I swear Funcom studios is extremely small, like under 20 people, which may explain why they are not able to play test and verify their new patches. Also may explain why their community interactions are tardy to nonexistent. Most gaming studios will have at least 500 staff during development and then retain about 150 to 200 for extended after release post development work. They sounds like a penny wise and pound foolish operation but their still buggy game is very compelling and has one of the better construction systems out there. They clearly need more people, so I don't mind paying for their Bazar Items but only if they hire more to get them properly turned around
Truth be told I'm not too sure how big the dev team is, but it's definitely not massive, or probably even considered "large". Agreed completely about Conan being compelling, there's something intangible and incredibly attractive about it, even despite the bugs

@@Eradicati0nn I still dont like that there wont be a battlepass due to just having not much end game content. But hoping the events and whtever the future holds is enough.
I always wondered why, despite having a game with the best construction system in survival and having acquired the rights to the conan license, Funcom is incapable of quickly fixing the errors that alienate its current players. As a game, its proposal is attractive. and I have been here for more than 5 years, but I have seen many leave it by the wayside, their response is always the same, Bugs and more bugs, I hope they learn from all their mistakes and Dune is a pleasant experience like the lands of the Exile.
Great video as always! Question about that build. Why did you put down foundations initially, then put fence foundation all the way around it, and then finally put ramps/roofs over that, covering up the fence foundations? Except for the part behind the base level stairs.
For sure, though I'm not sure if we'd see the "full" effect, so to speak, until Age 3 Chapter 2 just to get a good measure of how the time has played out with the updates. Fair to say, I'll be ecstatic if they actually pull it off and significantly reduce the bugs
Everything you said I completely agree with. It’s good to be optimistic but a realist all the same as there’s no denying the undercurrent of mistrust and open frustration with Funcom. I’m looking forward to slower releases so long as their first priority is fixing bugs (especially sinking thru floors … it’s hugely negative to the game experience still). Second I hope the time gap will help ensure a vastly improved quality assurance on their testing because as much as I’m sure they try hard many of us gave up playing the game on patch days waiting for the fixes to roll in a week or two later. That’s a really poor business practice and does not encourage people to recommend the game. Ark for all its bugs his still more enjoyable than Conan sad to say cause Conan has an awesome build mechanic. I hope this next year is a 180 for Funcom and their improvement. It’s a game I’m passionate about but it’s turned into a frustrating experience
Great insight Eradication! Thanks for another video.. was watching you build that tower as I listened. Quality over quantity is usually best way to go. Mistakes were made .. we are all human and it happens .. I still play the game and probably continue to do so cause I like the game .. I get a stress relief being creative in my head as I play .. clock us ticking and alot of us are watching wondering if they can fix the bugs and bring back the can't wait to play versus see what they've broke now
Your insight is appreciated. This one would agree that a slower manageable pace would be good. But as you also mentioned, faith is shaken. Such that rather than a slower, higher quality product, this one expects slower pace but with the same poor QA we have gotten used to. Also, some of the issues aren't QA, they are just unpopular ideas, the devs deciding to make changes they know will not be received well. Alienating their player base is also an active choice. That lack of faith is why this one scoffs at whatever they now say in public. The game isn't going into Maintenance mode. Staff haven't been pulled to help with the impending Dune release. Liars lie. Once we know a source is untrustworthy, there becomes low hanging fruit for speculation. Funcom has milked this game, now they seem (since Age of War) intent on scuttling it as they move on to their next goose expected to lay golden eggs. This one would love to be proven wrong.
Slower does not always = better... sometimes... it's just slower. I hope however they use that extra time to actually produce content that actually is good for once.
Absolutely, if the quality and bugs remain as they are now then yeah, all they've done is slow down. I think we'll probably see at least some improvement in quality though, but hopefully they don't dump all the extra time into developing stuff, I'd rather have a decent sized chapter with well-tested contents than a massive one with everything broken
I wouldn't be opposed to it, I think they're probably tackling different issues though. I'm not sure adding a second Bazaar page would do anything for player retention, but developing good, well-tested permanent content would likely serve that purpose
They should make everything available in the bazaar instead of cycling it and just put different things on sale. Like full catalog and they can add to it.
i'm totaly ok with slower updates, but i hope there will be lots of bug fixes, for exemple i currently cannot click once on an item in my inventory to select it like before and it annoys me so much.
It definitely sounds like they're trying to figure out where their sweet spot is on updates and furthering the game and most of everything we're seeing is them experimenting with things. I just hope they find their stride, and it all doesn't come back to shoot them in the foot, I used to play daily but I haven't touched the game since their last update and it wasn't even really to play. Which is sad cos it was one of my go to games.
