I want to address something. I see a lot of people bashing Jane Fonda, for not doing something. I want you to think about that. How is it that we are blaming Jane Fonda for what creeps like Harvey Weinstein have been doing for centuries? It is a very recent development that we have had the social communication tools to be able to communicate on such a large scale to realize how widespread this problem is.

Why on earth people would blame Jane: people ALWAYS thinks it's a woman's fault, especially when it comes to Jane Fonda, who it didn't even happen to. Unbelievable. People have to have a scapegoat and it's usually female. I love Jane Fonda and respect her so much. She tells the truth, no matter what. We need more women like her!

@@rajasimanta Not on the same level they don't. I'm not saying that women don't do it, it's just that it's far more widespread among men. For the most part, our society is run by men; they've got the power so that's why. It's been this way for centuries and it has slowly evolved over the last century, but it's still there.

Remember Jane Fonda's career and life suffered in the 70s for speaking out against the Vietnam war - this is a woman who has shown tremendous courage in the past at great personal expense. And while we all have an obligation to call out predators, we should avoid vilifying women who choose self-preservation.

When Jane Fonda started in the business, even though her dad was a huge and respected star, she probably faced a lot of unwanted gropes and propositions from powerful men. And women in that day and age were expected to accept it and not complain. It was completely tolerated, and in some cases, even admired. I am glad attitudes are changing!

There might be women out there who werent necessarily abused but rather used their sexuality to get fame. Not forgiving or down playing but a lot of people don't see that it has to do with alcohol levels. All men who drink continuously become fiends. Look at Affleck. From 2002 to 2015 was a blur to him. He paid his dues when he went to rehab and lost his family and marriage. Same goes for Cobain, Cosby, Lee Roth, Diddy, Shannon Sharp, Lawrence Taylor, Clooney, and Morrison.
Another issue is when the victim accepts money and doesn't press charges. Then it is indirect prostitution.

WTF are you serious? Sexual assualt, rape, sexual harassment, violence etc. is a criminal ACT. No reason should excuse this behaviour. Those perpetrators, no matter who they are need to pay the price & they deserve every bit of guilt, shame and punishment they get. Don't give us that " she asked for it because she wore a short skirt" Bullshit...That's exactly the kind of thinking that makes women feel so afraid & ashamed to speak out. This treatment happens to Men also not just women. I agree with what i heard about, Society teaches us that women are less than, have no voice and are here to act proper and decent & if we are too sexual in our own, we are sluts. Men are taught to be tough, boys don't cry and if they are abused they most often never speak up as its not spoken of as much. This is such a double standard. I'm so proud of all the victims who had the courage to come forward. Don't blame Jane F. for being a victim too in all this Hollywood Corruption & manipulation. It must of been a shock as she said and to be a celebrity with everyone watching your every move. She wasn't the only one to ignore stories. This is a problem all over the world. For the ones that hurt little kids, they will never have paid enough in this lifetime.

She said she was told about Harvey Weinstein sexual assaulting women in Hollywood for a year and didn't say anything to the media but when it came to Bill Cosby she told the press "Cosby should be behind bars". And notice she never said anything about Roman Polanski. Is that a double standard or what?

    • @chatterbox11
      @chatterbox11 6 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Your comment is idiotic.
First, what should she have done? If she had gone to the media and said she heard second-hand that Weinstein harassed/assaulted someone, any reputable media source would have asked for proof or confirming witness, and when she had none to offer other than what she heard second-hand, the story would not have been published. It is one thing to report that YOU have been sexually assaulted, but if you merely claim you heard from someone else that they were assaulted or heard from a third-party that someone claims someone assaulted someone, and there is no other corroborating evidence, no media source will run that story.
Second, and more importantly, it was NOT her story to tell. If an adult tells you something confidentially you keep that confidence. I had a friend who was raped, and she confided that to me, and I supported her and was her friend, and I would have never dreamed of sharing confidential information about her to anyone else. As an adult, it was her choice, and her choice alone if she wished to report it or share the information with anyone else.
As for Bill Cosby, the allegations about him were made by the VICTIMS. They were the ones who had the sole right whether to share what happened or not. She had a right, as anyone else, to comment on what was already out there publicly.
      There is no double-standard.

