    I have three of those stubby tid aerials they work very well to say the size of them. I've just ordered 5 TidRadio AM aerials to test and 5 of their Tactical Ham radio aerials to test. Keep up the great work. Your channel is my goto channel for these radios etc.

    Great video Fred, you're a real help to me when I have radio queries I'm too embarrassed to ask more seasoned radio users for help with. Great stuff! 👍🏻

    Nice test. I wonder how well it would perform if it was the receiving antenna. 👍

    I'm now using the nicFW_H3_V1.30 firmware. It comes with software to control the radio remotely when it's connected to the computer using a usbc cable, and the software has more features. I do not like how the screen looks with this firmware, I like the original layout more. Great video. I have two of these small antennas and they work just fine.

    That surprising that stubby antenna got that far . I got ones like that but is comet brand. We have GMRS/FRS in UHF for the USA . I did not get that much range . But I was using 2 of them short antennas person to person in a park. I can say the NoGoya 771G antenna at 5 watts easy talks 3 and 4 miles when clear and about 2 miles in wooded area . We use camping all the time. The 42in Abbree antenna gave like 10 mile range on GMRS 5W on a HT . Cheers from NY USA ! stay warm and safe !

    have no need for shorter range, but for parking lots, sporting events and the like, I think it would be very handy. I was surprised at the range.

    Hi Fred, have you tried the Baofeng mic speaker. I like it, it's good good weight to it and has a red light when you are transmitting. If you have tried the Baofeng mic speaker, is the Tid Radio one better, please ? Great video, like always. Steve

      To me the TID mic felt more like a CB mic. My own Baofeng mic felt more like a childs toy.

    Good result from such a small antenna, you will struggle to get a perfect result with your meters due to the loss in the adapter trees it will always be a compromise , but keep up the good work .

    Why are they not uk approved anymore, becourse of your modifications or out of the box, I thought thay have been fine for long time and suddenly not anymore? 🤔

    • @CB-RADIO-UK
      @CB-RADIO-UK  หลายเดือนก่อน

      To be type approved a UK PMR radio can only have 0.5 watts transmit power and a fixed antenna.

    • @WaschyNumber1
      @WaschyNumber1 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @CB-RADIO-UK I know, so it's only that this ham radio is used with more than 0.5watts and uses the pmr frequencys and not be used with a license makes it not FCC approved? 🤔
      But if someone have a license would make it again approved or is it also the pmr frequencys?
      It's really confusing and I thing to much regulated, I think if someone don't disturb others and play by the frequencys rules should be allowed with or without license to use it, somtimes I feel like the people from the FCC and others are dictators and want only power over all other people, I will never understand how other people can sell other people licenses for a right that all people from birth have, are the same with the same rights born but somehow magically other are like overlords over others. This will never compute in my brain. 🤔 This Dosen't make sense at all.
      Its like masters and all others are the slaves and have to buy or do this and that for rights that the others never could give others in the first plays becourse they don't own rights of other people life's and so on. 🤔

    Is there a frequency range that those work best in? I am in the US and usually use my TD-H3s in GMRS (which is a US only kind of PMR service like you have but it uses 462 MHz and 467 MHz frequency ranges. Do you know if these stubbies work for that or is this more for HAM and other uses?

    • @joshuahale8621
      @joshuahale8621 หลายเดือนก่อน

      its not the best.

    • @CB-RADIO-UK
      @CB-RADIO-UK  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Once you go above 440 MHz the performance drops as the SWR climbs. High 460's may work but I am not sure on the reflected power will do the radio much good.

    • @Cheusow
      @Cheusow 13 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      DO NOT use stubby antennas on GMRS fr. SWR on these fr. is enough to burn out your TD-H3. I know what I'm talking about. WSGI571 :)

      Takes to long working solo. It should be around the same distance as the receive.

  • @Cheusow
    @Cheusow 13 วันที่ผ่านมา

    Be careful. This stubby antenna can burn out your radios due to extremely high SWR.

    • @CB-RADIO-UK
      @CB-RADIO-UK  13 วันที่ผ่านมา

      As its a genuine TID antenna it will be ok.

    • @Cheusow
      @Cheusow 13 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @ did you know what SWR is? Of course you know. At 5W and SWR 3 your TD-H3 could burn out due to high power returning back to the radio.

    • @CB-RADIO-UK
      @CB-RADIO-UK  13 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Yes it would do damage at 3.0. However the performance would be much reduced at that level and this little antenna did pretty well. I think if your worried its best to stick with the standard issue antenna.

  • @eugeneaustin
    @eugeneaustin หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Nice review Fred, but I will stick to the original Antenna.