Tbh I doubt it could shoot them in the foot any more than the avalanche of bugs already has. It might take a hot minute to get there, but if they apply themselves properly, the game could end up in a much healthier spot
Thanks for the video. I wish I was as optimistic as you, my friend. Just tell me, how many people do you think will get bored with waiting half a year for something new and will put the game aside and then won't have the time/willingness to come back to it? Look at the top MMO games - if players do not receive an update with something interesting within a month, the game's popularity drops by up to several dozen percent. Some of these games, after such a breakdown, never recover. I wish the Conan Exiles game thousands of faithful and very patient, active players and fans.
Thank you Piotr 🙏 I don't really think it'll be any different now. People already do dip in and out of Conan, though I'm not certain how many, and constant bugs probably make that worse. I'm not too sure how comparable it is to MMOs, but the dropping in and out factor is definitely at play. My thinking is that players generally fall into two camps: Habitual and Recurring. Habitual play mostly Conan, people like roleplayers, server owners, builders etc, and Recurring being those that play a bit every update/every other update. If the devs use the time to ensure the product is less buggy and has more interesting features, it becomes much nicer for Habitual players, but also has a better chance of hooking the Recurring players in for longer, hopefully turning them into Habitual. That's just my layman's perspective theory though 😂
In agreement with your video's content. The game is over 7 years old so it is not surprising that there's a bit of a dialback in support and dev. No surprises there at all. Outside of the bizarre Bazaar content, and new players, there is no income supporting the game anymore - I dunno about everyone else, but - I work for money. If you want loyalty, buy a dog. I've over 10k game hours with the game. I still have my servers running and will likely continue playing - adding a mod or so to add interest where necessary.
Hopefully, I'd say NMS at launch was probably in a worse state than Conan currently though, I was a pre-order customer 😂 If Hello Games can pull NMS back though, anything is possible
That's what they needed and NEVER update at a holiday or weekend. One thing that 7 days to die does that I like is they have an experimental phase. Test before a drop.
Agreed, dropping around holiday time is a good opportunity for player retention but any issue is just so much worse when employees are on holiday. Conan does have the Public Beta Client, but I don't think it's as effective as it could be, both in finding bugs and being able to resolve them
I sure hope it does. It won't be a magic fix at all, there's doubtless still processes and stuff they'll have to improve internally, but having the time to do so is crucial
I fully understand that people are frustrated with slow bug fixes, bugs appearing after testlive, etc. But in my opinion, it’s a great and fun game, which gets so much content even after being out for 6 years. The do a good job at keeping it interesting with adding a siege, reoccurring events, etcetera. All that for being a rather small team in comparison to others, it think it’s more than alright. Battle pass to expensive? Annoying sometimes but just don’t buy it then. Some people need to realize that it’s just a game, and while being annoying, some things are not that big of an issue. I‘m more of a single player, so I can’t speak for server issues or pvp, but with single player I’m more than happy
Nothing to do with the topic, but I suck at building. Wish there were NPCs with an architect job you can get (by force or coin xd) that lays out already made bases. The tier 4 or named ones can have more complex structures available. I may be in the minority here, idk.
It would definitely be a good way around the issue of not having native blueprints. It's always good to have at least one or two designs you can easily do though, a big box with smaller boxes attached is generally my go-to when I have to build without thinking
I used to think the same way. And I still am pretty bad. But the truth is that you will get a lot better, and quickly, with practice. If you have an hour or so to burn, just enter creative and whip out a few boxes in different shapes. You will learn a lot about what pleases you and what doesn't work at all. Keep at it! And maybe you'll soon build something you're really proud of ;-)
Conan is a game that some times i get bored but always come back, like minecraft, rimworld, kenshi and others, if the way funcon choose will be better for the game, for me is ok.
I think that's coming at some point. Dennis confirmed a while ago that it's possible, and there's nowhere near as many dungeons up there as many believe. It sounds like a pretty big task though, but given they're buying more time, I'd say it's even more possible now
Floor bug, floor bug and more floor bug. That building you just made is awesome, but you can't use it. I have almost destroyed one of my better bases from falling through floors and getting stuck. Yes, you can delete the block your stuck in but in a lot of cases you can't just build it back. You have to remove blocks around it for that to happen. Then you get a domino effect. At this point the game sucks and it's hard to play. I play pve-c. So, when the bug hits during pvp hours people phase through walls and kill you in your sleep and loot you. Yes there are work arounds but its all a major pain! Any word on that fix? I can live with the other bugs. Thanks for the update! Great video!
