In your trailer with the smell is because the top vent for the sewer is to close to the roof extend the pipe vent and that should help we did that on our fifth wheel really helped. Love your videos.
Possible try vacuum packing some of the items, such as seasonal cloths and extras towels that you don't use regularly. You'll be able to store several items in a much smaller space.
You are experiencing all the usual camper things my family and I lived through over the years of camping. The mattresses always need a topper or replacing, we usually bought a regular bed mattress to swap in. Storage is never enough, maybe some plastic bins that you can strap down in front of MM or a plastic shed that you could semi permanently strap down. Can't do much about the outlets but you're right if you custom order it, order more of them. The black water tank, if you haven't figured that out by now, being this video is almost 2yrs old, they make deodorizers you can drop or pour in the toilet to help. Keep doing what you do, enjoy watching even your hauler eval.
Good Morning Folks, I own a camper for work when I am out away from the farm. I survive using totes and limiting what I bring along. Campers of any kind were not intended for permanent residence! Now that I have a Lady in my life even my motorcycle trips have changed. As I modify and remodel the camper to be a hauler for our motorcycle, I am changing power points and the layout. As a carpenter and "jack of all trades" I can do all of this work myself but I am constantly calculating weights. Balance of the trailer is crucial for the suspension and towing. At least for your future purchase of a new toy hauler you have a list of what would work for you. Solo trips on my bikes were easy with a single backpack and the bike's panniers. Now with my Lady and our age we bought a trailer to tow all of our creature comforts and camping needs, but even then we discuss need verses wants. I wish you all the best of luck and will include you in my prayers Hoka Hey
Holly, if you are still in the krawler, I would check the vent pipe for the black tank. If the pipe is too short it will cause the sh##y smells inside the trailer. Love your channel, you are so good at TV production!!!
Hiya Holliie. New member of your following, so this may be old news, but when we were in our travel-trailer phase, we found those clear plastic bins were a boon to helping cramped space seem more, well less-cramped. Bonus is that you can label the bins to keep things more organized. We liked the "blanket bins" that are long and thin to slide into under-space storage. Going to enjoy your site. Cheers, Richard Utah
Try vacuum bags and packing cubes in combination. Stretchy mesh pods on the walls and ceilings work well for vanlifers and it would seem they could work in your hauler. Amazon is rife with storage options. How about a large storage pod place cross chassis in front of Mischief Maker. Outlets can be added, depending on how full your panel is. I usually pack for two weeks in a carry on and they work well. I’ll soon be moving that concept into a truck camper, so I can tow my XJ.
we were going with a Sundowner Toy Hauler with the garage. Custom 44'. Cabinets along the top of the garage. 2 slides (one each side) in the living area. But with covid shortages (labor, supplies), their prices went through the roof. In fact, no custom trailers at all now. So we're looking at other options (my CJ only weighs about 2200 lbs, so possibly a 5th wheel... but they are huge!). Hate not to get the Subdowner, as we really liked the longevity of the frame. You are correct though, very limited on space.
@@MischiefMakerTV we were going custom because we wanted a larger living area (counter space!), A smaller garage (15': less is more here), and the two slides. Want to full time. The stock units just don't check enough boxes. I still admire and look though. thanks
I know I’m a little late to the party but I use Happy Camper black tank treatment and love it. Absolutely no black tank smell. It’s the best I’ve found and I’ve tried a lot of different brands.
It's nice. Sheila and I lived in a 33' RV for 10 years. Still have it and loved it. We're weird. You didn't mention storage under the bed. I'm assuming it was an oversight or better yet, you just learned of a whole new storage area. 😉😆
The storage under the bed is excellent, but somewhat inconvenient. It’s more long-term and they aren’t exactly water and dust proof, so it’s only fit for certain items 😀
I had a black Work-and-Play toy hauler for several years. The dealer had installed a bigger air conditioner to make up for it, but the down sides were that I needed a bigger generator to run it, and more gas for the generator, and sometimes I even had to run the a/c at night. The up side was that I got it cheaper because no one else wanted it. I think a light colored wrap is a great idea!
Holly, I use this stuff called "Noflex Digestor" sewage treatment in my holding tank on my boat. It breaks down the nasty stuff in the tank and pretty much turns Everything into liquid. There isn't any smell at all! I personally can't stand the smell of the usual liquid stuff that we have all used. This Noflex stuff is granular and hasn't a smell. Look it up online and order, not sold anywhere else that I know of. Safe on the environment also. You can thank me later!
