I’ve been publishing a series about Nariño (en.wikipedia.o...) and its main tourist destinations. I want to show you this department in which international tourism is minimal today, but which is beautiful and has many things to do.
Nariño is one of the 32 departments of Colombia and is located in the southwest of the country. Nariño is the only department that shares the Pacific Ocean (en.wikipedia.o..., the Amazon jungle (en.wikipedia.o...) and part of the Andes Mountains (en.wikipedia.o...) in its territory. In Nariño you find beach, mountains, canyons, volcanoes, lagoons and more.
Tumaco (siturnarino.co...) is a municipality located on the Pacific coast of the department of Nariño. It is located 300 kilometers from Pasto (en.wikipedia.o..., the capital of the department. Tumaco is known as the Pearl of the Pacific of Colombia due to the natural beauty of this island.
The culture of Tumaco is influenced by the African slaves who arrived in Colombia in the seventeenth century, from there comes the music so characteristic of the region and its religious beliefs.
You can also do bird watching in Tumaco, since there is a great variety of bird species.
Nariño is a beautiful department that you have to know the next time you come to Colombia!
