Wow, Carmen, what an absolutely fantastic video with your stitching and your tribute to your beautiful grandma. My sincerest condolences. You were truly an inspiration to the cross stitch world, and no one not one of us would want you to be overwhelmed because of eyes on you. It is just that you are so easy to watch and do such beautiful stitching. You are a true inspiration, take care❤

I’m sorry for your loss. I love all your stitches and socks! Great job! Your tribute stitch is lovely and I love your color choices. My toes wear out first but my kids are all heel first. 😊

I think hearting the istagram comments if you can is nice. Editing the caption to blanket thank everyone for their comments is perfectly acceptable. We understand. You are great and we just want you to know that we think so 😊.
For flosstubes, I will watch the most recent so I know things coming up soon. Then I go back and watch the oldest video I haven't watched and work back to current.

Wear those socks! I have socks that are over 15 years old and I am still wearing them! They wear forever. I feel your enthusiasm. I hand wash my socks in lavender wash, spin them in my washing machine and hang them to dry on my curtain rods! They are perfect and so wonderful in the winter.

Hallo Carmen, what an amazing podcaster you are, stitching and knitting sooo beautifully! Your feet will be happy with knitted socks even in summertime, so better wear them as often as you can : ) Here in the Netherlands the weather is Stormy rainy and a bit cold but that will change, it's springtime (with daffodils and tulips). Happy to have found you on youtube, Thank you!

Dearest Carmen, Losing your Grandma is certainly soul-wrenching. 92 is a well-lived life and to think she shared so much of it with you!! My mom will be 98 in June and while we all expect it, letting go is never easy. The influence they have on our lives and what they teach us is never, ever forgotten. Really enjoying stitching the Jacob project with you, my Irish Quaker Sampler is coming along! Keep stitching!

Hi Carmen, I'm so glad that you are enjoying knitting podcasts! The word "Podcast" comes from the fact that the first knitting shows were primarily audio, mostly consumed by people listening on the Apple Podcast app. When we all started to upload videos to TH-cam, the "Podcast" name stuck. No idea where the name "Flosstube" came from. I assume it is Floss + TH-cam = Flosstube. Also, "skeins" of yarn are technically "hanks" but we all refer to them as "skeins". (I tend to call larger skeins of floss "Hanks" as well). Love your videos and I'm so sorry for the loss of your grandma.

Your Blackbird finish was a wonderful tribute to your grandmother ❤ I just finished a pendant 1/1 on 56 count and realized I forgot 7 stitches as a stem in the cartouche, and since I had cut the fabric I stitched the last stitches in hand, although I usually would have the small fabric in a Nurge hoop.

Now you know how to knit socks, you can replace the bottoms. My grandma knit us socks and she used to replace our soles every couple years because we wore them out. She also did double thickness on the soles so they would not wear out as fast.

So sorry to hear about your Grandma, my Mom is 91 and our sons are so close to her but she’s still living on her own, we cook all her meals and take her to appointments. We are lucky to have her nearby but my heart goes out to you. So many great things in this video. Cross stitch projects are beautiful and thank you for sharing about your scroll rod, it looks like a good one. I am doing Charlotte with the Roxy conversion as well. I have to get back to her. I am stitching Sarah Milthorp by HATS and Jane Ann 1871-Fifteen Friends by Cozyegg Designs, it is a beautiful and big Bristol Sampler and I just can’t stop stitching her. Now to the knitting which is amazing! I balance my knitting to the morning time and then cross stitch in the afternoon sometimes but mostly the evening. I have the same book about socks, I did the Intersection socks cuff down, my toe up socks just don’t fit right. Wear the socks you were gifted on special occasions, I know my son wasn’t wearing the socks I knit and he said they were too good but told him to wear on special occasions so my sons and husband wore their handmade knitted socks on his wedding day, it was awesome! The Soak wash is wonderful. I get a lot of my sock yarn from Woolens and Nosh, she has a Targhee base which is wonderful to knit with and holds up very well. I use the Hermione heel for my husband, he wears his heels out quickly and also use the Umbrella toe by Kay Jones-The Bakery Bears. Voolenvine is awesome, some other recommendations are the Crazy Sock Lady, Sandy by the Lakeside (Canada) and Earthtones Girl. Denise does a lot of different heels and has free patterns plus her videos are awesome. You can also do fingerless mittens with your leftover yarn or shortie socks.Helen from Curious Handmade has beautiful lace socks and her patterns are great. I think The Knitting Loft is in Canada and may have tweed yarn. Happy Cross Stitching and Knitting.