Nice looking rig. I didn't hear you say about accessories outside. You may check out a rollout awning w/screen. Having a porch has lots of advantages. When traveling wardrobe is always an issue. Many opt for a uniform look for branding. The television remote problem is so annoying. Hope you let us know how you solve this one. I have the same issue and have not found a good answer. Blessings, Don
Well just after talking to you in IG about these, Came back here to watch these couple videos when you first picked it up . Made me realize a few things. Definitely gonna order what we want in every aspect. Wife and I plus two teenagers for three months in a 25 foot toy hauler, I know your pain lol....I'd move the fresh water back under rear deck as well. Thanks keep up the great work love the channel......
If you're on the road still, there are nice rigs.... New Horizons RV, Spacecraft RV, are custom RV builders. Then at your level, there are the Nascar-type rigs.
I have spent the last 30+ years living in a truck sleeper (basically a 6’ by 8’ box)… try rolling your clothes (pants, t-shirts,etc) they will take less space, also plastic stackable boxes(for canned goods, dry foods) that can be moved from place to place…
Thanks for the tips! We have some large Amazon duffel bags that we basically live out of, but as you know space is at a premium and anything that helps maximize what we have is helpful. We’ll definitely give that a try! 😊😊
I roll most of my clothes that I put in my dresser. It keeps them from getting wrinkles if you do it carefully. I learned to do this when I did a little traveling 35+ years ago.
Move the bedroom TV to the center of the trailer instead of the corner. Put cabinets along the wall from where the TV is all the way down alongside the bed.
re those LED tank gauges, the water gauges are usually fairly accurate, but the grey and black ones are notoriously inaccurate. especially the black. for the black tank smell, use Walex Porta-pack deodorizer, they are these blue capsules you drop down the toilet after you've dumped, flushed, and then added the minimum couple gallons of fresh water so the black tank has an inch of water in the bottom. for your grey tank which can also develop a nasty smell, I find Walex Elemonate tablets work pretty good, wash one down the kitchen sink (its tablet) after dumping the grey tank. AND as soon as you've parked at a new site, run a pint or so of water down the kitchen sink to refill the drain trap. re the outlets, you can't flush mount them on outside walls because the outlet box is too thick, and the walls are too thin. So they pretty much have to go on inside cablnet walls. I don't have a toy hauler, but I do have a fiberglass Escape camp trailer that has about a 17 or 18 foot long box, on a 21 foot hitch to bumper frame, its probably a fair bit smaller than the living box on your hauler.
Ya I could see going with a lighter color for the hauler even though black looks sleek and professional. Minimalist style of living gotta be rough when your used to having plenty of storage space(like a garage/shop). But your mobile so if you need to go somewhere warm during the winter or go north when it’s hot in the south. Fall off the bed, lol. Sounds like our kids(2 year old and 10 month old) if both are in the bed and couldn’t imagine having a king size bed in that setup. Ouch on outlets. Everyone survives on electrical gadgets so only having a couple would be a no-go. Awesome outlook on your day to day that is per se behind the scenes.
Thanks for watching .... yeah living a minimalist life can be rough when we came from a 4 bedroom house 😳🤣🤣 But we are surprisingly good with it.... the biggest thing IS the outlets for sure lol ..... in 2020 why don’t we have a couple more 😂🤣😅 But again it’s no biggie..... we are all spoiled these days 😂
Wrap Wrap Wrap ..... Under-bed storage if enough head height .... 2nd TV controller, OR block some of the IR on one unit. Easy to add an outlet if installing off a cabinet for routing. Sewer gas? a venting problem?
Sounds like the honey moon with the Krawler Hauler has ended!! haha, The good thing about your staying in one place for this period is it gives you the chance to identify either improvements or what you would need in your next trailer. I know that Krawler Hauler has a model with a slide out giving a lot more living space. I look forward to seeing the solution you come up with.
...... Hahahaha honeymoon 😀 It’s actually a good thing (as you said) that we have been in one place. We now know what we need to do to make it perfect for us. I don’t think getting a new trailer would do anything for us right now but I’m looking forward to making a few little tweaks 😁
So we actually picked ours up from Leonard Truck and Trailer in Ohio. Their production is so far behind and the prices are so inflated right now, but the Krawler Model is such a great option for a hauler IMO! (Especially for dirty/muddy Jeeps and buggies)
You need to get some IR receiver extenders, to move the one near the bed off to the inside corner so that both TV IR receivers don’t get hit at the same time by the remote. Common issue in large commercial AV installs, some video walls, etc.
