 🪻🧚🏻✨ I definitely don’t have enough for anything like a sweater! I don’t even have enough for a scarf 😭 would have to be a little one skein project!
I am just finishing my ranunculus. I made it out of KFO merino navy and drops brushed alpaca silk cobalt and it is amazing! It was my first sweater to ever make and I probably got spoiled because it's so much fun and easy to make. I just started knitting this year but made this to wear over a dress to go to a wedding this fall... Now to sew the rest of the outfit. Much easier, I've been sewing many many years.
there is something unmatched about knitting with a luxurious yarn. you get to enjoy the process of knitting so much more. it feels like a treat to work on it just as much as the reward of the finished object!🥰
i’m a soft autumn! i got a color analysis a couple years ago and they said i could borrow some colors from soft summer. i was so happy because i already gravitated towards soft autumn colors. it definitely helps narrow down my yarn color choices (and clothing choices generally)!
that is so neat! I’d love to get one too, I bet it helps instill a bit of confidence in your style & identity! I definitely gravitate towards autumnal colors as well 🍂
The Lumme is so beautiful! And I could totally see you as a soft autumn. I don’t knot where in Australia you’re located, but if you have the opportunity you should book an appointment with Colour analysis studio in Melbourne. I got mine done by them (virtually, since I’m located in Norway), and I just looove their aproach. It completely changed how I plan my knitting projects, and I’m so much more happy with the results from my knitting now.
I'm currently working on the porcelain sweater. It is the 3rd sweater ever I've made and first colorwork. The flat colorwork just took some practice but it wasnt bad at all to learn. Looking forward to seeing yours!
I love your esthetic the colors that you choose for your projects are up my alley. I am a slow knitter myself and consider myself a beginner even though i knit a couple of years i even made my own desings but in peaces front back arms and then combine but now i want to become more advanced and learn new techniques. I am trying to finish the the darjeeling blouse now and my next project is the moby sweater in moss color but I am not sure if I can make it because it will be the first time knitting top down and using German short rows. I am considering buying the cloud sweater I equally like to get accustomed with those technics and then try the moby sweater.
thank you!! it’s so fun to be adventurous and try new designs, techniques & constructions!! your moss moby sounds lovely, but I can’t imagine doing short rows for the first time whilst also doing a cable pattern! you definitely can figure it out but it may be less stressful to learn short rows on a swatch or a stockinette project! definitely watch Kika’s Cinema Sweater tutorial with german short rows!!
You should knit the Ingrid sweater!! I just ordered yarn for that sweater actually! I’m so in love with the design! It would be cool to knit them kinda at the same time !!🫶
so exciting!! I will probably do the Salty Days KAL before knitting the Ingrid, since I need to do my husbands cardigan first then make sure I’ll have enough of the rest of the yarn! but that would be so fun, I reallly love the Ingrid design too, so classic!🤍
You have some beautiful yarns and projects planned Morgan, so inspiring! Love the idea of a salty days kal and love the yarn you have for it. I am really feeling the sweater mojo at the moment!
thank you for watching & unraveling with me again Ally! I would love if you choose to participate in the Salty Days KAL if it’s in your knitting plans, announcement of dates coming soon!! ahh me too, I want to knit allll the sweaters!! 🥰🧺
We have the same tastes haha love it! Going to knit a Porcelain Sweater too in the coming months (so excited about it, although a bit scared too) and I got the Lumme pattern not too long ago! I feel like that Cashmere DK in green would look gorgeous in the mittens you showed!
Working on my Silverlining sweater by Jenn Steingass while watching this (I have so many of her patterns that I want to knit)! I definitely consider what colours I would want to wear while planning my knits - I haven't looked into colour analysis because autumn colours are what make me happy and I would just be annoyed and stubborn if I was told anything else lol. That being said I likely would be an autumn and may just be drawn to those colours intuitively!
You could use special skeins as the CC in colorwork if the amount works that way you get to enjoy it but can pair it with something a little less expensive. Great ideas and plans! Looking forward to seeing them!