Carmen, sorry to hear about the loss of your Grandmother. It's so special to stitch her initials into your work to remember her. I did the same thing for my grandmother - last year I stitched Reaching Skyward and my grandmother passed away at the end of January, so I decided to put her initials as well as those of my other grandparents and my parents so that the piece is like a 'family tree'. I really like grieving through my stitching in that way - keeping them in my thoughts as I stitch. I'm stitching a piece right now in memory of my mother-in-law as well.
I really enjoyed seeing your knitting! I'm a big knitter as well - that Hermione's Everyday Sock pattern is a go-to for sure! Really impressive work on all those socks. :)

I'm sorry for the loss of your grandma. What a blessing to have her so many years. Looking forward to hearing about your visit to the Netherlands and all of the things you find to buy there. Love your color schemes! Also the hem stitching. Personally I like both of your hemstitch designs. Thanks for the recommendation of the John James beading ballpoint size 10. I’m currently stitching on 46 with John James tapestry petite 28 and I’m being driven crazy with splitting the threads. Sorry to hear about your Grandma but I do think that you will be happy that you put her initials on the Blackbird piece. I have put initials or names of ancestors on samplers. Some of which I have known and others that I haven’t ever met but they are in my family line. Since those I’ve known have passed years ago and the pain has lessen it makes good memories rise about them. My youngest daughter is a sock knitter too. Well not so much currently as she now has two little kids but she loves knitting them. Nice seeing you again.

Just found you and love your FT! I love your stitching but really enjoyed your journey of sock knitting! I too taught myself to knit during the pandemic using Crazy Sock Lady and Earthtones Girl podcasts! I love VollenVines videos as well! Your knitting is wonderful and now I need to get back to the socks that need a partner! You are so enthusiastic and I need to start knitting on them again! I mostly knit hats, cowls and shawls and may tackle a sweater at some point! Thanks so much for sharing! Will look forward to watching all your FT’s. Appreciate you! Oh, and a good strong wool to try is Targhee! Great for socks!

Hi what a great endeavour! I can stitch, but I can't knit except simple basic wool scarf. That is because I always get bored while I am (was) knitting. Socks seems to me a bit complicated, but it's great to have handmade socks you can wear! I like your approach, you dive into it and learn how to do thiings! Your Charlotte Ramsay looks amazing! I am sorry for the loss of your nonna. Happy stitching/kntting.

JJ needes are English. Ball point simply means tapestry pont. the end is rounded vs sharp pointed. British English vs other. And just in case you haven't run across them there are some stitching needles that do have an actual ball on the end. Don't remember the brand right now. Agree with what you said about Bohin. They are the sharpest tapestry needles around. Even the eye end is too sharp for me. Slides right into my skin.

I know several longstanding knitters who are terrified of knitting socks! You are a marvel picking it up so quickly and so well.
I'm school skane. Skeen sounds weird to me. Not sure why knitters call their TH-cam's podcasts. Also weird. Yarn tube or knittube work for me.
Have a look at Selma knits. She found some tweed yarn. I used to sell it in my store but the distributors don't carry it any more. Regia and Lana Grossa both had tweed sock yarn. You might find them during your trip to the Netherlands.

I can sympathize with your mother and her frogging incident. I’m a newbie to cross stitch and on my first project I was maybe half finished and I missed up on counting and needed to rip out quite a few stitches. Yep, used a seam ripper and tore a hole in the fabric. Luckily I had enough fabric left to start all over. Lesson learned. I’m only on my third piece now. Your enthusiasm is so encouraging and I really like your choice of projects.
I stayed for the socks and that was cool too. Have you checked out Not Quite Enough Yarn on TH-cam? She’s from England and posts weekly vlogs, but really goes into detail in her monthly wrap up of her projects. I didn’t wind up getting into knitting but I still watch her because she is so enjoyable. A nice dry wit shows up frequently. Thank you for another great video.

Bonjour Carmen.
Tu me fais chaud au cœur quand tu parles québécois