In Texas most guys have bought 5th wheel trailers and added an rv on top usually with many slideouts etc. They typically have a ton more space than that.
Adding outlets should be fairly easy depending on where you want to put them and access - you have to take into account that not all walls have space behind them to pull wire or set a box so you may have to surface mount. As for the water tanks, even in the marine world the only tank monitor I truly trust is a sight gauge. All the electronic ones I've dealt with have proven problematic at some point. On the mattress you can simply add a foam topper or you can have a custom innerspring made by somebody like HandCraft Mattress - again, from the marine world so not cheap. There may be some RV stuff that's cheaper that I'm not aware of. For the TVs they've gotten so cheap now it's probably easiest to just change one to a different brand. Usually the included stuff in this sort of application isn't exactly top-shelf anyway so you could upgrade while you're at it.
Thank you so much for taking the time to write to us. I’m happy to hear I’m not the only one who doesn’t like the gauge for the water 🤣 I wasn’t going to put that in there BUT it really is something I would change ( as silly as it sounds)
Regarding black tank odor. Try the bio geo treatment on TR Tomblin’s channel. I use it. it’s basically borax soap and occasionally adding concentrated orange solvent. Checkout his video he does a great job explaining how to and scientifically how it works. Good luck to you and Walter.
To help stop the sewage smell put a plug in the shower drain and the bathroom sink and kitchen sink while you traveling from place to place Because if you notice the smell will go away while you are stop it's because the P traps have water in them that stops the smell hope that helps you get rid of the smell
Thank you for making this video! It was helpful to hear about some of the cons and that customization is a possibility for this style toy hauler. With the lack of space, have you considered welding some kind of metal cabinets to the truck bed for extra storage? You mentioned you had extra space back there... Also, I wonder if you could raise the mattress up and put a wooden frame underneath with drawers or cubbies for extra storage? On top of that, depending how much you use the tv by the door, you could just take it out and turn that space into more cabinets. Looking forward to future videos you post. 😎👍
You’ve come up with some great ideas and food for thought! The cabinets on the back is a great idea! The bed might be a little tight just because we don’t have a lot of headspace up there already..... but taking the tv out and putting storage there could work!! Thank you so much ... I appreciate it 😀
I appreciate a few years have passed since you posted this, though I am wanting to share our experience re custom build. After looking at what was on the market new & second hand, we opted for new; custom built. We had a camper custom built, even then needs change over time and what you start off with isn't necessarily what you require later. Would I custom build again, most likely, would I go to the extent we did with our camper, no. There were expensive items that were good at the time, that came redundant later. It is a case of compromise. Stuff you need ie more power points, definitely, an extra sunroof; over perhaps two that come standard, probably not. Just food for thought if you go the custom build route. As far as buying second hand, that is even a bigger compromise, though if what you spent on this is less than you had budgeted, then there is opportunity for alterations and still come under your total budget.
I know this is an old video and I think you have sold the KH now. I think you would have been much better served with a enclosed TH like my Sundowner. Mine has a 24' garage that easily fits my Jeep on 40s and room to spare. I also carpeted the garage, added AC to it and a residential size fridge. This allows a MASSIVE increase of storage and huge living space on the Jeep is unloaded.
We still have the Krawler Hauler. Enclosed trailers are great for security and storage, but the Jeep is around 95” wide and 7,000lbs. It would require a completely custom trailer and I believe most toy hauler doors are only 92” wide. I hope that helps explain why we went with what we have 😀🤙🏻
WOW! Walter start adding some storage outside. Dosen't your bed have storage under the mattress? Make sure you put your chemicals into your toilet so it don't smell. Or cut down on the chil. Lol!🤣
There is no storage underneath the bed and there is no where to add storage 😀🤣 We are pretty good but there is stuff everywhere Hahahahahaga and I my my pods.... don’t you worry 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Sorry, do you guys have a washer and dry onboard. I’ve been looking at campers and haulers and was curious about laundry. I seen haulers and some with wash and dryer but room and movement is already so tight. Great videos and keep it up.
Ozium is a great odor eliminator though some scent options can be overpowering. It only takes a one second spray - no more than 1 second - to eliminate odors. What do you do about washing clothing? We would have to have a washer and dryer for any extended or longer-term trips.