This game is so nice in many ways. I feel like I got bored without realizing it. It was probably because of the age of war combat. I hope they fix it, rocknoses slide sideways so they can definitely keep attacking. So when I’m toodling along to get some iron, they pop out and I used to have a chance with them with a stone hammer. Now I can’t even handle one solo with iron. 😢
after they have chnage frome 3 months to 6 months it will feel empty the last 3 months if they keep putting old content in like we have now, if it was not for the yamatai set we ust got i have not played conan exiles before the next age. i really love the game but how the progress have being is really good but it took them 5 years to do this, i have played since it came out on early acces since 2017 and back then it was not as fun to play conan as it is now, im really hope they gonna do a Q and A more 1-2 time one each 3 months give us something we can talk about like what could they change like this example use make a dye system to builds so we have a more reason to use thies things. and funcom have never really being good to get out to players and talk to them and say hey what should we talk about, with out the road map the game is just back on track as the game came out that is how i feel it right now while we waiting on the new age their will come maybe in 2 months time if not they change it. to the bazaar they need to give us a catalog for very old things drome back in sorcery age.
This was already the case. The 3 month cycle was really people playing for a couple weeks to try the content and grind out the BP. Then they went timer reset mode for their bases until the next patch. The Jhebbal Sag Hunt was 'more' content because it was so grindy. So the playing of new content will be the same 4 weeks with 5 months of decay timer reset play. I am skeptical that we will see more content released each chapter with the 6 month cycle. Hopefully it will be less buggy and more engaging.
Man the problems are horrible..falling through floor...hit detection off..potions don't be working..thralls don't follow commands..and that's just to start
They have consistently proven they are fully capable of throwing away all good will they ever made. This is too little too late for me. They can add as many building pieces and armor as they like. The game is just stale af now. There are only so many times I can run the same dungeon for materials I won't need. They would need to add a lot of content for me to care. Then they would have to fix a LOT of bugs for me to think about playing again.
They already lost a huge number of players due to slow hotfixes. I feel like exiles Is dead in the water at this point. Funcom has been nothing more than a complete failure next to other game developers. I don't even wanna give them a chance to ruin Dune for me like they did Conan.the degree of disappointment I have towards Funcoms is akin to a father's upon watching his daughter drop out of college for onlyfans.😂
replace the word funcom with tencent and i think youre pretty close. but i also think its a stretch to say the games dead and over. the hardcore rust griefers are just moving away in mass numbers as the games being more marketed for pve and role players now. i also dont think theyre a failure next to other game devs. all these random survival builder games coming out, the naysayers always come out to say "yes this will be competition for funcom! it will end conan!" and then these new survival titles fall flat and you never hear about them again. i get the feeling you want the game to be dead in the water and are projecting that what you want is what it is
Development fell off after 2021. These days they're more focused on the occasional quick cashshop sale from a nonupdating premium shop on loop. They did the same thing to Exiles that they did to Conan Online. The positive? Just create a private server, play with friends or on your own and use mods. Disable Funcom's stupid anti-cheat, it freezes your client and operating system if you're running other anti-cheat software in the background, any Razer or logitech api and any antivirus software. Can't use it with mods, so pointless. It only served to allow you to play on official servers, but since updates come once in a blue moon, who would want to. On the positive, least the game hasn't decayed like Ark SE. Also, after 6 years the rainforest is finally a playable zone thanks to brute force power of modern Geforce RTX and Radeon RX cards.
I *really* don't care about how they build the game & develop assets. I pretty much groan whenever I see these kinds of blog posts. I feel they are a waste of dev time & are cynical, low effort & meaningless. The only communication I want is how & when they are fixing certain bugs, which ones they are even *attempting* to fix & them askin us what we want.
What's your take on the slower updates? The devs have a Q&A planned at some point soon, hopefully we'll also get some valuable information from that too!

No ideas = slow updates.
Keywords "I feel"
replace the word funcom with tencent and i think youre pretty close. but i also think its a stretch to say the games dead and over. the hardcore rust griefers are just moving away in mass numbers as the games being more marketed for pve and role players now.
i also dont think theyre a failure next to other game devs. all these random survival builder games coming out, the naysayers always come out to say "yes this will be competition for funcom! it will end conan!" and then these new survival titles fall flat and you never hear about them again.
i get the feeling you want the game to be dead in the water and are projecting that what you want is what it is
They need to fix their fucking game its broken again
What's the lifecycle of a regular game? Now think of updates every half a year....yeah this game is dead unfortunately
Conan is virtually in maintenance mode now with over 60% of their team off working on Dune and you can honestly feel it
A good move would be to update their anti-cheat software.
