    What about the factors that affect 100g of water having different solubility for salt from that of sugar? Why so much more sugar molecules can dissolve in 100g of water but not as much salt?

      Very good question. There are some rules to help you predict if an ionic compound is soluble in water, but it is very difficult to know or predict exactly how much of a chemical will dissolve. These facts usually need to be looked up on a chart or table.