I actually love it for being a home ..... if we were traveling. I think we just have the one place itch 🤣🤣🤣 ( although multiple rooms and our couch would be delightful 😬)
MischiefMakerTV it’s definitely an awesome rig!! You guys are truly blessed to live the lifestyle that wish to live. We all are blessed to have the pleasure of watching you guys enjoy life!!❤️
With the right tow rig, it would be sweet to lower the floor of the bedroom area without adding to the overall height of the LQ. We considered that, but having a traditional box on the F-350 is way too valuable for when the truck isn’t towing.
@@MischiefMakerTV yes twice helps also if your black tank has turbo flush ours has a sprinkler system that pressure washes the inside of tank.might be a great upgrade
Not sure what you mean, but we were just talking about the 2021 schedule we just posted and the Krawler Hauler will be essential when we hit the road this coming year. 😀👍🏻
One question how does one afford this life style? I,don't believe that you have enough followers to pay the way. And look into using a black tank treatment that has probiotics that will help consume and also help break up the crud that can solidify into a hard to clean out nightmare in your tank and there is a company that can power wash the gunk out also just don't happen to have the name handy. Hope that things get better, the life on the road can be most difficult at times.
You might consider one of these adapters to help with the clean out process of your tanks: www.campingworld.com/rv-hydro-flush-45-degree-14496.html?cgid=sewer-drain-flush#start=5&cgid=maintain-your-rv%2Fsewer%2Fsewer-connection%2Fsewer-drain-flush
Companies never insulate trailers correctly. Every builder uses cheap and charge 5,000% more for crap, same goes with the rest of the trailer components.
Wow. I'll try to make this short. My little woman and I have a 30' toyhauler that we've camped in for as long as 2 weeks. The Rzr fits in it, and the wife follows in the Jeep. Thots... > 2 weeks is about the maximum time we choose to live in our toyhauler. How you guys do it longer in a smaller space has got to be tough. >RV space or storage room, there is never enuf. Never. I'd say have Walter built a box / cabinet in front of Mis Mkr. >Tank smell.. we use Valterra Pure Power Blue tank additive. In over 10 years with our trailer we've never had fumes problems from blk or gry tanks. You may have a venting issue. Remember to flush the tanks 2x when dumping. >Power outlets... I've added many in more logical locations in our trailer as well as 12V USB plugs for phones and laptops. >Television issues can be resolved with TV and or remote control changes. I'd say yank out one TV and go to a mobile projector style TV outside. If money isn't a huge problem. Go for a bus size diesel RV and pull MM on a flatbed behind it. That large - extra square feet living space is almost a necessity if your doing it fulltume, with no end in sight. Wheel on. You guys are living the life. Never forget that. Much kudos to you guys. Enjoy it. You're truly blessed.
Hey Eric, Thank you for writing to us! We actually love it but would seem “easier” if we were traveling around 😀 I’m definitely going to check our whole black tank system and flush the whole thing out twice now !!! (Only did the once before) Hahahaha I’ll have someone add some outlets (I don’t trust myself with wiring) We actually considered going for a diesel RV with the flatbed BUT we wouldn’t have a vehicle to drive around in... the Jeep IS street legal but the tires really limit us from really riding on road for a long period of time. The set up we have right now is perfect for what we need it for ......... thank you so much for your advice, we really appreciate it. 🤘🏻
Agreed. You guys have an awesome trailer. A Crawler Hauler. I'm truly envious. I was simply addressing your video in long winded form. And the brute reality is that because of limited living space, couples can find themselves in ridiculous arguments over stupid sh%+. Which are really just a limited space issue. And.. Forgive me, but I'm old. I'll throw stuff out there in ''matter of fact' statements that may or may not fit into your situation. Thank you for your TH-cam channel.
In your trailer with the smell is because the top vent for the sewer is to close to the roof extend the pipe vent and that should help we did that on our fifth wheel really helped. Love your videos.

To help stop the sewage smell put a plug in the shower drain and the bathroom sink and kitchen sink while you traveling from place to place Because if you notice the smell will go away while you are stop it's because the P traps have water in them that stops the smell hope that helps you get rid of the smell
This would probably help immensely
🤯 wow....... why didn’t I think of that 😂
Thank you so much 👌🏻
Get some gray water treatment to help control your odors and of course be mindfull of what you are putting or rinsing into your tanks.
I appreciate it 😀
MischiefMakerTV Of course! And thanks for responding! My boyfriend and I love watching your videos. 🥰
Hey Hollie have you thought about a wrap to lighten up the color like mischief maker blue just saying
Definitely a wrap: Chief blue (of course) with MM logos....cool!
