During Today's Fansign event ~ When fans asked Dongwoo oppa why he was wearing his regular clothes to the fanmeeting, he said that if he were to wear his stage clothes to the fanmeet too, his stylists wouldnt have time to take a break. “June 9 is our ninth anniversary,” began Dongwoo. “I actually find myself looking at seniors. I think that we’ll also be able to promote for a long time like seniors such as Shinhwa, g.o.d, and Super Junior. I want us to do something special on the day of our anniversary. Whether that’s a radio appearance, fan meeting, or concert, I want to create a special event for INFINITE’s anniversary. Even if some members go to the military, I want the members who haven’t enlisted yet to meet with fans.”
About working with the INFINITE members on their last album, Dongwoo commented, “We worked together for the first time in a while. We had songs that we had always worked on. We recorded some good songs and some that weren’t the best fit for us, but the members’ skills were still the same. Our teamwork is no joke, even though we fought a lot while promoting.”
Continuing to speak about INFINITE’s teamwork, he said, “It’s amazing. I think that INFINITE was a good name for us. Our fans are growing with us step by step. When we had our first fan meeting, we couldn’t even fill 200 seats. But we surpassed 5,000 people, and then 30,000 people. I think we and the fans know about each other’s hard work and efforts. While seeing the growth of our vocals, rap, and dance, I confirmed that it’s our memory and history. I felt once again that I really dedicated my 20s to INFINITE. I want to promote as INFINITE even if I’m born again.”
Dongwoo chose his most memorable moment while promoting as a member of INFINITE. “I remember going to senior artists’ dressing rooms and saying hello over and over again at the beginning of our careers,” said the idol. “And now it feels strange to receive greetings from junior singers. We talked a lot amongst ourselves about what we should do when there are juniors. It makes me think again while promoting and that I need to have good influence as a senior. I also think that I should show good skills during rehearsals and live performances, and I think it’s important to talk more with the juniors.”
He continued, “I haven’t been able to stand on stage at the Gocheok Dome yet. I really want to perform there sometime.
I experienced a world tour, but there are many countries I haven’t been to yet. I want to perform in the Netherlands, Australia, Switzerland, and see many fans, especially in Turkey and Russia. Many Turkish fans leave comments when I’m holding a live broadcast on V Live.”
Dongwoo concluded, “I think one or two more members might enlist in the military this year. I want to tell the fans to heal their hearts with our albums and videos. Sunggyu will be discharged in about 10 months, and he’ll promote right away. I’m also planning to release an album as soon as I get back, so please wait a little.”

“Including my time as a trainee, I’ve spent 11 years with the members,” said Dongwoo. “Before this, I’d been putting my voice on featuring projects, solo songs, or unit work, but I’m grateful that this time I was able to complete my solo album with just my voice, without using any featuring artists.
My mother also said it was ‘an honor for our family.'
Dongwoo went on to describe how it was touching for him to be able to take part in the lyrics writing and composing for his album. “The songs all seem like my children,” he said. “I think this album will really be one that makes me grow.” He added with a laugh, “Even though it’s been ten years since I debuted, I still had room to rise.”
He was also asked about the members’ reactions to his album. “I filmed two music videos for this album, and the members said that ‘Party Girl’ was great and asked why I wasn’t promoting it,” he said with a laugh. “It was meaningful advice. But personally I like the song ‘Romeo’ more. Everyone has their own taste when it comes to songs.”
Dongwoo will be enlisting in the army as an active duty soldier, although his enlistment date has not yet been decided. It was reported that he previously applied to be a conscripted policeman, but didn’t pass the first round of examinations.
“I don’t think about this much still,” he said. “I’m planning to go this year as an active duty soldier. I’d planed to go as an active duty soldier in September 2018, but it was postponed because Sungyeol told me to go to INFINITE's fan meeting in December first. In some way, it’s *thanks to Sungyeol* that I’ve released this solo album. Since I don’t have much time left before my enlistment, I’d like to spend it on work.”
Dongwoo was also asked if he’s heard anything from people around him about enlisting in the military.
“I’m close with actor Yoon Kyun Sang, and he gave me some advice about the army,” said Dongwoo. “Hwang Chi Yeol and Super Junior’s Donghae also told me, ‘Everyone goes to the army, so don’t worry about it.’ I think that since I don’t know my enlistment date yet, it hasn’t sunk in. The reactions from people around me have been different, with people telling me ‘Military service is a turning point in your life’ or ‘It’s torturous.’ Most people tell me that since I have a good personality, I’ll do well even in the army.
At a fan signing event, more than five fans looked at me and cried. ‘I can’t send you off to the military,’ they said, or ‘Couldn’t you not go?' 😭
Dongwoo’s fellow INFINITE member Sunggyu is currently fulfilling his military service, and he was asked if he’s been in touch with him recently.
“I heard that Sunggyu is sleeping in the same quarters as Ji Chang Wook and Kang Ha Neul now,” said Dongwoo. He laughed as he added, “They’re all shy and not cheerful like me, so he said that it was awkward at first.”
Dongwoo continued, “When Sunggyu was out on leave, he said to me, " *Trust and follow ONLY me. Because we have to continue INFINITE. You should work hard in the way that you are and come back healthy from your military service, and then let’s bring INFINITE together again* "