Currently knitting Tiberius by Isabell Kraemer so happy to hear about your colourwork. Hoping blocking does the trick for my colourwork. I have knitted Salty days sweater and would have to say it is my favourite knit. Thanks for a lovely video today.
omg YAY! such a beautiful design, I am so eager to knit it - do you think I can do it as a first colorwork sweater?? some of my friends have so I’m feeling hopeful 🥰
@@morganunraveled definitely! it's only my second ever time doing colourwork (i made the nordic mix sweater as my first one) and purling scared me but it went really well actually 😊 i'm almost done with the body and it feels like it just flew by🥰
For the “Ivy” yarn look for the Saroyan scarf pattern (it’s free). You can use the leaf motif from that pattern and make your own head scarf or hair wrap. There is a video on TH-cam where the woman used paint chip samples from Home Depot to do her own color analysis. I think I’m going to try that…I love fall colors, but I think I look better in deep jewel tones, blue especially. But in all honesty, I say wear the colors that make you happy because when you’re happy you can make any color look amazing!
The porcelain was my first colourwork and it came out perfect, I think it may be easier for me as I knit in English style 🥰 I also always consider colours when I knit myself something. I’m a light spring and try to buy yarn intentionally with what would suit me best ☺️
Hi Morgan! I don't know how proficient your friends are with colorwork but in my opinion I would NOT recommend the Porcelain sweater as your first colorwork sweater. It honestly was more difficult than necessary, mostly due to the designer's style of writing and lack of clear instructions for important steps. If this is your first colourwok sweater, I would recommend something more beginner friendly like a round yoke. I'm not a beginner in colorwork but this pattern had me very frustated at times. i completely advice you to read the projects in the Porcelain sweater Ravelry page because other knitters have included a lot of very helpful tips!!
Thanks for this new video, I had a really nice moment 😊 If you keep the idea of a kal... I'll be on it 🥳🥳 Good night from here but have a nice day where you are (I guess 😅)
I am very much planning the KAL! I kinda came up with the idea when filming my but throughout editing I’ve been planning more and very keen to find out if others are interested, so happy to hear you are! thank you for watching!! 💛
Hey I think sari nordlans book softly. It has all her Greek mythology titled patterns including the achelios and Irwin’s cardigan I think you mentioned wanting to knit. It’s also just a beautiful book the photography is gorgeous and cable charts galore
I definitely consider colours when I make things. I am a winter and love reds, navy, jewel green, as well as blacks and whites. As much as I love how neutrals look, they don't look great on me.😢
that’s so interesting! I admire that you know what colors you look best in, when you go yarn shopping are your eyes drawn to jewel tones much or do you have to remind/guide yourself that direction? 🌿
@morganunraveled bit of column A, bit of column B. There was this BEAUTIFUL almond colour yarn that I almost purchased but I just knew the FO would not look good on me. It was a bit devastating
I think the porcelain sweater exists in a yoke version that doesn’t require to do colorwork on the wrong side ! You loose the drop shoulder look though
Please be aware that there is a rumor (I didn’t check for myself wether this is true) but the pictures of the moby sweater do not show the actual sweater made by the charts provided. At least one cable is turning in the wrong direction or something like that.
oh I see what you mean! you’d have to invert the cables on one side for it to look the way it’s meant to. that’s frustrating that it isn’t written that way!!
blocking isn't magic for me :( ive recently started really knitting and the both times I've wet blocked my knits don't change at all and they get kinda fuzzy idk what I'm doing wrong I'm using coldish water eucalan ugh
oh I’m so sorry to hear that! are you knitting with natural fibers?? blocking usually doesn’t alter the fabric of synthetic fibers much (like acrylic etc)
@@poppyblair aw that sucks!! I follow Kika’s tutorial on blocking my knits and it always works for me but some yarns bloom more than others. I hope you’re still happy with your projects nonetheless x
