How much neck meat would you want personally. I don’t want to waste any meat if I don’t have too. I got a very big 8 point yesterday and want it mounted as my first mature buck.

I grew up in WV where hunting and harvesting game was the norm but now I live SoCal where that isn't so easy anymore. I find myself watching your videos for the nostalgia and to keep the information fresh since I haven't been able to do it for a while. Thank you :)
Add an anchor in the floor, tie the hide off to it after you get your hind end started and just use the winch to do the rest of the skinning. Works very well
I'm not a master butcher but I've skinned plenty of deer. My dad's a taxidermist and I skin all of the deer brought to him. To make socking out the front legs easier cut the shoulder out put a meat hook in it for grip. Take your knife and just skin it out the rest of the way. The weight of the leg hanging helps make it easier so you don't have to stop and pull the hide down to get to where you need to cut. This makes it easier and quicker at least for me. I hope this helps.

That last step, when they lay out the hide and it looks like a flat deer, is just amazing. When I"m done, it always looks like a bloody mess. Maybe I'll do better this year.

This is how it’s done tube your legs you should never have to cut up the back side of the leg, you should only have to ring cut it, Taxidemist love to see exactly how they did the legs in this video, great job guys!

As a taxidermist for 40 years I seen it all. If every cape came into my shop skinned like this I'd be a very happy guy.

Don't leave any meat on it. Its not important. Any taxidermist only wants the hide/skull/antlers. Don't leave meat on it at all

Just a tip for the legs get a steal rob run it through the open of the leg hole and pull down make it a lot easier to pull the hide.
