  • We had a longer holiday for Golden Week here in Japan. We took the opportunity to do some day trips from Tokyo. Today started early morning catching the train from Tokyo Station. We went by Hitachi and Tokawa Line that took us to Katsuta Station and from there we took a shorter ride on a bus to Hitachi Seaside Park.
It is about 2 hour trip up north, towards the sea from Tokyo, to Ibaraki prefecture. Around 4000 yen something, one way.
There are other routes to get there and there are options to to on a bus tour from Tokyo with some of the travel agencies.
It was a pretty amazing sight seeing those Nemophila flower (Baby Blue Eyes flower) covered hills almost stretching up to the sky. There are other flowers planted around the area and there is an amusement park.
We took the small "train" around the park. I guess you gan get on and off the "train" throughout the park if you want to explore. You could also rent bicycles to go around.
It was pretty crowded since it was Golden Week but not too bad.
On the way back to Tokyo there was a big halo around the sun which looked quite spectacular.
I think it was well worth the visit.

Look at those beautiful fields of Nemophila. Not just a beautiful baby blue eyes flower but also the name of my favorite Japanese metal band. 🤘💙🤘

I agree to both statements. Nemophila, the band, is one of my favorite Japanese metal bands too. I hope to see them live sometimes. Lovebites and Unlucky Morpheus are other bands on heavy rotation on my playlist now...
