The album didn't do well because the record co. didn't put any effort into marketing it. At least that's how I remember it. I never got a cent in royalties. I'm so happy to read these positive comments. I've got tears in my eyes. I'm remembering, we were playing the Louise M Davies Hall on Van Ness in San Francisco. There was a piano in the dressing room. I had just written the song. So I played it for Syl and he said, "Miss Tucki, I want to do that song!!" I was thrilled.
I can't believe this response. I wrote this song, words and music. I played saxophone with Syl in '80 and '81. I NEVER had any feedback for this song until this moment. thanks so very much. Tucki Bailey
Thank you for this feedback..I love syl and I m a singer and pianist , ssongwriter inspjred by many disco singers influencer. I am baritone with falsetto estended and Syl songs are perfect for me..congrats for your career and professional collaborations and work with Sylvester!!!!!
It's a pleasure to be able to say hello to the originator of such a wonderful piece of music with an incredible implication to an incredible person :) I've always thought his baritone is vastly undervalued in comparison to his distinctive falsetto. This more than verifies a great richness. Thankyou very much :) x
I'm so delighted to find this 🥰. I had this song on an old tape I was given - no idea who sung it haven't heard it in decades It turned up on TH-cam on a video analysing Sylvester's voice. My surprise to learn it was him. Just beautiful 💗💗💗💗💗
I remember hearing this track on Robbie Vincent's Saturday morning radio show when it first came out. This is such a cool track! I've got the vinyl album on a shelf behind me. Everyone into classic soul should hear this.
Thanks for your take on it. I so appreciate it. I love the story of you and your wife fighting over the album. If I had one I would send you another copy. But, it's just great to hear about the "ripples" one puts out in life. Take good care. Tucki
Tucki Bailey it's a great track that deserved lots of airplay at the time. Timeless classic as far as I'm concerned which has been played many times by me.
It's amazing to be able to communicate with the unsung craftsmen of this era of sound, and who helped this man with his music. He really did have a lovely baritone register didn't he..? :D
@tuckib I found this record a year ago and instantly gravitated to this song. I can listen to it on repeat. A real departure for Sylvester and so glad he rolled the dice to cut an album like this. Thanks for the timeless music!
One of my favorite songs from one of his best albums. Thank you so much for creating The Sylvester James Page!! Can't wait to see and hear what other goodies you post!
here in the Philippines...i was playng this track as a young DJ. Kept my vinyl copy and on occasion, would give it twirl. Congratulations on a great song !
It was made back in 81' and nowadays if the music? Don't talk about shooting and killing or dude bragging about his car and money it's not worthy of air time basically if don't help fill their prisons. Then in those times they weren't very kind to gay people! As long as he was in drag he was cool but when he dropped all that and sang his male voice they wanted no part of THAT!Record companies are cut throat assholes!😡 I just learned a company took a Patrice Rushen album and let it sit on a shelf for three years cause it was one she did and they wanted a certain style of music and she had her own ideas...so I wouldn't be surprised if they kept it off the airwaves cause people would've wanted more! But they'd rather he stayed a weather girl.....

I think Miss Bailey that this song is a piece of art! Beautiful chords and lyrics. Thank you very much for giving us this gem!

My favorite Sylvester song!
Too Smooth for words!
I love this song.

before superb vocals so good 😇😇
Smooth jazz in his lower register. Sylvester could do it all!
@tuckib This is the best track Sylvester ever laid down, in my opinion. You should be proud, man. I will be playing this over and over for eternity.

Played this tune back in '81 till the tape wore out. Great track from an underrated LP. Talk about feeling in the lyrics. And what a break. Timeless.