It breaks my heart when people make this a political issue!!!! 😔
I’m a victim and it doesn’t just happen in entertainment, politics, and any other “public forum” and thankfully, the person that helped Ms. Fonda with her public reply included that.
When people politicize this kind of behavior, it’s really (figuratively) kicking the victim when they’re down!!
It MINIMIZES what a victim has been through!
It makes it about things that have NOTHING to do with the assault.
You may think that you’re helping but you’re not!!!!
It’s about someone hurting you TO YOUR CORE!!!!
It’s painful and you feel that parts of your soul have been robbed from you.
You feel broken, hurt, BEYOND LESS THAN!!!
Some of us might be (barely) but non the less able.
Others of us turn to drugs, alcohol, over eating, and prostitution (I would include with that stripping)!
Things that the person would have NEVER done had they not become SO BROKEN!!!!
It hurts my heart SO DEEPLY!!!
I look at my BEAUTIFUL CHILDREN and think to myself, HOW, HOW DO I SHOW THEM A DIFFERENT WAY?!?!
This behavior has become SO PERVASIVE!!!!
It’s about POWER and their are women that play into it as well!!!!
It’s about taking advantage of someone that doesn’t have the money or resources or even if it’s just that they are lower on the totem pole in a company.
PLEASE (ALL SIDES of politics) QUIT USING THIS AS A PLATFORM!!!!!!
If you do, you’re HURTING PEOPLE!!!!!
    ENOUGH!!!!!

So much for desiring peace and love. Looking at the comments below a few positive and kind responses seem to be existent. Glad that kind words are here. So glad. It grants me hope that humans can get over their addiction to focusing on what is wrong and diverting their focus on positive and peaceful solutions. You all have a right to live peacefully. Begin from within yourselves. Peace is already in you but your minds are too busy not to feel compassion towards Jane.
Cease this addiction to reactivity if it is peaceful changes that you want. Forgive and let go. Forgiveness does not mean accepting bad behaviour. It means letting go of holding unto the hurt feelings and thoughts, in exchange for the better. Why miss out on whats better? Why?
If you want solutions, talk about solutions in a peaceful way. The past IS GONE. All we have is NOW AND THE FUTURE. The truth is surfacing...This is step one towards developing better attitudes towards women in Hollywood and the world. Step two is persistently training boys at home to treat women well. Parents need to treat themselves with persistent kindness and respect if they are to teach their sons and daughters kind treatment. It all begins at home and with the individual. Step 3 is teaching kindness at school. At least 60% of the time. Step 4 is media. People imitate what is on TV and the internet :) even if some of it. Have you noticed?
And yes we do need men to wake up and be REAL MEN AND STAND UP WITH WOMEN FOR THEIR RIGHT TO BE TREATED WELL!
Any negative behaviour is not acceptable.
As for Jane's mistake, she already apologised many times and it is now 2018. Enough latching unto staying stuck in the past. It does not sound like you want to move on when you are stuck in the past. Time waits for no one. If you keep looking at the wrongs of the past you miss out on better future developments.
We all need to focus on kind treatment now and the future, not on what went wrong in the past (as if that will help anything).
You can lecture from here to the moon and back again about the wrongs of people. Focusing on what you don't want diverts your focus from what you do want. You want peace? Be the peaceful person. You want kindness? Be the kind person. Not just for 5 minutes a day. Every breath of your lives practise practise practise. And if this comment is bothering you, EXCELLENT!!! You got something to work on! Enjoy changing from the current self to the better self! Self-develolment ROCKS!!! Why miss out on the better?
Goodbye addiction to drama and reactivity, hello addiction to sound solutions and positive progression!!!
    Peace and love everyone. 🙏🌈❤🙏
