The new Fuji F1.4 lenses are great...clinically sharp for sure, but at a price both in dollars and weight. I loved the new 18mm, but it was just too big. For those of us who travel and want a light kit, the older lenses (such as this 16mm F2.8) are perfect. I agree with other comments, Fuji needs to get back to making smaller and lighter prime lenses...which fit much better with their smaller bodies. That's why most/many of us switched to Fuji in the first place. BTW...they also make amazing, small and tack sharp large format lenses....which are increasingly hard to find and increase in price every year. Nice job on the channel!

Thank you for watching and sharing your insights. I too tried the 18 mm and returned it because it was just too heavy. I ended up just keeping the 23 mm as I really like that focal length. I still love the 35 mm.

I agree with you. I rarely use the heavy lenses now, but go for the small, lightweight primes. My favourite is thet Zeiss Touit on the X-T5. I recently got the 18mm f2 and I have found so far that it is not as bad as some people say, even on the X-T5.

It's a good lens, I had a copy since ‘18’. Sold it a few weeks back, I suppose I outgrew it, so I picked up the 18 1.4 (from MBP) as I shooting a number of events and assignments with low and poor lighting, that f1.4 is a Godsend.
BTW, while KEH is great, however, MPB often has the original packaging.

Yes, that 1.4 comes in handy and that is why I bought the 23mm 1.4. I’ve heard good things about the 18mm 1.4 as well.

@@JackieDEliaYep, a great hunk of glass, indeed a tad heavy but worth it.

    Hi Jackie.
    I'm enjoying watching your videos!
Recently, I purchased a X-T5 and 35 f/1.4, and I just purchased a 8 f/3.5 today. Got them all for great prices used.
I love these small primes from Fuji. I'm coming from a a7R V, with both manual and GM primes, but I find Fuji more fun to use. APS-C is adequate for me. It's smaller, lighter, and I save some money for other aspects.
As for my next lenses, I want to add another ultra-wide, a telephoto zoom, and perhaps another standard. I consider either the 14 f/2.8 or 16 f/2.8.
Most seem to say that the 14 is noticeably sharper, but If the 16 is close at f/5.6, I would prefer that due to size and weight. The gap between the 8 and 16 might be a little big, though. The last two lenses I consider are the 23 f/2 and 70-300.
Will you make a review about the 16 f/2.8 at some point? I would appreciate it a lot, if you perhaps could share some Raw test images as well in the description.
Thanks, and have a great time! :)
    Regards, Frederik.

Thanks so much for watching. Absolutely will be making a review of the 16mm f/2.8. And from my experience this past week using it for recording videos I was very impressed. I didn’t think I would be. I’m recording using an external mic so I don’t have to worry about any motor noise since it’s not an LM lens but the auto focusing has been spot on and very little focus breathing. I’ll be taking it out for review on the photography side, as soon as I can and put together a review.
I might have considered the 14, but I already have the VILTROX 13 mm and I really like that lens - just not for carrying around as it’s a bit heavy

Great lens! My 16mm f/2.8 is a permanent fixture on my Infra Red converted XE-1.

Enjoy your new lens! I agree, lighter is better. Just getting too old to schlep the big heavy stuff. Jackie, you have a very good presentation style.

      @JackieDElia  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

Yes. Love how lightweight it is and the photos look great. It just doesn’t have a linear motor like my 23 mm 1.4 WR has but it focuses pretty fast. Much quicker than the 56 mm 1.2 original.
