Just wanted to say that Esee's No-Questions-Asked-Warranty is LEGIT! I broke this blade when I made the review video (doing something stupid - as you will see). I mailed it in on the 3rd and got a replacement on the 8th. Quality customer service still exists!
exactly. When people hate on a thicker blade, I don't think there live in a cold climate, or where there's hardwoods. In a hardwood forest in below freezing temperatures, a mora knife is not going to cut it. My mora knife bent like an accordion the last time I tried to prepare kindling in 10F temperatures.
Thanks Doug for the vid. I was going to buy a green one from Amazon this Thursday until I saw your orange one. Its the color I wanted and its slightly cheaper with your link. Something about the ESEE Orange I really like. Thanks again.
Great video. Honest. I believe your philosophy on having to beat the knife up to prove it’s worth. It can, and it will if need be get you out of a jam. I have the esee 3 and okc rat 3, and DPX Hest. I love the Iz II, but feel it would be more of the same. Check out the esee 3. IMO that is the perfect backpack hiking knife. Still gassing for the izula II though.
Believe it or not, my knife of choice(I have a dozen or so of them) comes from the camping dept. at Wal*Mart. It's a folding knife with a 3 inch serrated/locking blade with a button for one handed opening, nylon handle with clip and weighs only 1.75 ounces. And....it cost $1.97 I've been using these knives for 15+ years and have yet to break one. Now, that's a knife.

Great Video! Thanks for sharing. Can't wait to see more content 😊
Thanks!
Sick video!! Inspiration for my travels. Take it easy!
Great!
Great review. Knives like that are a necessity for deep winter camping. For spring summer and fall my go-to is the Swiss Army classic SD knife.
I love my Swiss Army Knife for little stuff but non-locking folders scare me if I am too far from a medic LOL!

Yeah I like the heft on this, not too much at all but beefy where it counts.
Nice review. Like the little SOG with the flashlight and ferro rod.
Yeah I love this little thing I don't know why they stopped making it. But I haven't been able to find it anywhere else.

Great! One thing to keep in mind though - Esee won't replace the orange one if you send it in for work (learned that the hard way). ;)
@@BackcountryPilgrim So will they replace the knife with a different color or is the orange one not under the lifetime warranty?
They replaced mine with colors from their inventory, the problem is the orange one is specially made and they don't cover replacing it in that color.
What is better than a ESEE IZULA 2?
A IZULA 2 with G10-handles from the Knife Connection!
Cool!
ESEE are great knives this one looks very nice and I love that color scheme!
Yeah you gotta order this one special. ;)
Come on Doug, it’s Ka-nife😂🤣😂 Nice review!
Only if it starts with a "C".
Nice one Doug. I really like the lifetime guarantee
Me too - especially after making THIS video LOL!
I like that review. 👍
Glad you liked it, thanks!

Yeah I just did that to make a point but its not really made for it!
That Zula 2 is sweet! I do a lot of gutting fish when I backback. Would u recommend it for that
Im not much of a fisherman so I havent used it for that, the coating may make it less smooth of a cut but it may not matter. It's definitely sharp!
IMO it’s too thick for fish filets. It will definitely gut the fish, just descale the fish with a tool for that.

Sounds like a great deal!
