    Good tips.
You can also check the back of the rubber intercooler hose leading into the egr valve. It can split (just below where it connects into the bottom of the egr valve) due to erosion from oil ingress, meaning you lose turbo pressure. I had this problem and fitted a new hose. But that also split after a few months. After a further failed hose I ordered a silicone hose, rather than the standard rubber hose. That works well and is still good after 2 years. Silicone doesn't deteriorate from oil contact!

No.1 tip is actually keep your injectors clean. They are the heart beat of your engine. Clogged injectors equals more soot, less power, less mpg and not a very nice driving experience. I always use Archoil fuel additive which is one of the best in the business. You can also have them cleaned professionally and flow tested. After 2009 all diesels have a dpf so a good thrash once a month's will do wonders and then there is the egr valve which should be removed and cleaned once and a while, probably best to do the manifold at the same time. It's not a hard Job but make sure to wear some disposable gloves as you will be as black as the ace of spades in no time😆
