    I’ve got 2 Lorier watches, a Neptune diver I bought a few years ago. The other the Gemini Racer with yellow dial which I am actually wearing now!👍🏼😎 Fantastic watches, very well made & a bit different from the norm. Enjoy Steve!

      You can really make a full collection with their lineup. Very tempted by the Neptune...very

      We must have similar tastes Andrew. I have a Series 3 Neptune and also a Gemini Nero. Definitely a Lorier fan, and I think a Hyperion will be the next one in the collection, but I’m thinking the Skyward as I have too many black dial watches already.

    That’s a stunner. I think it’s worth every dollar. I prefer acrylic over mineral crystal (like you sapphire is 1st of course). At least you can buff it out pretty easily. Thanks for the great review!

      The good thing for them is their merchandise never "sleeps" long. From the factory to the end buyer trip.

    This is how you do a vintage inspired watch, definitely going to try and get one next drop. Love the size and style, and it looks well worth the money. I don't think I caught this from your review though, 100m WR?

    Good review of a great looking watch 👍. I agree about the movement, the lack of quickset isn't a problem for frequent fliers with just one watch, but for watch collectors the caller GMT is better. An acryllic crystal in good condition used to be my favourite, so clear and no need for AR, but I just got a Baltany 1921 and the sapphire on that is superb and the clear AR doesn't notice at all.

    Not annoying just very useful when traveling or when crossing multiple time zones on ocean passages.

    Lorier is a brand i intend to be a milestone choice in a few years, the Hyperion on top, although their small selection is remarkably versatile. True homaging with their own language - a very difficult balance to get - with solid specifications. I'm not a huge fan of acrylic but i have it in some of my vintages which i love, so this isn't a real problem for me.
    My only complain is that i wish the bezel there was 60 or 120 clicks, so as to get more usefulness other than tracking a timezone.

    A great in depth review. I nearly pulled the trigger when these came out but 37.4mm is just too small for me. It's not really my wrist size (same as yours at 7.5") but it's more my eyes which struggle to read stuff. It's just a bit small for my eyes to appreciate. But yes a beautifully well executed piece and I love the use of acrylic for the bezel and the glass. The lume treatment is well thought out, but would be better if the bezel lume was stronger.

    Thanks for the review Steve. I have a Series 3 Neptune and also a Gemini Nero chronograph. I’m considering the Skyward when it’s next released but also tempted by the upgraded Phoibos Wavemaster GMT coming in April. If you could have your money back and you’re choosing between these again, which would you go for?

    • @EscapeWheel
      @EscapeWheel  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I wouldn't say one is built better than the other so it comes down to personal preference. For the visuals alone id go with this one. But I still have my orange wave master GMT V1 and it's a great watch in its own right. But it just lacks that character that the Lorier just oozes

      @@EscapeWheel I know what you mean, there’s just something about Lorier, I find all of their watches are designed really well and have a classy look and feel to them..I have 2 others as mentioned, plus Lauren and Lorenzo are just super nice people, and Lauren responds to emails really quickly. Even being over here in the UK, I feel like it’s a personal service and connection between me and the two of them. And you don’t get that with any of the AliExpress brands and many other micro or small watch brands.

    It's a good looking watch. I got one in the last re-stock. Great value for the price with the 9075 movement. Be advised that this watch wears small. I have a 7 1/2" wrist and on the supplied very thin metal bracelet, while comfortable, it looked tiny on my wrist. Tried it on a leather strap but that didn't help either. Wearing it now on a jubilee-style bracelet and this seems to "beef" it up a bit.

    I guess im slightly disappointed to hear the finishing is on par with san martin, whose gmts are less than half the price.
    I understand the movement is less refined and a lower beat rate, but still disappointing imo.
    Same with the acrylic... kind of a deal breaker for me personally.
    I hate scratched crystals, and i beat my watches. This is just my opinion but a gorgeous piece nonetheless

    Don't get too excited by this one. They only sell a couple at a time. I have wanted one for quite a while, but continue to be disappointed by their business practice (not producing enough for customer demand). Would it really hurt to produce a few extra, so you can have them in-stock for more than a couple minutes?

    Don't get the true gmt vs office gmt. Seems like a pain in the ass, and I appreciate Americans have a couple of timezones these things are ment for gallivanting World travellers. And considering about 10% of Americans hold a passport, I would be much happier with a swift date change.
    Sorry man I just don't get the travellers v office argument. I have found office much more useful.
    Nice watch though and good review.

    • @thegorn
      @thegorn 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I've had both and I'm 100% in the caller GMT camp. The whole traveller GMT thing has been a bit of a fad, egged on by successful noobies like Teddy Baldassssarrrre using the false term "true GMT" (implying that if it's not a "true GMT" then it's somehow false or broken... and no Teddy it's not) and the fact that Rolex uses traveller GMT and probably throws shade on caller GMT.

    $600 for a miyota, acrylic, 100m no name brand watch with sub par finishing and no history or legacy? Case in point, I bought my Omega Seamaster professional 300m automatic for $1400 years ago. Save a bit more and get something like an oris or a decent Seiko diver. Heck, I recently picked up my Hamilton Murph 38mm for $500 and my 43mm bulova lunar pilot snoopy colorway for only $300. Way better choices with actual history out there. But each to their own.

      @@dannyle_chu like I said I’d rather a gmt Seiko or bulova. Price point is similar. Let’s be real, these are “jewelry” pieces and brand prestige and history behind it matters. G-shock as before mentioned will do the “watch” department much better at a fraction of the cost. Also these no name brands imitated the designs of big name Swiss brands so the heavy lifting has already been done in that department. If I wanted a decent knockoff or homage these days, those Chinese no name can do it cheaper and better. No need for something pretentious in my opinion as these micro brands for what I consider to be over priced. If they designed something that is uniquely their own, I’d respect that. For now, just get Oris, Seiko, Hamilton, Bulova in that similar entry level price point or slightly above.
