I had a fordson super dexta and my mate had a massy ferguson 35x we used to race How we are still alive is a question.. Kids today will never understand the virtues of a carb needle set. Porting your own head and skimming it with glass and grinding paste. Brilliant film.
Great vid was willing you to catch that imp looked like he had a bit more power than you but you were quicker through the corners, thanks for showing .
The Imp had a bit more top end speed and could pull out of the slow corners better, but a bit more of a handful in the corners and it doesn't brake as well either. I guess the rear engine/gearbox set up helps with traction, but hinders on braking and, maybe, makes the handling trickier. In any event, a very interesting little comparison.
Tim always thought the Imps had a braking advantage because of the size that you can get under the Imps wheels, but you can see the Mini is far more stable under braking and gains so much through the corners. Just realised this was taken 10 years ago when the HSCC Pre-65 was oversubscribed at many races. It's a pity it has dropped off in recent years.
Great video interesting comparison between a mini and an imp. I forgot how much minis bounce the front wheels even flat out on the start fnnish straight 👍
Try it in a Renualt 5TS LOL Our race was actually behind this bunch in the 70's Made us line up nose to tail, I ended up near the front almost tothe back because of the plonker in front of me being blocked

nice drive the first few laps were hectic some unnecessary blocking , this is only a clubie event ,those damn imp motors are quick , started racing at cadwell in 66 last race there in 2001 when i moved to the u s a ,wish i had never moved tracks here crap

Imps and Minis: Quite simply the best two small cars ever made.

The Imps are allowed to run 1150cc engines in this series. They also benefit from 12 inch tyres which do not over heat and larger brakes.