Hahahahaha might be a little OTT?🤷🏻♀️🤣 but never say never
do you wish you got a slide? look see if you can get floor storage in the kitchen floor .
Kind of BUT honestly our set up is perfect for what we have it for. We will be on the move soon 🤣
@@MischiefMakerTV mine is basically don't taking forever to upload on day 3 lmao but there's a preview of it on our channel
I hope that helps explain why we went with what we have 😀🤙🏻
@@MischiefMakerTV Yea mine fits with about 1/2" to spare on each side with full width axles.
If y’all planed on living in your crawler hauler why did y’all buy such a small trailer? The one y’all got is a weekender.
Do yall have any shots of the trailer hooked up with the running lights on. Im curious about the rear lighting setup.
Why do your glasses look so foggy? Is it a coating on the lenses? Just wondering.
🤣🤣🤣 hope they are just scratched Hahahaha
Did you get that trailer at leonards truck and trailer in ohio? You beat me to it, dang it
Where do you guys wash your clothes? The village laundry, or do you all
Sorry, do you guys have a washer and dry onboard. I’ve been looking at campers and haulers and was curious about laundry. I seen haulers and some with wash and dryer but room and movement is already so tight. Great videos and keep it up.
Thank you..... no we don’t have on on board so we normally do laundry at the local laundromat or at a friends house if we have someone near by 😀
But a separate controller for one tv
Ozium is a great odor eliminator though some scent options can be overpowering. It only takes a one second spray - no more than 1 second - to eliminate odors.
What do you do about washing clothing? We would have to have a washer and dryer for any extended or longer-term trips.
It would be awesome for occasional traveling, but not the best as a home. I’m i right?
I actually love it for being a home ..... if we were traveling. I think we just have the one place itch 🤣🤣🤣 ( although multiple rooms and our couch would be delightful 😬)
MischiefMakerTV it’s definitely an awesome rig!! You guys are truly blessed to live the lifestyle that wish to live. We all are blessed to have the pleasure of watching you guys enjoy life!!❤️
Sundowners arent cheap. For that price, might as well make the bedroom tall enough to stand in!!
With the right tow rig, it would be sweet to lower the floor of the bedroom area without adding to the overall height of the LQ. We considered that, but having a traditional box on the F-350 is way too valuable for when the truck isn’t towing.
Where are you from??
Canada??
🏴🤟🏻
I was looking at that one you got.if you bought it in Ohio at learords trailer
That was the one 🤣 wow! Small world 🤘🏻
Yes it is.keep up the good work. Hope to see you on the trail one day.my jeep is getting built this year.will be youtubing the progress and start.
Well I can’t wait to watch the progress then of course hit some trails with ya🤘🏻
do you run black tank treatment it helps with smell
We will be yes. And someone told us to flush the system out twice when we do so 😁
@@MischiefMakerTV yes twice helps also if your black tank has turbo flush ours has a sprinkler system that pressure washes the inside of tank.might be a great upgrade
Right camper, wrong time??
Not sure what you mean, but we were just talking about the 2021 schedule we just posted and the Krawler Hauler will be essential when we hit the road this coming year. 😀👍🏻
One question how does one afford this life style? I,don't believe that you have enough followers to pay the way. And look into using a black tank treatment that has probiotics that will help consume and also help break up the crud that can solidify into a hard to clean out nightmare in your tank and there is a company that can power wash the gunk out also just don't happen to have the name handy. Hope that things get better, the life on the road can be most difficult at times.
liked but wish they would have answered
They both have other jobs. Thanks to Covid they have found that they can work from home
Thank you so much 😀
Nice😍L&R🇳🇴
An easy fix is to organize
Add on to the length.
Slide outs
Companies never insulate trailers correctly. Every builder uses cheap and charge 5,000% more for crap, same goes with the rest of the trailer components.
try putting TANG in your black tank
Thank you 😃

Leave water in he toilet after your business.
Hey Eric,
Thank you for writing to us! We actually love it but would seem “easier” if we were traveling around 😀
I’m definitely going to check our whole black tank system and flush the whole thing out twice now !!! (Only did the once before)
Hahahaha I’ll have someone add some outlets (I don’t trust myself with wiring)
We actually considered going for a diesel RV with the flatbed BUT we wouldn’t have a vehicle to drive around in... the Jeep IS street legal but the tires really limit us from really riding on road for a long period of time.
Adapt a real Home toilet
I detect a Candian accent.

Anywho...lol...you mean anyhow...
