Finally this kit came out, it's my all time fav MS :D
Ez8 is one of the coolest looking gundams out there.
Leone Kaiser I would replace coolest with realistic its definitely unique but not entirely that great

I also liked how in 08th MS Team the mobile suits where treated like tanks/artillery like the way they would be used in a more realistic setting. (Realistic like in the way that giant robots are realistic.;D )
Can the arm be used as a meele weapon?
It’s a combined shield and weapon. You can choose to leave that off. Here’s how I finished my battle scarred gundam. Complete with missile holes 👍🏻

lol sorry to freak out, but that guy was my first ever HGUC, and he's been sitting broken and glued together on a stand on my shelf for years, seeing him in one piece brings a tear to my eye :')
The old HG Ez8 I should mention was not a bad kit for its time. It even had features like an opening cockpit and a Shiro Amada figure. This was years before Real Grades.
I like how they added the parachute as a throwback to the original hg 08 ms team Ez8. What is disappointing is that the old high grade did have the chest actually slide out and fold down which this one does not, oh well.
One important thing about HGUC Ez8 isn't a repackage of old ground gundam, it uses all new molds and probably better than MG one. It is pretty much Ground Gundam v1.5, better knee/shoulder joints.
Just looking at the plates, I'm already sold on upgrading from the old HG to this one.
I was taken aback that they also took away instead of just adding to the kit the shoulder buckles were a separate moveable piece the chest had an opening cockpit hatch revealing the driver seat,love the improvements though I think I'll kit bash the old and new kits for the perfect hguc
After Wing, the next Gundam series I was introduced to was 08th MS Team. I liked it. I am probably going to pick this guy up, definitely adding it to the list. I am kind of interested in getting an all white plastic bag and making a parachute :p
I've built the HGUC Ground Gundam recently, and it looks like very little is carried over to the Ez8.
For one thing, the Ground Gundam didn't have the slot and peg system for the hands and weapons- and you had to buy a Blue Destiny 02 or 03 for a Beam Rifle.
It looks like the construction of the arms is different as well- which I find baffling, as the original arms were awesome. It looks like the hole for the shield mount is filled in... why would they do that?
Ah, the Ez8. It's one of my favorites.

So since your doing a review of the HGUC Ez8, what about doing a review of the HGUC Ground Gundam?
I doubt it. If it wasn't for the Blu-ray release of 08th MS Team I don't think we would've gotten this until later. Although when Bandai was teasing new RG releases the RX-79[G] Ez8 was definitely high up my list

Personally my favorite MS in the 8th MS Team OVA was the GOUF-B Custom.
Forget the newer leads like OO and AGE 1-3, and FX. Ez8 takes the cake for being realistic.

cuz i bought a HG Perfect Strike and the plates for the unit was actually from the 2003 version of Aile Strike.

As much as it pains me to say it, I agree as well. OVA's should always be like 08MST though, because ova's are allowed that flexibility. OVA's are where we can make Tomino proud.
it is not completely new... some parts are still remold from HG Ground Type like the shield,beam saber and machine gun
How does this compare to the old one from the early 2000s? I'm guessing this is way better?
the old 90's HG EZ-8 had the same parachute belts
Is this the only Gundam without a V fin? I can't remember any others that don't have a V fin

Realistic isn't flashy enough for kids. The Gundam franchise features a great and deep story, and flashy action things so it can be watched by kids, teens and adults.
If it was always too serious like 08th MS Team (which I love) maybe the rating would be poorer for kids/teens since they tend to prefer raw flashy action more than a deep complicated story. Hence the beam spamming, the "superpowers".

I'm aware of that; I prefer to pronounce it "jim," as in the japanese dubs, and I even pluralize them as "jimmies" from time to time, so you'll forgive me if I don't spell it GM
If u ever read the story for Gundam Blue Destiny...all of the Blue Density Gundams were bested by a regular GM.
The inner chest detail shouldn't be too hard to paint up.
Ok question for everyone: all jokes aside for the one armthat Ez8 post, does anyone think it would be interesting to see some "battle damage" parts in these kits.
Quite easy to do your own. And much more fun I think. This was my first try. Did some missile holes and scratches.

I cannot agree more. I believe that the 08th MS Team should be the standard set for all Gundam series, not some pseudo-G Gundam shit.
the old HG is not bad too.... but looks a bit skinnier than the new one...
