Honestly, I preferred the prequel to Faraway Wanderers, Seventh Lord. Honestly, everyone except for Wuxi is hateful in it, but it's much more fast-paced F.W. But I LOVED the drama adaptation! I think you'd prefer some of Priest's other works, like 'Silent Reading/Mo Du' or 'Imperfections/Can Ci Pin': Can Ci Pin is honestly my favourite book, but I can see why it might not be everyone's cup of tea, cuz it's quite philosophical.
I stuck out to the end (at least I think I did, it’s been a while) of this novel, and I feel like one of the major flaws it has, is that it drags on more than it needs to. There also wasn’t too much to get you connected to the characters, not much romance or side quest/plots or things to keep you interested. I was a little disappointed when I finished it, but I think it’s more of a preference thing idk. (Side note: I’ve had the same thing happen with Thousand Autumns, I just never tried to finish that one. I feel like the audio drama (the little I’ve seen of it anyway) was very cool tho.) Has this been the case with anyone else? 😅
Yeah I got to like chapter 50 and I just felt nothing. The only connection I had was from what I'd seen in the drama. There wasnt much explanation or world building for me to feel anything about the story.
@@winkbloo8307 I think it's because it's one of her first books. She wrote it when she was still in school over 10 years ago, at the end of the chapters she even wrote small notes like "I got a test tomorrow" which I think is kinda cute. But yea, I feel like all the side characters or background characters are just blank slates, not fleshed out, just come and disappear, and leaves no impression. No real description even.
I thought 1000 autumns Yan wushi is gona flirt hard with Shen Qiao. It became too political for me. I’m into Erha and MDZS smutty content, with abit of adventures.
I totally get not wanting to finish it. Personally I found Qi Ye (Lord Seventh), the prequel, more interesting than Faraway Wanderers. But it's all about personal taste. I think maybe I would recommend another Chinese BL novel called "The Wife is First" or "Silent Lover". Maybe you will enjoy them, but I can't guarantee it since I don't feel I know your tastes that well >__< The second one is quite frustrating though, I kept screaming if there weren't any decent human beings in the book except the MC. As for "happier" Chinese BL novels I really love "It's Not Easy Being a Master", "How to Survive as a Villain" and "Mistakenly Saving the Villain"
@@winkbloo8307 You mean xianxia danmei novels? OK I have several (the perks of being Chinese I guess haha). The first two + "How to Survive as a Villain" are just historical, the other 2 are "historical fantasy" . "It's Not Easy Being a Master" is basically if Scum Villain and 2HA had a baby. The MC gets transmigrated into the scum villain master of the hero (who has become dark like the original Luo Binghe), while the hero is transported back in time to when he was a disciple. So while MC tries to avoid his death, the disciple is super suspicious because he's living in his past and knows how cruel his master really is. Some others that I enjoyed but am well aware aren't necessarily the best: "Every Day the Protagonist Wants to Capture Me", "Reborn Into a Slash Game", "Who Touched My Tail", and "Strategy to Capture the Scum Gong". The last one is a mix of modern times and ancient times, because he jumps from life to life throughout history. It's full of "dog blood", so much drama and heartache. And then I want to mention this one because it's kinda funny: "When a Fanfic Protagonist Transmigrated Into the Original Novel" I do want to point out that "How to Survive as a Villain" is really worth reading though, even if it's not fantasy. That one and "It's Not Easy Being a Master" are probably my favourites.

Has nothing to do with the video, but hey, Circe is in the background! Such a good book~ You read The Song of Achilles too?
It's literally next on my list! Just finishing up another book and I'm considering doing TSOA reading vlog after 🤔

I have watched Word Of Honor and it was really great! Maybe i shoud read the book too? 🤔
Depends what you want out of it! Drama had way more in it and almost makes the novel seem washed down
question, where do people read all these novels. i want some things to read again and liked TGCF a lot from what ive read
You know, the famous one do not mean the best.
Wushuang >>>>> Faraway Wanderers
